I’ve been to Lyman’s exactly once: to get a NH state inspection sticker, so take this FWIW:
I went there the previous day w/​o an appt., & the woman at the counter said they couldn’t do it then, but made an appt. for the next morning. I thought it was a bit odd that she just wrote it down on a piece of paper, but she was friendly.
Next morning, I showed up; not sure if they knew I had an appt., but they weren’t busy so they did the work. I also needed them to get the old (Mass.) plates off, b/​c 1 or 2 of the screws were so rusty. I could hear them using a grinder to do that, & thought maybe they’d charge me an extra $ 20 or something, but they didn’t.
Thing is; both guys were extremely down-​to-​earth & friendly. This is like an «old school» garage, out of the 1950’s or 60’s maybe…

Unprofessional business practices. Called in the morning to make an appt for the afternoon (same day). Showed up and was turned away because ‘nobody wrote it in the book’. Ridiculous! If the cant get the most basic things done, why ever trust with the big ones?
