I’m definetely coming back for lighting repairs and upgrades. Tao the owner was really cool. Real chill guy. Had me kick it in the little lounge while I wait. Fast service as well. I am for sure going to be a return customer.

I bought HIDs for my car a couple of years ago from them and was told they came with a one year warranty. After more than a year one of them finally went out and I went to them to buy another. They inspected my original unit and noticed that it just needed to be re-​wired. They took care of it for me free of charge. In and out in a few minutes flat. The service alone is worth a recommendation.

Quick, straightforward service. Called and was able to get the HID lights installed on the same day! Tao was a great guide– he explained the different options, and got it done quick! In and out in under 30 minutes.

Great place. They installed my HID in about 30 minutes and I am very happy with the results. Quick service at a great price. Will definitely come again for future installations.

1^st time here at the Hayward location but I have been going to T&R Lighting ever since they were at their San Leandro location for about 4 – 5 yrz now.
Spoke to Tao & made an appointment to get a diagnostic on my HIDs b/​c i didnt know if it was the bulb or the ballast that was the problem. Went straight after work & made it on time for my appointment. Johnny was there working on another car & told me there was a wait time of 5 – 10 mins. No problem. My turn came & Johnny took a look at it. Told me that the problem was the ballast. So i told him to replace it with a new one & change the bulbs frm 10000K to 8000K. He suggested that i get a whole new kit since considering i had my HID’s for quite some time now. Well what’s $ 40 more for a whole new kit, ayy?! So i went with it. He also changed my LED on my license plate light for free b/​c of a Unilocal check-​in.
Overall, Johnny did a great job & my car has better vision now! THANK YOU T&R LIGHTING!

I have a lot of thanks to give to Tao over at T&R Lighting!
Before I took my ride to T&R, I took my car to some other shop to get my HIDs fixed yesterday. That shop messed my car up, cut my old ballasts up, and installed the wrong bulb size for my Acura TL. I came back today and told the installer the problem and he told me to talk to the shop owner, but he wouldn’t be back for another few hours. I’m impatient. I don’t like waiting.
I searched Unilocal earlier this evening and rushed to T&R Lighting. It looked like they were closed already. I called T&R anyways to see if anyone was there and Tao picked up and said he already left 10 minutes ago. He asked if I needed to pick up merchandise or get something installed. I told him I just needed HID D2S bulbs. He then said he’ll come back (even if they were already closed. How many people do that?!). I thought to myself, «wow». That’s great customer service right there.
After a few minutes, I see Tao drive into the shop and he invites me in and asks what bulb size and temperature I would like. I asked him either 5000k or 6000k and asked for his opinion. He takes me in the shop and literally shows me the difference between the light temperature (he has a row of bulbs that he can turn on with a flick of a switch– pretty amazing). Again, great customer service.
I tell Tao the situation of what happened at the other shop. He can’t believe what that other shop did either. He tells me that he can fix everything, gives me a quote on the parts and labor, and I’m just surprised how affordable everything is. He shows me the different HID kits there are and tells me the difference with each. Nothing but top quality merchandise! I was thinking that he’d tell me to bring the car back tomorrow given that the shop is technically closed, but he tells me «I can fix it now. Give me a half hour.» My mouth dropped. I waited in the lobby and before you know it, Tao is all done. He fixed my HIDs in the quickness, took out the crappy HID kit that was previously installed, and even ensured the driver and passenger lights were aligned properly.
So to sum everything up, I am very pleased with my experience at T&R Lighting. Outstanding customer service!

At night reflective signs stand out. I’ve had the lights for two months now — no problems. I love it!
5 Stars on the hardware — Getting the HIDs into the headlamps — Gluing it all together so the headlamps are solid and air tight. I purchased the cheapest lights — but they look great.
5 Stars on the business itself. These guys are inspiring entrepreneurs.
5 Stars on the staff being helpful and focused on doing a good job.
3 Stars on the selection of the lights they sell. While the lights are great — they don’t offer a fog light size.
Tou runs the show and speaks English well. He is often in a rush. Sometimes he’s not good at answering questions. But In my case he went out of his way to see that I was happy. And I am!
5 Stars on the wiring and installation. Johnny did most the work. Installation into a Saturn SL is problematic because the factory default is to turn off the main lights when the brights are on. Also, the main lights have two levels of brightness — fog and normal light. So the team had to use their electronics savvy to get it so when the brights are on all four projectors come on. The wiring isn’t perfectly symmetric — but it’s okay.

