American Tire Depot – Hawthorne

I hate places that pressure customers into buying their services and products one after another. Look if your service is so great it should sell itself. I booked an appointment online for a $ 20 discount. I arrived @ 0858 for my appointment the next day only to be told that they don’t have the tires I want because I ordered late the previous day. The website did not say anything about ordering ahead or give a specific time frame when to order ahead for your next day appointment. I wanted Kumos and was told to consider other brands like Hankook since its Japanese rather than a Chinese brand. But later the sales rep. said that the warehouse house for the Kumos were farther than the Hankook and that I would wait all day. Well 35 mins later I had to decide because I actually have a life and did not want to waste my whole day at the tire shop. Hankook priced at $ 139 was sold to me for $ 130 a tire… plus $ 89 alignment plus $ 32 tire recycle + some recommended this recommended that totaled to $ 760. $ 60 more than what I wanted to pay. The Kumos were only on sale for $ 98/​tire hence why I wanted it plus my old once were Kumos and they gave me 50,000 miles easy. 1 hour later the shop called me at home and recommended I changed my leaking back shocks for $ 275… 2 hours later I come to pick up my car… I was asked if I wanted to buy the extra 14.99/tire extra protection… really??? If you’re the kind that do not like sales rep. trying to sell sell sell don’t come here… To be continued

I have used this spot for over 8 years and never had a problem. I have dealt with several different managers at this location for the past 8 years and all of them have been great up until now.
#1 –My son takes his car in for 4 new tires, and the manager tells him he also needs a wheel alignment, which that is normal when getting new tires, but then after starting the process they tell him he needs shocks, his cars is only 3 years old (2012 honda civic). They agree to take him home while the work is done and they will pick him up when its all finished. This just does not sound right to me, I go up there, tell them to just put the tires on and do the wheel alignment and I will get a 2^nd opinion on the shocks. Long story short, I took the car to a Honda Dealer and they said no shock were needed.
#2 — A couple months later, I take my car there because I have a nail in the tire. They tell me they can’t take the nail out and that I need 4 new tires. I took my car to another tire spot and they removed the nail and said my tires were fine and since then I have taking my car to the Acura Dealer for my maint checkup and they still have not said that I need new tires.
I will not name drop, but for both incidents it was the same manager. I will never go to American Tire Depot in Hawthorne again.

My wife and I drove into California from Arizona and found a nail in our tire. We went to Costco, Pep Boys and another tire shop all of which told us we had a 2 hour wait. This would ruin our weekend getaway so we stopped by American Tire Depot and even though they were busy, they bumped us up the list and got us out in 20 minutes. The guys there were pleasant, understanding and courteous. I would recommend this location to anyone. We’re were pleased with the quick service and we were able to enjoy our weekend as we had planned. Thank you Freddy and Jose.

Amazing and efficient! Just went up there today without an appointment because my left rear tire had a nail in it. I asked for prices towards a new tire, if it came down to that, but the guys assured me they would check to see if it can be repaired. I waited maybe 20 – 30 minutes and no new tire was needed! They patched it up seamlessly and when I told the guy at the counter I would get my wallet, he said no charge. I didn’t even buy my tires from them before and I just may do that the next time I need some. Great customer service and a speedy process! Thanks!

Unfortunately they took two hours to install two tires. I was hoping their reservation system would have had my tires ready but they didn’t.
On the other hand their prices are very good if not the best compared to other tire stores.

The manager/​owner, not sure which one, went above and beyond to get my ³³⁵⁄₃₀ R20 series tires that day. He sent out one of his guys to Santa Fe Springs just to pick up my tires. Now thats what I call good service. price is very reasonable and service is great. Although the tire production date was 2013, Its alright I guess. Thats the only reason im leaving a 4 not a 5 star. 335 tires are very very rare to come by since its 12″ wide, but they got it done for me the same day at a great price. btw, it was for my 09 GT-​R running 20×12 Volk G25 wheels in the rear. Needs 335 width tires.

Fransico and Anthony were so sweet and considerate. They took the time to get us in on a Saturday for a patch job on my tire. When the dealership couldn’t even help me, these guys did and did a great job. I like using people who are knowledgable and willing to help. 5 stars, no question about it! Thanks guys!

