I was a regular during Thanksgiving during my childhood years, ordering the take out Turkey dinner. It became customary every year, and so i have a fond bias towards this MC’s. The few times i have eaten in i have ordered the Turkey dinner– and have never been disappointed. However, the prices do seem a bit steep for the quality of food. At the end of the day, it is just another chain. Far above Denny’s, dangerously similar to Baker’s Square, but no comparison to quality food served at mom and pop establishments.

I called in our usual take out order. Petite salads. Was told that was no longer on the menu. I had to order the full salad which has gone up in price. Other restaurants are making accommodation as to the recession. MC obviously is not There are other restaurants in San Ramon and I will be ordering from them in the future instead of MC. Oh, by the way, I have been a regular take-out customer(2x a month) for the last 7 years.

Came here last night for dinner. Food was average and service was so so. Our waitress was a cutie but she was a little slow. Took her awhile to get our bill or to find her. I had the chicken pot pie with a side salad that came with a slice of pie. Sad to say I like the frozen pot pie better.

Food is average. Service is average. Prices are average. Cornbread is above average. My favorite part about it is the desserts because they aren’t majorly expensive but they are majorly delicious! :) My fav = White chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Mmmm

I had a Banana Cream pie from Marie Calender’s sometime in June. This review is based on the Banana Cream Pie which was completely horrific! I don’t really know how to describe this pie. except for it tasting fake! *sniff* I miss Baker’s Square.

This place broke the camels back on going to chain resturants, food was ok got the pancake and egg combo, pancakes were really good but poor service, I got one cup of coffee with no refills and I asked for one and never got it. And their excuse was her manager was bringing it out The warning sign was one server for the whole place, avoid this place. If you need to stop as a last resort this place is it.

There has got to be something seriously wrong here. The people sitting at the two tables around us and myself were having to get up to get our own drinks, prompt the manager to find our waitress… The manager was very polite, but clearly as empty headed as our waitress. The meals are much smaller that they used to be, even just a year or two ago. We were a party of six… Our bill was reduced from $ 96.84 to $ 45.17. My vegetarian daughter, all she wanted was the salad bar, never got the plate. I asked no less than 8 times. When I got up to get the plate myself I was told our waitress needed to bring it to us. Really? And where the heck is she…

I used to go to MC’s frequently when I lived in So. Cal… and missed the restaurant when I lived on the east coast. This is my first trip back since being in CA, and I have to say: METHINKSNOT! What happened to the quality? The freshness? The service? Yikes. Hubbs and I went there last night, wasn’t too busy so I’m already getting nervous. One look at the salad bar and I was confirmed: this isn’t going to be good. We should have left then. Server didn’t have more than 3 tables, us included, but she didn’t take our order for what seemed like 10 minutes. Salad bar was indeed in need — most of the produce had that weird been-out-of-the-fridge-too-long look, and were about ¼ full. I became nervous about my salad’s freshness(didn’t want to be puking all night) and after about 4 bites, decided to pass it over to hubbs. The soups were also only about ¼ full… yuck! I felt like I had nothing to lose, so I ordered the ribs/fried shrimp special: mashed potatoes were dry and had that microwaved too long look/consistency; the ribs were fatty and the meat quality was gross and the shrimps were overcooked. Even the cornbread tasted cheap. I’m not even going to go on about the Hubb’s hamburger — let’s just say he would have been better with a McDonald’s 99 cent cheeseburger! MMMMM…that actually sounds good right now. When it was time for the check, the waitress was no where to be found so we got up and went to the front — OH! She’s on break, they say… of course she is and *Stephanie rolls her eyes out of her head* They wanted to charge us for 2 salad bars… I mentioned it and the cashier took it off the bill; luckily I didn’t have to brawl, but I was ready! Sorry, MC, never, ever, ever going back.

This dinner was terrible. I’d give it one star but I’m feeling generous. I ordered the burger special($ 7.99) which was a plain burger with fries and choice of pie slice. The patty was super bland which destroyed any chances of a dinner success. My fries had been sitting around for a while… I tried the chocolate satin slice — it was a very rich, but slightly fluffy, chocolate pie with chocolate crust. A little too sweet for me, but good nonetheless. The salad bar is pretty boring and small. The soups were decent. The service was slow. After we were seated, we waited 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and take our drink order. Food came out slow, too. Eh, needless to say, I won’t be coming back anytime soon.

