I mean… given that it’s the only bookstore in town, I guess it’s a pretty good bookstore. Anyways, in all seriousness, it’s a nice quaint little bookstore with a Starbucks bar inside. They sell no only books but also Dartmouth apparel. I’ve been here to shop mostly for Moleskines and thank you cards, but also for coffee chats with recruiting companies. Good vibe, really friendly people working there.

Who can not love a B&N bookstore? They also carry a cute bear with«Someone in Dartmouth Loves Me» on it.

Best bookstore in the area. One of those modern unholy unions of college bookstore and Barnes & Noble. Huge, disorganized, rambling place. Great selection of books, everything from«local authors» to magazines to cheap paperback scifi classics. Small selection of stationary and gifty-type things(but there’s a way better selection of stationary/cards/toys at College Supply right across the street). Good selection of Dartmouth t-shirts and sweats. Bonus stealth Starbucks with a few café tables on the main floor(left over from the bad old days when chain stores and decent coffee were banned in Hanover).

A fine bookstore. My only complaint is that customers cannot look up titles on the computer for themselves. That may not be an issue since you almost nearly always need someone to describe WHERE in the store a particular book is shelved. Doesn’t matter, it’s a great place to browse and have a cup of coffee with a friend.

There are 3 parts to the Dartmouth bookstore — school textbooks, school merchandise and a Barnes & Noble(complete with nookbooks and Starbucks). For undergraduate textbooks, very few professors or students order to the Dartmouth Bookstore, and when they do stock book(for popular intro courses), they are generally more expensive than Wheelock Books, which is an alumni owned textbook warehouse down the street. However, they do stock the(pretty much only) selection of test prep book for the LSAT, MCAT, GRE etc. The school merchandise section is excellent, with logoed notebooks, stationary and apparel. Very competitive with the Dartmouth Co-op merchandise store next door. Often cheaper as well. The B&N is fine, but pretty much for those who like B&N. I personally prefer the better coffee at Dirt Cowboy, don’t have a nook and generally order books from Amazon, but the atmosphere is nice in the café and lots of interesting nonfiction and fiction is available to purchase on impulse. The displays are always well curated and often feature Hanover/Dartmouth related books.

It’s a B&N and a Starbucks Café, but it’s still the Dartmouth Bookstore. Doesn’t feel like a big corporate entity, just a nice home town college book store right there on main street. Not a super-large book store over all, but good selection of books and magazines and of course text books.

For a smaller bookstore, it has a surprisingly good selection!(And they’re good about ordering what they don’t have, although to be honest, in this day and age, you can probably do just as well ordering it online if they don’t have it.) My one quibble is that I am impressed by their non-fiction selection. Their fiction selection is more limited and pedestrian.

This was typical small-town decay until my senior fall when Barnes & Noble took over & saved the Dartmouth Bookstore from itself. With the newly expanded hours, the addition of several book categories, the clearance section downstairs, the green % off & price stickers on the books, the discount card, and the Barnes & Noble Café serving Starbucks Coffee(& lattes & Frappucinos & such), you’d hardly be able to tell that this wasn’t ever a shiny, bonafide Barnes & Noble. The words«Dartmouth Bookstore» on the outside are the only remnants of the one-star establishment that haunted this Main Street building prior to 2004.

I went up there for a book signing(Jodi Picoult!!) we got there super late like 5mins after it ended, but everyone stuck around to chat with us, even when down and got us coffee. The nicest ladies in the world work there, don’t be mean to them or i’ll kick ur ass! This place is really big, it looks tiny from the outside, but as you walk in, it gets bigger and bigger! Clean, Cute, and filled with nice people, i heart this place.

I used to love hiding out at the Dartmouth bookstore. It’s not huge but a good size for a small town and I was always happy with the selection. Textbooks however is a whole other issue. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the main bookstore is always neat and clearly well-cared for. I was disappointed when they renovated the front portion of the store and it became over run by Dartmouth paraphernalia. Let it be about the books and stationery!!! This place still holds a special place in my heart and I’ll always love it even if it can be a tad it overpriced. But there’s no tax in NH so it all evens out =)
