Visiting from far, far away I found a place that felt like home. The bartender Katie and many of the employees/owners of the bar were incredibly friendly. It seemed that everyone was a regular, or at least were treated like one. I ordered the IPA initially but was offered a sample of the double IPA which was spectacular and better than the regular version. The beer was very good and if I wasn’t sure that my luck would have a bottle of it explode in my carry on luggage I would have purchased a couple to take home. I want to say that the friendly helpful staff and the atmosphere of this bar is spectacular. I was traveling by myself and I went out for«one beer.» After talking with the lovely bartender for a while I was introduced to a regular customer and a few others — I have to say that I had one of the more enjoyable nights out that I’ve had in quite a long time, and that’s saying a lot considering I went out alone. I stayed until a few minutes before closing time. I really enjoyed my visit to Hamilton, but I have to say that going out and meeting a couple locals and enjoying some local brews really sealed the deal. TIP: You will likely need to show two forms of ID if you’re out of state!

Fun place, particularly when they have live music. Good beers and hard cider. I enjoyed the chocolate stout ½ed with pale ale.

Good Nature Brewing has been a favorite stop at the beer festivals for a few years now. To finally make it into their physical location has solidified them as one of my top 5NY Brewers. Great space, super friendly and helpful staff, delicious beer.

The beer is excellent and they often have some really interesting experimental batches and collaborations with other NY breweries on tap. The bartenders have always been friendly and I find the taproom an entirely pleasant spot. I tend to stop in during daylight hours, so I don’t have a sense of what the evening dynamic is like. Looking forward to many happy returns and growler fills.

I went here last night with a friend and we had an OK experience. My friend did the beer tasting where you get to pick 5 – 6 beers to try for like $ 10 dollars which is a good deal… I had the hard raspberry cider which was excellent. The beers I tasted were OK… I enjoyed myself, the only reason I’m giving 3 stars is bc the bartender was so damn rude it was unbelievable!!!

What a lovely surprise to find this tap room! My husband and I went to the Hamilton Farmer’s Market for the first time and saw this place next to the green. We stopped in and quickly fell in love with it. The staff was incredibly friendly and the beer delicious. We tried a flight and then had a pint each. We couldn’t resist and left with a growler in hand. This place is definitely going to be on the tour for our out-of-town friends that come visit us. On a side note, we stopped in at noon on a Saturday. I would imagine the feel of the place changes dramatically when filled with Colgate students in the evening. I plan to stick to day-drinking…responsible day-drinking, of course.

I’d give zero stars if that were an option. My husband has gone to Good Nature Brewing many times when we have visited our children at Colgate over the years. The last time he went we discovered one of the growlers we purchased was cracked along a seam and had leaked all over the clothing we had wrapped it in(new purchases from the Colgate Book Store that we were giving as gifts). When we returned a bartender gave us a voucher for a new growler($ 18 value) and apologized, but asked us to return the next day to speak with the owner. We did, and the owner, Carrie Blackmore, said she had heard the story but refused to reimburse us because she had no idea if we had cracked the growler. We tried to explain that we had wrapped them all safely and had taken many home previously without incident, but she insisted her growlers were strong and we must have done something wrong, and she would not reimburse us for something that was not her fault. However, she said that her bartender left us the money and emphasized that he, not she, was reimbursing us for the growler. We refused the money and left a used growler that we were planning to fill since we will not be returning. We have never experienced such aggressively rude customer service – total opposite of other establishments in Hamilton, NY.

Great local brews. I love the atmosphere and BYOF(Bring Your Own Food) set-up. I actually just carried down a plate of food from my apartment one day. Another plus is that it’s probably the most«mature» crowd in Hamilton(well besides the Colgate Inn). They’ve ensured this older and exclusively legal drinking crowd by checking ‘GateCards as well as IDs. So seniors can feel comfortable talking about job searches and professors can meet up with friends without seeing any drunken freshman running for the restroom. HUGE plus. Also, if you aren’t a beer drinker, the ciders are awesome.

Great beers and really nice staff. They are very well informed and a close-knit group who can tell you anything you want to know about the brewing process and business side of the brewery. The tasting is very good, but it can be confusing. They have things hanging on the wall that tell you what beers they have available. Then, they hand you a paper and marker to indicate which beers you want in your tasting. Half the beers on the paper, they do not have(because they are not on the wall). So, it seems like they should either just hand you a blank paper so you can write down what you want(from the wall), or print up papers each day that have the beers that are actually available.
