Factory Direct Drapes

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I placed an order by phone because I had trouble with their website. The next day they charged my credit card the full amount and sent me an order number. They said it would take 4 – 6 weeks for the drapes to be made. I waited 5 weeks and sent an email to inquire into the status of the order and was emailed that the order had been canceled. But they had never credited my credit card with the amount!
I tried to talk to to a manager but was told he was not available for 24 – 48 business hours!
I canceled the order that day and had my credit card company reverse the charges.
I must say that calling is very «iffy» with this company — sometimes they answer the phone but most times they do not!
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

I ordered a 45 inch by 44inch drape for one window back in November. My estimated delivery date was between 4 – 6 weeks, but so far it has been 11 weeks. I have not heard anything back from customer service emails or phone calls. My card was charged immediately for the order. I strongly suggest avoiding this company.

I regret that I didn’t check Unilocal prior to ordering from FD. I placed my order over three months ago and was told it would take 8 weeks. I have emailed and called customer service three times and the last time was told I would be emailed with an update on the status. I’m still waiting for that after one week. My payment was processed when I ordered the drapes and I’m growing concerned I will not be able to get my money back at this point.

I wanted to support the advertisers in the Sierra Club newsletter and I needed drapes. Perfect, I thought! Boy, was I wrong! Like many other Unilocal reviewers, I find myself in the same situation of waiting for factorydirectdrapes to pay attention and follow up on promises. They processed my payment immediately and that is the only thing that has been done in a timely manner.
There is no followup whatsover, and that is what is so irksome. The order mangement system on their website is clunky at best and doesn’t give you much more info than the fact that you placed an order. It is not the wait that is the problem (I knew it would be 6 to 8 weeks), it is the complet lack of communication. They told me it would be two weeks until my order was even started and someone would contact me — no one ever did. They also told me that the rods would be sent first, immediately after my order was processed and well before the completed drapes. Nothing has been sent to date. Contacting anyone is very difficult. I will give my order to the end of September and then I will provide an update. I may have to go the small claims route also. What a hassle!

I placed an order by phone for one set of drapes. I was told if I chose a non-​special order fabric the drapes would be ready in 8 weeks. ELEVEN WEEKS LATER, after numerous calls and emails to customer service representatives and the owner, Mr. Paul C. Russo, they refused to give me a date when the drapes would be ready. Only after I told them I would file a small claims lawsuit in Superior Court in Alameda County for breach of contract did they finish and ship the order. The product was good. However, this is one of the worst, most unprofessional businesses I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I wish I could give them ZERO stars. This business has a D– rating with the Better Business Bureau and there are numerous bad reviews about them online. This same business is online under several different website names: American Draperies and Blinds, Factory Direct Blinds, and Half Price Drapes. The Factory Direct Blinds has an F review from the BBB.

I ordered some drapes over 12 weeks ago. I cancelled the order because we needed them 6 weeks ago. They confirmed that they have not started production (even as of today, Jan 14, 2015), so according to their own policy, they are supposed to refund me the $ 1,200 I sent them last October. Now they are refusing to send me the refund and I cannot even get a manager on the phone. The operator is «not allowed» to transfer calls to a manager. The operator is «not allowed» to give out the direct telephone line or email address of anyone in the company who has the authority to grant me my refund. This is not a reputable business. Their customer service is an embarrassment. I am afraid that they may never return my money to me.

This company also does business as American Draperies and blinds. I had done business here in the past, so recently ordered a set of drapes for my bedroom. The order page showed a 20% discount applicable to draperies and sheers, but when I put in the code, it apparently was not applied because the confirmation showed the full price, no discount. Also, they said in writing that if a customer wanted to pick up the drapes rather than pay $ 151 to have them UPS’d that they should request it. There was no place to check on the form for this so I added it in the comments section. That also was not noted on the Order confirmation. The shipping charge was there. I tried to deal with them on the phone, but the woman who answers the phone has no power. Bottom line, she called eventually to say her supervisor approved the pickup (!) but had no answer on the discount, as her kids had been sick and she did not have time to deal with it. I said I understood and would wait. I sent an email saying I was afraid to pick up the drapes until the discount issue was resolved, and never heard back. I then got a form message confirming that the drapes had been shipped! We are talking a difference of almost $ 300 here. This was botched from the start, and I will never deal with them again. I have a dispute open with my credit card company and am making a complaint to the BBB.