OK, we have been here a 6 dozen times in the last 8 months. It is nearby and kids eat free on Saturdays — free is a four letter F word we allow in our house! The service has never been great and on the 27th of feb is was the worst. First off we arrived and are seated right away. It was the place furthest away from the kitchen which I didn’t feel great about but what the hey I am trying to keep an open mind and not let the past experience taint this experience. She server comes up and says are you ready to order? I said that we are ready to order drinks? Oh yeah and she takes our drink order. She comes back with the drinks and we are ready to order our meals. Another table trys to get her attention and she tells them that she will be over there in a minute that we were there first. Signs all over the place to run but no we stay. We order a kids meals of half grilled cheese, 2 entrée salads and a sandwich. We wait, we wait, we wait my daughter is losing it. The table that was told her wait because we were there first are served. The waitress says that we are up next. She comes by a few minutes later and says that she was wrong it is going to be a but longer 5 – 10 minutes I say«You have got to be kidding me we had two salads and two sandwiches» She said that there was a large party of 14 people and they are behind. I told her that I have a young child that is hungry and they need to have our order moved up. She said that I am welcome to go to the salad bar and get things for her to eat which I do. Our meal comes… My husband have 6 french fries, my daughters grilled cheese — the cheese isn’t melted. The salads are fine. A few minutes later they bring my husband a plate of fries… without our asking saying — here’s more fries you were shorted! Which ticks me off because she knew that she was delivering something sub-par. We were never offered additional corn bread even when waiting so long. We had to ask for refills when we saw her. And in all of this a manager didn’t even had the balls to come and say hi!

I had the Shepard’s pie and corn bread the last time I went here. It was pretty good, no, it was actually delicious; but way smaller that it use to be several years ago.

The waitress quickly sat us down, then disappeared for about 15 minutes and later returned taking all our orders. We received our waters, cornbread, and meal all within the same minute after waiting for an extremely long time. Aren’t you’re supposed to receive your water and cornbread WAY before your meal? Not only was the waitress not doing so well, there were also ANTS on our table. We got a seat next to the window and ants were crawling all over the windows and got to our table, and even to our plates. We complained to the manager and got 75% of our meal reduced along with free dessert, which was needed. I give this place 2 stars because the food was decent, and the manager was willing to compensate for our ant fiasco. The waitress also suddenly got more attentive and polite to us after realizing there were ants on our table. If anything, the ants did us a favor.

Place is very friendly and not as busy as most restuarant chains. You get seated relatively quick! Love their pies but as far as food, i think the food is pretty good but definetly not worth the price. The place seems to focus more to the elderly crowd and its not as live inside the restuarant. I will admit do, for every Holiday you will see me in line for their Pies.(Definetly pre-order your pies)

I walked in, saw the mess, and then walked out on the Mother’s Day Brunch. Need I say more?

This is one of my favorite chain restaurants to eat at. I like the home style cooking I mostly love the corn bread mines never comes out as moist. but oh well. There is always lots of parking. We get served quickly and the food is good. The Sunday brunch is very good. A lot of variety and I think worth the cost. I did notice at a recent visit that the price of the pies had really jumped up. I thought $ 11.99 for a whole cherry pie is a bit much. I especially love the muffins at Marie Callendars. They are always a treat very tasty and huge, eating one takes forever. I will say that I have also noticed that the portions at Marie Callendars have changed as well. You use to get a big chunk of corn bread, they have cut that back to half of what you use to get. The meatloaf you use to get 3 pieces now only two. Not sure why the changes but I wish they would go back to the old portion sizes.

Went here for Thanksgiving as no one wanted to cook and here is the lowdown. First we waited for days to be seated which was strange as the place was not at all crowded with diners yet but was packed with folks wanting pies. The table was horrid facing a wall so none of us were facing each other to talk so we asked to be moved to a booth which they did with no problems. 1. Took forever for beverages 2. Cornbread rocked! 3. Croutons in salad were friggin stale! 4. Not enough turkey or taters! 5. Was there any stuffing? 6. Sweet potatoes were amazing 7. Pie was cold 8. Teeny cup of cruddy cranberries. All in all it was a good meal but not worth $ 20.00 Especially with 5 of us we realized we should have just cooked ourselves.

I live and die for pie, and they can be counted on for banana cream and the fresh fruit ones in the summertime. I stopped taking actual meals at Marie Callendar’s because it was so inconsistent, also I can make most of this stuff easily at home. And I am picky as heck about my salads(not their strong point). Nonetheless, ever time I stop by here for a pie, service is super friendly, so I keep on coming back for desserts which I need like a hole in the head. They have muffins in the display case which look like enough calories for an entire family — well-priced.

In my experience, Marie Callender’s is only good for 3 things: 1 — Cornbread(homemade & warm) 2 — Potato Soup(thick & chunky) 3 — Pie(usually pretty fresh) I also recently discovered their fried green beans appetizer. It comes with a spiced up ranch dipping sauce. You need an iron stomach to handle all the grease, but DAMN it’s good. This location has decent service, but usually the tables are sticky and sometimes the plates & silverware are dirty.
