They totally took advantage of a bad situation. They WAY overcharged us. It was already too late but when I called 4 other local garages they charged almost half of what Mcmackin charged us. Once I educated myself on the pricing of our issue (starter) I went over to them, same day, and asked them to explain the invoice. He immediately got defensive and was a total unreasonable jerk. WARNING: THEY CHARGE $ 130/​hr for Labor when MOST MECHANICS charge $ 80/​hr. DONT GO HERE.

These people are not honest mechanics and I would never trust them to repair my car. Let me start by saying that I know a decent bit about working on cars (not a professional or anything). I have a hydraulic lift in my garage and do a lot of my own work and am very meticulous.
My problems with them are after taking my wife’s car in for inspection. They ended up performing unauthorized repairs and were very rude and unsympathetic to my wife when she said she didn’t want that. One example is attempting to charge $ 20 in labor to change a turn signal bulb. I could literally change that bulb in 1 minute while blind-​folded. That does not seem like reasonable to me for something I can do myself so easily. They refused to credit my wife for that one and basically told her they’d hold the car hostage for the weekend so they could «uninstall» the bulb. Does that seem like something a reputable mechanic would do?
To give and example how a reputable shop would handle the same situation I have to look no further than Dempsters up the street. They did the same thing (replacing a bulb without asking) but didn’t charge labor. For something that takes such a trivial amount of time and is unauthorized, that is the reasonable way to do things.
These people are scammers and were rude to my wife (with crying newborn) to boot. I wouldn’t do business with them if they were the last mechanics on earth