What do you do when you hit a pothole on imperial hwy and it pops your tire?! You sit in the car and call 1003 tire shops and find out that no one carries your Pirelli tire EXCEPT American tire!!! They even price matched to another company !! #winnng minus one star because i waited around 1.5hrs for them to install the tire… now I’m back rolling on the potholed streets of LA with fear…

I was looking for new tires and only had a certain model in mind. I called around on a Saturday and every place said they couldn’t get them until Monday. When I called American Tire Depot, Fredy answered and said if I can get them to you today will you come in, I said of course! He called me back 10 minutes later saying we sent out a guy to get your tires. Fredy and the crew went out of their way to get me the tires I wanted and even stayed later as they were very busy and I came in around 430pm on a Saturday. Highly recommend this place as they are friendly and will make sure the customer is always satisfied. Thank you Fredy!

In less than an hr and my flat wheel is fixed. At no cost too. My ride is now rolling smoothly and safely. Customer service was quick and easy. Very polite and helpful.

These guys are Awesome! Great service at a great price. I have been going here for 6 years and they always put the customer first. Just went in with a slow leak from a nail in my tire and they fixed it for free in 1 hour. I will always take my cars here for tires.

I got a free tire repair! Apparently that’s their store policy. Never done service with them, but they were a god send, thanks guys!

I originally gave American Tire Depot a sub-​par review after having a miss communication with the final charges. The manager reached out to me after reading the review and offered a portion of bill back for the misunderstanding which really falls in line with the integrity I encountered with the personnel at their shop. They give you the straight answers on what your car really needs and are knowledgable and hard working.
I have a little over 1,500 miles on the new tires and struts they did for me and everything is running smooth. Check these guys out the next time you need tires. They know how to take of the customer.

They worked quickly and efficiently. They recommended, but didn’t push, some fixes that they observed while my car was jacked up. They even gave me a discounted price for finding them on Unilocal

What a Hoax! I went in for an inspection. Turned out I needed an oil change, breaks, rotors and shocks, which in total it would be close to $ 500.
I only got my oil changed, which was only $ 20ish. I asked for a print out of what I needed simply bc I knew I could’ve gotten it done for cheaper elsewhere. In belief that I needed new breaks, I bought them myself, and was going to pay for only labor (family mechanic).
Long story short, I didn’t need breaks. When I first walked into American T the first guy I saw said «your breaks look fine, they just squeak bc of the cheap material». Then one of the managers walked in and said they were at 10%. Of course they were trying to get some money, and seeing a loaner girl walked in so he figured he would take advantage. Even the paper work didn’t specify how low my breaks «supposedly» were. So we couldn’t file a complaint. If you’re a girl. Be ware! Make sure the paperwork is detailed and ALWAYS get a second opinion. The thief is one of the managers, Big bald Hispanic guy.

I got a flat on the way to work, after calling to get a price I came here. The guy at the front desk is so all over the place, while I stood there he kept shuffling papers and answering the phone saying I’ll be right with you. maybe he needs more help at the desk but 3 times he told me just 10 more minutes ever 10 minutes… they weren’t that busy, just how long does it take a person to change one tire

The people here are straight up and don’t feed you bullshit. Good people with good service. Thry won’t sell you anything you don’t need, and will always give you a good price and work things out to your needs.
Definitely recommend this spot to anyone with automotive needs.

These guys know how to perform a correct alignment! I purchased a 2006 BMW 325i about 6 months ago, and it has been pulling gradually to the right more and more, while I have to correct the wheel to the left more and more. This is a typical problem for BMW especially here on LA POThole roads. So anyways they quoted me $ 130 over the phone considering it is a luxury car and is a little more hard to calibrate than others, and when I got there they offered to do it for $ 110, naturally I asked if they could do it for $ 100 even, and they agreed!
They also offered unlimited alignments for a year for $ 140!
Anyways their results were as I expected and came back with a comprehensive toe/​angle sheet, everything was aligned to the tee, and my BMW pulled off of their lot going as straight forward as a brand new car! Which is saying A LOT because sometimes BMWs can take more than 1 alignment to get it correct… These guys got it correct First Try! Not to mention $ 200 cheaper than at the dealer!
