We plan to stop in whenever we’re headed for Cambria or Hearst Castle. Watching the glass artists work is always fascinating. It’s great that they have so much open space to work. That provides ample viewing for guests to watch the process, while surrounded by gorgeous finished pieces. On one visit, we bought matching tree of life necklaces for Dear Hubby, Adored Grandson and me. I also have a glass nail file with fancy handle trim from the Glassworks, which resides in my purse and see frequent use. The shop /gallery is located in the middle of historic Harmony. Great to stroll around the town and check in on other artists. There are often flowers blooming in casual beds. Great for(well-supervised!) kids.

HELPMAKEGLASSART&LEARNHUMILITY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you are on a adventure up Hwy 1& headed to the way overrated Cambria… you will be tempted to stop by this super-tiny town & it’s glassworks & wine. For just under $ 200, I also took the first course of what I thought would be many lessons on glassblowing. But I found out that it takes years & years of practice even to be halfway decent. There was a kid there who told me he has been studying every weekend for 2 years & he is just a beginner. Sure I was excited by doing(well the instructor really did 90% of the work) two vases(one colored) by assisting him. They were only made at all because of him & his firm, but kind instructions, while guiding most of the critical movements involved. You are delusional or vain, if you think that you made it yourself… like some tourists do. It is hot, dangerous, but a very beautiful art form… it is also far far more challenging than I ever imagined… kind of like going to an «art» Medical School. It would take me a lifetime to master it, and at over ½ century old, too little too late. Yes, you are welcome to take more course, at a discount, but I could tell that it would take me years upon years to create anything near the masterpieces that I have seen created in Czechoslovak Glass Art…& I am 1 – 2 Gen. Czechoslovak. It did give me a new respect for this amazing art form, & it is worth a course or two. As to the negative reviews for here… I think that they are way off base. This is a working studio where they create art, and they can make any rules they like. If you want to shop at a more fawning tourist shop, go to Cambria or elsewhere… If you want to see some fine glass art or to take a course go here. If you want far simpler & less dangerous then take pottery classes. I did a year in Junior High, and did quite well… but this was far out of my league. The other Unilocaler who has a pic of there creation really fails to comment that it is really the instructor who creates this crude form. The better it looks, the less you really did. Anyway, it was a great experience, but I cannot call what I made my creation… it was the talented instructor’s. It was fun, enlightening, humbling, and I did get two great vases out of it. Definitely well worth the money & the lesson in humility.

What a joyful expression of creativity and artistry! Learn how to take molten glass onto a long rod(imagine a giant Q-Tip!!), form it, shape it, imbue it with colors that you select, then blow it into a shape and suddenly you have a bowl! WOW — that’s what I call Transformation! Harmony Glassworks is the perfect place to step beyond what you think is possible and create something of lasting beauty. Nate was a great instructor. He went through the process, answering my questions along the way and then guided me as we went through the actual creation of my bowl. I’m a newbie to glass blowing and he is an expert who knows how to guide, challenge and celebrate the accomplishment of a new student. Treat yourself to an experience that will deLIGHT and InSpire you. And if you don’t have time or desire to actually blow glass, visit The Gallery. It’s filled with gorgeous pieces at every price range that will adorn your home or office or for gifts. True artistry!

Definitely worth pulling off the 1 to visit. It might not look like much from the outside, but there’s a treasure trove of glass made selections inside. Choose from $ 8 glass magnets all the way up to a $ 5,000 glass giant bird nest. While you browse, they are actually making glass pieces right next to you(it can get hot). We saw them make a pumpkin and a vase. Great souvenirs from Harmony(shirts, postcards, jewelry).

Love visiting the little town of Harmony every time we go to our annual Cambria trip! We love checking out what’s new or what’s going on at this little town off of Hwy 1. This glass blowing shop is one of our kids’ favorite place in Harmony. They like watching live glass blowing and looking at the different amusing glass products and glass art they are selling. Kiddos always leave with a little knick-knack from this store when we go!

The Harmony Glassworks has been in place for a long time. We were in Harmony and just shopping yesterday. What a selection of work. From marbles, to bowls to sinks to figurines, to earrings, to cups, to big works of art and more there is that special gift for someone waiting for you! We were pleased with the big inventory and this place is on our list for real specialty gifts. I understand they have classes in glassblowing, however I was unable to speak to anyone. They were busy and it was late in the day.