Doing business with this company has been a nightmare.
I was looking to cover a very large sliding glass door, and this seemed to be the least expensive route. I ordered some fabric samples and they arrived in a timely manner. After deciding on my fabric, I went ahead and placed my order online. I ordered my selected fabric, plus a rod and ring clips. This was at the beginning of March.
4 weeks pass. Assuming it was a custom order, I counted on 4 – 6 weeks turnaround. They don’t give you any time frame when you order. 6 weeks pass. I called to check the status of my order. The woman on the phone proceeds to tell me that my fabric is discontinued, and I will have to select a different fabric. Could someone have notified me of this?
So I selected a different fabric. 6 more weeks pass. I again called to check the status of my order. The woman on the phone told me the rod I selected is on backorder, and proceeded to sell me a different rod. Again, no notification of this until I inquired. At this point, I was ready to be done with these people. I requested that they please send me my drapes, and provide a refund for the rod and ring clips. This was back in May.
Here we are in late June, and I have not yet received a refund for my rod and ring clips. I’ve called three times regarding my refund and they still owe me over $ 200.00.
This company is horrible, and I do not know how they stay in business with such lousey customer service. If I could do this process over, I would just go the pricier route and get the job done right.
If your looking for efficiency, do not go with this company.

Ordered drapes on line on April 13^th and money was charged to credit card on that date. Only received confirmation letter of order. By May 19^th, I had not heard anything and contacted company. On May 20^th J Coffey responded and said fabric no longer made and I could chose another fabric or get a refund. I asked for a refund on May 20^th. On May 28^th, I received an email from Heather stating my drapes would be shipped by Friday, May 30^th and I would receive a UPS tracking code. I immediately sent an email asking about the confusion between J Coffey’s response and Heather’s email. When I did not hear back by Friday, I started calling the toll free number. I have left several messages over several days. Today, June 4^th, a real person, Danielle, answered the phone. When I gave her the order number, she stated she would look into the matter and get back to me. I told her that it was almost 2 months since the company had taken my order and I wanted my money refunded. Danielle stated the refund would be processed today. After my past experience, I have my doubts.
Be smarter than me, do not use this company unless you are willing to throw your money down a black hole and do not care that you will receive terrible customer service.

Not worth the wait. 4 weeks to ship and when they arrived the blind stitched seam was coming apart on the curtains. I called and they said they were really busy and would call me in an hour. Never heard from them. I took it to a friend that said that she’d never seen such a shoddy job sewing. Needless to say I will need to get them fixed at my own expense. I will never use factory direct drapes again. Furthermore I seriously question any of the positive reviews for this company. I question whether they are even real or made up by some employee.
This business is not BBB accredited and they have 26 complaints against them on the BBB site. Buyer beware.

I purchased over $ 3000 dollar worth of drapes here! Never again will i or recommend this nightmare business place to anyone!!! It took over 6 months!!! To get drapes!!! Jermey the guy that i assume is cousin of the family member that owns the business, he will lie to u so sell! When he took the order he told me it was gonna take 6 weeks, and its been 6 months!!! He said its back ordered!!! I made a phone call million times now, they dont reply to ur phone calls, they wont even refund u the money!!! I am in the process of taking an action against this company. Please believe me when i say this !!! Do mot attempt to order from this company. I am very upset this company had put me through this hell!!!

Factory Direct Drapes is the worst online company with which I have ever dealt!!! The drapery they sent me was defective… one inch shorter on each side than in the middle. After many useless contacts with them and their never doing what they say they are going to do, I’ve returned the drapery and disputed the cost with my credit card company. It’s still an ongoing issue.

Found this company by searching on web and should have checked out some review sites before ordering but I didn’t. Ordered my drapes on July, in August was told they were not even started and that we would be looking at September before I would get them. For the first 3 weeks of September I got the runaround then was told they would ship out «for sure» the week of the 17^th. By the following week, when I once again had to call to follow up, I was told they did not have the fabric and they had no idea when they would get it but kindly stated they would issue me a refund! Super frustrating! Now I wait to see if it actually gets processed or if I have to follow up on that a million times too!

Please be careful when order from this shop — they are not an HONORABLE place! They lure you with discount, but they will not deliver after taking your money. The shop changed stories about my order for customized drapes in my bedroom. I placed order in March 2012, and paid almost $ 650 up front (I should be more suspicious). By May, there is no sight of drapes, nor any communication about the status. I called and called, finally the lady in 866 number told me it will ship «next week». Next Friday when I called again, I was told that since my order is special, they have to order the fabric from manufacturer, and it will take two months! In another words, they did not even have the material ordered after I paid! I cannot cancel because of no canceling clause when I paid. Not only my money is ripped off, but I have no curtain in the bedroom. Now that the days are longer, I have to trouble to sleep. Please please, do not make the same mistake I made. do not order from the Factory Drapes!

