DiSorbo’s Italian Bakery

Steve made the most creative and amazing cake for a party I threw for my husband. My husband is a pilot in the Air Force and the cake was in the shape of his plane (C-​130) with MOVING propellers!!! It was the hit of the party! Steve was extremely professional and courteous to work with. It was a pleasure working with him on this fun project.

Best Cannoli
This is my favorite place to get cannoli for over 20 years. I live in Miami and a trip to Connecticut isn’t complete until I come here. The filling has the perfect consistency, not too thin and not too sweet.
It is a very small place and could use a face lift but my rating is purely on the pastry.

One of these days my career aspirations and stress-​induced sweet tooth will cause serious health ramifications, but thankfully today isn’t that day.
While I was actively evading studying and all things dreadful, I searched Unilocal for surrounding bakeries, and this one fit the bill… Mostly because of the free cannoli offer. I got the cannoli, a small chocolate pie, and a chocolate cupcake. The total only came to $ 3.50! So cheap! My mom and Sallie Mae would be so proud.
I inhaled the chocolate cupcake and the cannoli; they were both fine. The cannoli was filled to order so the shell was crispy, and the filling was creamy without being too sweet. The cupcake was a standard cupcake – nothing to write home about, but satisfactory overall. I didn’t eat the pie yet because I got an impulsive order of General Tso’s chicken on my way home and ate that instead. I’m going to be so fat next week.

I ordered a yellow cake with nutella filling. It was a waste of money as the cake was made incorrectly. I got a chocolate cake with buttercream filling. When I emailed Steve to make him aware of the mistake he said… sorry I wrote down what you said but I didn’t make what you said, oops. Basically that will be my last order with this bakery.

I grew up one street down from here, so the made to order cannolis, cakes (strawberry rum was my birthday regular) and bread are comfort food to me. It’s a great, neighborhood Italian bakery, better than most.
They’ve been around forever and likely will stick around the rapidly declining neighborhood. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed.

OK this might be the best bakery ever. Not because I know them, but in all seriousness it is because it is delicious. The bakery is a nice location right in Hamden and they have a great selection. They do customized cakes and also offer italian pastries and the «PARTY CANNOLI» which has to be the best invention in the intire world (one huge cannoli that includes about 40 cannoli’s inside of it). They made my sister’s bridal shower cake and it was delicious and they are making my wedding cake. Do not go anywhere else !

My family has been going here for years. We grew up with them they are our go to place for Italian pastries and for our Easter pies. They have amazing cakes too. Fresh Italian bread and rolls. Try the Lobster Tail pastry.

BEST BROCCOLI BREAD IN THE COUNTRY — BAR NONE! I’ve been going to DiSorbo’s since their cousin (or whatever relation!) had the DiSorbo’s on Grand Avenue in New Haven. Theirs was equally as delicious, but for me this DiSorbo’s always won out as they do not put sausage (or any meat) in their regular Broccoli (or Spinach) bread. I believe they will on special order, but without it is a stunning product! The bread itself is thin slightly crispy crust yet chewy doughy on the inside, the broccoli is tender and spiced with a bit of red pepper flake and lots of olive oil. Overall the product is so good that generally half of it is gone by the time I get it home! Especially great in the morning when it is still hot from the oven, simply a decadent feast! The spinach bread is equally as good though I prefer the broccoli. Their regular Italian breads are also quite good for standard white flour breads, and I can’t speak to the rest as I don’t like sweets, though they look on par with the famous Lucibellos and prices are quite reasonable. Nice family owned and operated. ENJOY!

Picked up some deserts for a little get together. Can’t say enough. Awesome cannoli’s.

I started going to DiSorbo’s many years ago on Grand Ave. and followed them to Dixwell. I belive that a nephew or cousinnow owns and runs it. Italian Pastries, fugetabout it! Italian berad as it should be, crisp dense crust pillow soft inside. Cicoli bread is outstanding. Order a espresso coffee whil you wait.

I was absolutely NOT into baking this Thanksgiving. And I wasn’t really in the mood for the traditional pumpkin pie, apple pie blah blah … so I had a stroke of genius … DiSorbo’s!
I have been to this place many times since moving to Hamden 6 years ago and have always been knocked out by what I;ve gotten here. Now I am someone who has had Italian pastries all over the northeast and ever since I was a little boy (and my waistline proves it!) but DiDorbo’s has sold me –by far– the best I have ever had each and every time,
This time I really splurged because I wanted a nice spread for company so I got:
— a Cannoli Pie (ricotta cheesecake with chocolate shavings folded in .in a rich pastry crust with a lattice top) … absolutely delicious with a little dollop of whipped cream
— Sfogliatelle (the most buttery delicious pastry clamshells I have ever had. the filling was just sweet enough — with a nice hint of citrus)
— Custard Filled Pies (again, their pastry here blows me away. it is SO buttery, rich and delicate. i’d love to know their secrets!). I got both the vanilla and chocolate custard filled pies. They also come in cheese-​filled, but I had enough cheese-​filled in the other things I bought.
It was a very impressive looking dessert table, everyone RAVED about it all. and within a very short time, nothing was left. NO ONE missed that old pumpkin pie !
This place is top notch, very old-​school feeling and the staff is always so friendly here. I can’t recommend this place highly enough … love DiSorbo’s!

Very fresh shells and super creamy filling… Otherwise it’s a dark place and in need of a little updating inside-​imho.
They have a few pastries but not a huge assortment.
Go for the cannoli’s!

This weekend my uncle brought a bunch of Disorbo’s pastries over my Noni’s house. I ended up eating two cannoli’s that day. They were two of the best cannoli’s that I have had in a long time. My husband had a lobster tail which he scarfed down, so I am guessing he loved it :) Everyone seemed to enjoy dessert. Now I know that Disorbo’s is definitely worth a trip!