This was a recommended place by a coworker. We stopped by after our Paso Robles trip. This shop is situated in the tiny town of Harmony, CA. It is inhabited by a whopping 18 people, and is part of the reason it attracts visitors. We really liked the arts displayed as well as the fact that you can see them work on new glass projects. It is an awesome process with a ton of technique involved. As far as prices??? Very hefty, but you can always opt for smaller items for memorabilia of your visit. They have these glass spheres that fit in the palm of your hand with an awesome dimensional effect: the design in the sphere seems to cave in, appearing as if though it goes through your hand. We saw those at the cashier counter. The Pottery works shop is right across from this shop, so be sure to check out both! I recommend the visit, if only just for a visual treat.

I had been wanting to take a glass-blowing lesson for a while, so my family and I scheduled a lesson at Harmony Glassworks. First of all, what a cute little town! Second, what a beautiful shop Harmony Glassworks is, with everything from marbles and glass vases to glass figures/statues and beautiful glass sink bowls! There is truly something for everyone! Nate was my teacher during my ~1-hour lesson, and what a patient, knowledgeable, skilled teacher and artist he is! I was able to choose whether I wanted to make a vase or a bowl(I chose vase) and what color I wanted to make it(I chose blue). When you watch the artists making beautiful glass pieces in the shop, they make it look very easy, but it is not! It is a delicate, multi-step process, but it is very fun and rewarding! Nate made sure that even though I had never done anything like glass-blowing before, I was still able to make a beautiful vase that I now have displayed on my bookshelf. I definitely want to go back and try making a bowl the next time!

Ever since she was a little girl, my sister has talked about wanting to take a glassblowing class. So when she turned 50 this week and we were vacationing in Cambria, we finally took the plunge at Harmony Glassworks. I’m so glad we did! Nate was a thorough, patient and encouraging teacher. He guided us individually through each step of the process, and we made beautiful bowls. The steep price($ 150/person) was worth every penny for a memorable experience, some new expertise and a treasured bowl.

We really like this store. Have been here 2X and go out of our way to get here. Very interesting assortment of glass objects to include jewelry, vases, magnets… you name it, they have it. Some very unique designs made by local artists. Reasonably priced.

Don’t take photos… or check a text message from anyone. I pulled out my phone to check a message from my wife and the girl who worked there lectured me on «not taking photos of the art.» I promptly walked out… I wasn’t taking photos, wasn’t interested in taking photos… whatever. Apparently, there’s more going on in Harmony than meets the eye. I used to stop in the glass shop and enjoy the visit along with making a few purchases. However, it seems now they are employing idiots who think it’s more important to police photo-taking than treat people… well, like people. Won’t return… stupid girl. BTW, my wife was wine tasting at Harmony Cellars up the hill and I wanted to let her know I was looking around the glass shop.

Harmony Glassworks has something for everyone’s budget in every color of the glass rainbow. The town still claims 18 residents, but they might be exaggerating! It is a «must stop» when coming to or from Morro Bay on the Pacific Coast Highway. They seem to always be making something in the back, so you can watch the process. I really enjoyed the colors as there is glass in every shade of the rainbow in the store. It isn’t cheap, but it is also appears to be all made on location with a few exceptions including featured artists.

Yes a town of 18 people! –don’t believe me look it up-_I am correct. I love the glass works where you can watch someone actually making vases, paperweights, dishes and other things. Hand blown glass comes alive as you watch the artist at work. If you are adventurous or not, you can take a class. I decided instead to just buy a piece of artwork, a flower had blown out of glass. Don’t forget to check out the deals in the bargain bin area!

This place has some really beautiful pieces if you like glass! I bought a few glass pen covers — one for me and one for a friend. I wish I had bought more so I may be going to their website soon to see what else I can get. The novelty of the city only having 18 people really adds to the charm!

Harmony is a tiny, tiny town — population 18. There’s a pottery gallery in town, but my favorite little spot was Harmony Glassworks. They’re making glass non-stop there, and it’s a delight to watch artisans at work. They’re whipping out amazing pieces in no time, and they’re friendly, too. Pieces are kinda pricey, but it’s fun to watch and learn.