Was a loyal customer for many years, until they sent me drapes without a lining when I had ordered and paid for drapes with a standard lining. Months of emails and broken promises of a replacement ensued, and eventually they just ignored me. I had my credit-​card company issue a chargeback.
(Why try to rip me off over $ 260 if I paid with credit card in the first place, since a chargeback was always going to be the inevitable consequence? Did they think I was too stupid to read the 800 number on the back of my credit card? Incomprehensible way to run a business.)

Was looking for a curtain set to give me that hotel vibe — layered curtains (Curtain + Sheer Below) and this was the perfect place! Other places were quite expensive.
I found them online by accident, called them and found out they are in the bay area! Jeremy was great to send samples immediately that I could pick from the web and i ordered over the phone. They delivered right on time as I had guests arriving soon. One of the parts was incorrect, but they sent it to me and i got it within a few days. They also ensured I got credit back since I ordered a cheaper fabric style after the quote. Almost 5 stars… had due to incorrect installation parts and delay in credit. but otherwise. would definitely recommend!!!

We were looking at covering our 9 ft sliding glass door in our media room with either blackout curtains or the blackout side-​sliding honeycomb blinds. We found this store’s website and decided to go with it based primarily on price (we hit a ½ price deal on the drapes, but the rod & shipping were quite a bit high) and the fact that the curtains were made in the USA.
I ordered lots of samples and found that the close-​up previews online do not represent the fabrics even remotely. Also, in my mailings of swatches there was a letter included listing the swatches I was supposed to have received by name), however I found a few missing. I called and they said that they were special order swatches they didn’t have in stock and it would take 8 weeks to get them in. Hmmmm… maybe they shouldn’t have said the envelope included them then and just explained that to me in the first place, or taken the option off the website.
We ended up ordering the curtains with a blackout lining and a right-​side-​opening traverse rod with the wand. It took about 2 weeks to get to us (not bad for custom drapes & rod, but still we were never given a time line of when to receive them so we were left wondering). We started to hang them 2 weeks after we received them. From the get go, we had major problems. The rod did not come with instructions included. Just the hardware. So we went to the FDD website and printed off installation instructions. We were getting so frustrated, until we realized these instructions were not for this rod (nothing on the site specified what models the instructions were for). We Googled some different instructions until we finally found something similar to what we had and from there it was a cinch. Then we tried to hang the curtains. Again, problems galore. Then we figured out that the manufacturer had installed the Master Carrier incorrectly. We had to take it apart and re-​install it how we thought it should work (we’re still not 100% sure it’s correct, but it’s the most intuitive).
When we finally stood back to see the work, we noticed the pleats at the top are not all uniform in size, the black clips used to pinch the pleats were visible (we chose a light colored fabric), and that one of the clips failed and the fabric was loose instead of pleated. I called them and they said they would send UPS to pick the curtain up for the repair. it would be a quick fix, just a day, and have it turned around back to us quickly. I also mentioned the problematic rod installation and was told casually that yeah, the manufacturer who make the rods doesn’t provide instructions and that if they wanted instructions FDD would have to write them since it’s a new product. Ummmm… yeah??? How else do you expect the average homeowner to figure it out?
So, after all our work we had to take the drapes down, figure out how to fold them back up onto the hanger, and package them up. UPS picked them up the next day. We were going on vacation the next 2 weeks, so I was hoping that they would arrive before we left (confirmed delivery to FDD on a Wed, could have done the work & shipped on Thurs to arrive to my house on Fri since we live in Sonoma), or at the latest they would arrive at our neighbor’s house while we were gone. Fast forward 2 weeks later when we returned home and did not find drapes. I called immediately and left a message. No call back for 3 days. I called again and left another message. I got a call later that day saying they would be shipped out that day. We got them the day after that, got them hung up (there’s a stitch of thread that repaired the broken pleat that isn’t on any of the other pleats that is not visible from the ground), and they’re finally hung properly. Meanwhile, we haven’t been able to watch any TV in that room b/​c the glare is so bright (we had taken down the blinds we originally had there). Good thing we were on vacation for most of that time.
So future buyers beware. The actual product is pretty decent for the price (you get what you pay for, or else I would have also complained about the visible clips and uneven pleats at the top). But the customer service and intuitiveness of the staff is completely mind bogglingly bad. They are nice enough folks when I actually talked to someone, but just not that user friendly. After reading the most recent review from Tim H., I was really nervous if I’d ever see my drapes again, but a few phone calls did get results. I never did get an explanation why it took so long for a quick fix though.

I love this company! We ordered numerous free samples and they consulted with me on the phone. The 14ft custom limed draped are a bargain and beautiful. I just ordered another pair for the kids room.