Great service from Johnny ! He has the same name as me lol. I should have a picture of the work he did that I posted, not sure if it’s posted yet or at all, but you can see the quality of the lights and they are very good. ⁵⁄₅ for quality and customer service!

This will be the 3^rd or 4^th time taking my car to T&R for my lighting needs and I have to say they haven’t disappointed me once. They have excellent pricing, customer service, and their work is top notch. They’ve done everything from swapping out my entire headlight housing and adding HID’s to interior LED’s and the most recent time they swapped out my tailights for some after market ones I purchased and I was extremely happy with the outcome and price they did it for. I would recommend this place to any of my friends or family. If you’re local this is the place to go !

These guys are always solid! I have had them do all my cars from trucks to Benz to BMW to lam is they do them all. If there are any issues they always are cool about fixing. They know what they are doing and take their time. Pricing is fair but they service is good!

Excellent costumer service. Tao fixed all my issues with the lights he installed for me. Made sure I was completely satisfied even when he couldn’t fix the problem. Got a full refund and told me if I can find the lights I wanted that will work on my year and make of the car. That he will install it for me. Thanks for making everything right !

Good service! And decent pricing also quick service. Highly recommend it! They are super helpful and has a bunch of selections of lights also samples where you can choose from and see them for comparisons as well. I would say it’s pretty good quality! Definitely check them out when in need

These guys are GREAT! Purchased a set of HIDs for my civic and unfortunately after a few months, one of my lights wouldn’t turn on intermittently. I gave Tao and Johnny a call. Brought my civic in on a Saturday, Johnny diagnosed that my ballast was defective. Gave me a replacement immediately!

Tao was great. I found them off Unilocal two weeks after I bought a fully custom truck with tons of extras. I had a headlight bulb out and when I tried to replace it, I found out my custom truck had custom HID lights with some pretty rare/​hard to find wiring. I spent a few hours of my time just trying to replace a headlight bulb and after taking it apart, I sought an expert. Tao looked things over for 5 minutes, told me he didn’t have the HID replacement and they may not be easy to find. He then offered to just convert it back to stock if I wanted and said he would only charge me $ 20 to convert and install my new lights. You DONT find that these days EVER.
Only missing a star due to the backyard garage feel of the location and that he was frequently on his phone many times from consult to finish.

Tao is the man. He quickly assessed and corrected the bad job «stereo city» in Fremont did to my 2007 Ford Ranger. Now my ride looks sweet! Thanks Tao, I’ll be bringing my 05′ BMW next!

Great price and service! Johnny amd Tao gave both of my Frs and Volvo a brand new look, highly recommended to anyone who wants to upgrade their lighting system!

Tao at T&R performs real quality work. Nothing but the best comes out of this guys shop. He hooked up my 2014 Honda Accord Sport with HID’s and led interior/​exterior lights with great workmanship.
I left the shop very satisfied. Next step will be HID fog lights! I will definitely be back to see TAO! I recommend anyone looking for professional custom light work to see TAO. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK BUD!

I have now been back here again because the LED parking bulbs they installed in my headlight assemblies totally burned up and deposited smoke fog on the inside of the headlight lenses.
Tao did the best he could to clean it, which I do appreciate, but since the units are sealed and not openable, it could only be cleaned so much by reaching in there with a long swab. It is still noticeable though, and there is smearing on the inside of the lenses now.
My new car will simply never be the same unless I replace each headlight assembly with new ones at a cost of $ 1,000…
The products sold here are marked up very high and may not be very good quality for the price paid. For example, the small LED bulbs that they sell you for $ 5.00 can be bought from China for like 10 cents or even on Amazon for way less. Even their HID kits are marked up sky high. Most of what you are paying for is their labor to install these things for you, their customer service, and the warranty that they offer. But they do a rush job and do not seem to do a very good job installing.
Case in point, when I had HIDs installed, I had an appointment and when I arrived Tao said he had to leave in 10 minutes so he totally rushed through the install, not doing a good job at all.
I am not happy with T&R Lighting.
