History

Established in 2011.

The Old Hampton Ice Cream Parlor is located in the oldest commercial building in Hampton (1873;) the site has been everything from a bank to a boutique. The owners wanted to bring a family-​oriented establishment to Historic Downtown Hampton’s Restaurant Row.

Former banker, retired in 2010. Opened the only ice cream parlor on Downtown Hampton’s «Restaurant Row» in 2011. Loving being a part of a vibrant and entertaining restaurant scene. Summer Saturday nights are particularly fun.

Called this shop to ask if I could meet a client (I am a wedding planner) at their store and they said it was no problem. As I sat their with my client the owner then proceeded to tell me that if I wasn’t going to buy anything that I needed to leave. There was no one besides us in the store at the time (so it’s not like I was taking the seats of any other customers) and I was planning on getting ice cream to go right after we were done with our meeting to thank them for letting me meet there. However, the lady behind the desk was so rude and heartless to me that I left very upset and dismayed. I’m really disappointed at how they treated me. Please take this into consideration if you decide to give your money to this business.

Great escape from the office on a warm day. Cones and ice cream are always fresh. Today I sampled red velvet and banana pudding. If I could combine the two flavors without them tasting weird, I would. I went for the banana pudding and I’m enjoying every bit of it!

I come here after doing my volunteer duties at the Hampton History Museum gift shop. I always like coming to this ice cream parlor. The décor pretty near matches the nostalgic ice cream stores of years gone by. Many people don’t know a Hershey’s Ice Cream brand exists — but, it is not in any way connected to The Hershey Company (chocolate). I find this ice cream operation MUCH MORE appealing than Cold Stone because of the simple nature of the operation and Cold Stone ultra-​conservative political donations.

I love this place! I really like that they serve old fashioned ice cream scoops and sundaes. Not frozen yogurt or anything complicated like cold stone… just scoops of delicious ice cream that remind me of being a kid!
Customer service is always great here too, which is definitely a plus. Love supporting fellow small business owners, especially ones as awesome as this place!

Came here during Hampton Bay Days. It was crowded, hot and humid inside of the store. A bit on the pricey side, as far as Ice Cream go. However, being hand dipped Hershey’s, instead of semi-​solid soft serve (from the vendor right outside their front door), which isn’t even in the ball park, as far as ice cream goes, this was a satisfying experience.
Friendly, though very busy staff. Small dining area, no doubt set up to remind one of an old fashioned parlor.
I can’t imagine driving here to get ice cream (parking in Downtown Hampton is frightening). However, I would expect that they get plenty of foot traffic here, from the locals.
Pricey, but worth the stop.

This place is just ok. I would not go out of my way to stop here. The service was good. The ice cream is nothing more than Hershey’s ice cream. It’s good ice cream but I can get it 4 miles from my house, hand dipped, at a local gas station. Not what I expected from the reviews.
The place is clean and the décor is old fashioned but not really attractive. The prices are way too high for what you get.
Overall, it was a big letdown and does not merit a return visit.

I’m a little surprised by the good reviews. There’s nothing special about this place, and their whipped cream ruined my shake. Nasty stuff. Ice cream isn’t horrible but nothing special either. Much better places at much better prices.

This place is old school in every aspect of the word. The look feel the entire atmosphere is old school. They are pricey but worth it. If you look for a real mom and pop ice cream place this is the spot. Stay hungry and keep looking for food my friends

This place is adorable! We went here after a Sunday brunch and it serously felt like an old school ice cream parlor.
None of us could decide between all of the awesome flavors available and the staff indulged us while we had at least 5 samples each.
They have about 30 flavors of ice cream, 10 different styles of cones, in addition to floats, sundaes, etc. All of it was really good quality ice cream.

Love this place! Its a perfect compliment to the carousel thats a few blocks away.
My daughter experienced her first taste of ice cream here (Key lime pie flavor). It has a slightly old timey feel, great ice cream, friendly staff, and good prices.
So far we’ve tried butter brickle, key lime pie, strawberry cheese cake, and red velvet flavors. They were all pretty great except the red velvet. It was good, but not great.
