We have an extensive paint department — Ben Moore, Valspar, Clark+Kensington — and a full team of paint specialists to assist you with any sized project — for home DIYers and contractors alike.

We cater to Coastsiders with hunting and fishing equipment and licenses; small kitchen appliances and gadgets; art, school and office supplies; and Carhartt, Wrangler and Coastside clothing.

We will special order anything you need, so you don’t have to travel over the hill! Just let us know!

We are also your garden, plumbing, electrical and hardware store with brands like STIHL, Craftsman, Milwaukee, Remington, Bona, GE, Kitchen Aid and Pyrex.

We are a certified STIHL repair location, and a small engine repair shop, specializing in two– and four-​stroke engines; chain saw chain, lawnmower, axe and hedge trimmer sharpening. We offer screen repair; knife sharpening, re-​keying, sidewinder key cutting; and glass and plexiglass cutting.

Established in 2003.

Hassett Hardware has been family owned and operated since 1957! The Hassetts bought the Half Moon Bay ACE Hardware in 2003, and continue to broaden the ways in which it serves the Coastside.

Our goal is to help Coastsiders get everything they need without making a trip over the hill!

Eric and Richard Hassett run our Half Moon Bay location, as well as four other locations in the Bay Area — Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Mateo and Willow Glen. The Hassett brothers are third-​generation hardware store owners and pride themselves on running family-​friendly, customer-​service oriented stores.

If your a woman and need paint go to Ace in Pacifica, the guys in the paint dept are so rude and unhelpful. Awful Awful Customer Service, I really try to shop local but I avoid here if at all possible. Hassett Ace is not the place of the helpful hardware store!

This place saved our asses!
Lets just say something very important feel into the crevice of the handbrake of our car and we really needed it back. Dealerships were closed, but not this place. They had a device that is like a mini claw grabber that you see in those old school arcades and the sucker worked like a charm! Made us all breath a sigh of relief.
The first item we bought didn’t work, but they returned in no problem. I can’t say much besides thank you Ace Hardware. You really saved our entire weekend.

This is the last time we come here. I’m all for supporting local businesses, but it’s ridiculous when the same two individuals take their bad day out on customers. It’s always the same two ladies who are rude when you ask a question. Will take my business elsewhere.

Michael and Jacqueline really made my shopping for electrical parts a great success this afternoon. So much so, that Michael even went to the trouble of opening and finding some of the things I needed in the shipment that arrived just this afternoon!!! Love love love this store! The staff are friendly and always ask if you need assistance. They have everything. They pack a lot of stuff in that store. I live in El Granada and could easily go to the El Granada Hardware/​sandwich shop but I would rather skip the grumpy attitude there and bring my business to Ace. Good job Hassett hardware!

I was really impressed with this store. I bought an electric chainsaw from them about 6 months ago. It was not working well and so took it in for them to look at. They were so nice about it. They were able to take a look at it right away and informed me kindly that I had the chain on backwards! They fixed it, gave me some maintenance tips, filled the oil and sent me on my way, all for no change. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Wow!

Since my last review, Oceanshore Ace Hardware has changed ownership and is now Hassett Ace Hardware. Still an old-​time (and I mean that in the best possible way) hardware store where you can get just about anything you need. They have it all — ply wood, hammers, plants, toilets, light fixtures, glue, birthday cards, Christmas ornaments, irons, egg beaters, and clothing. It’s a one stop shop! And, yes, my grandmother and mother must frequent the hardware store still on every trip to check out the new inventory.

Oh man… the love affair continues. EVERY single time I go to Hassett Hardware, I continue to be amazed. My wife and I just bought our first house and we have big plans to make it better in so many ways. From painting inside and out, to electrical problems, to minor plumbing issues, there is so much expertise available in this store. I got a bit of advice for a small plumbing fix. I never would have thought of what they told me, but the bit of advice save me hundreds of dollars and an emergency visit from a plumber. I’m so grateful!
We also got some great help from the English guy at the paint center. We absolutely hate the texture on the walls, and we shared that with the expert. I assumed that the only option was to hire a mud/​plaster guy to do the entire house, but I learned that this is not true. I wish I could remember the guy’s name… so helpful! He told us exactly what we needed to resurface the walls ourselves, gave us a bunch of advice on technique, and told us exactly how to do the job.
No matter what, I have confidence that when I go to Hassett Hardware, the helpful staff will give me exactly what I need.

This is my favorite hardware store. Why? They have everything. Their staff is incredibly helpful and nice. If I don’t know how to do something, the staff will ask around and get me someone who can. And heck, if they don’t know the answer, there is often another customer around who has the answer.
I would go here over the big box stores any day.

If you are working along the coast anywhere between Davenport and HMB this is the only hardware store to be found. There are probably other stores in HMB but if you make a drive up the coast because you need something dont take a chance anywhere else. Ace is the place…
The building itself is shaped a bit strange so getting lost is easy but just yell for help and someone will find you.
Ive only ever come here when I was in a pinch and needed parts quickly and Ive never left without what i needed.

Great for mason jars! I bought a lot of supplies here for my DIY wedding supplies. The inventory is grea, I can always find what I need here. The service is hit or miss. It’s not uncommon for the front counter girls to look like they want to be ANYWHERE but at work, or going to the key area where employees are chatting and take awhile to greet/​notice you. But there are also employees that are wonderfully helpful, and really love their job. I love their Unilocal specials and coupons I get in the mail :)

I stumbled upon this hardware store on my way home from the Annual HMB Pumpkin Festival and have been a huge fan ever since.
From the outside it looks like a very simple looking mom and pop hardware store, but one you get inside, wow, very organized, DIY friendly Ace Hardware Store.
For the weekend DIYer this is the place to go for nuts bolts, nails, screws, plumbing, paints electrical, etc. They have an amazing section inside.
The best deal in the store IMHO are the bulk/​by the pound dry wall screws, vinyl sinkers, and galvanized screws. They only charge $ 2.49 a pound for dry wall screws which is less half of what the large big box Hardware stores charge for the same 1 lb box of screws.
Ocean Shore really makes it affordable for the average home owner who wants to save a few bocks but does not need to buy 50 lbs of screws to get the best deal in town.

Don’t be fooled– this isn’t just a hardware store, it’s an amazing collection of everything ever. Half Moon Bay is a small place so it’s always nice to find a shop that has a lot of variety! Ocean Shore has the following: all things hardware stores should have (we’ve bought tools, fuses, extension cords, etc), BBQ grill section (my dad got us a tiny one for camping!!), art supplies (really), great gardening section/​lots of stuff for pest control, nice paints, holiday decorations (go all out for Halloween of course– it’s HMB after all), a kitchen section (again, really!), cards, birds section (got our hummingbird feeder & nectar here), and even clothing.
The staff of Ocean Shore is wonderful and always very helpful. Whenever they send me a $ 5 coupon in the mail I walk back over there to get something new that I’ve been waiting to get. Really glad there’s a place like this in town!

I have been to Ocean Shore Hardware countless times, so this review is long overdue. These folks have some of the best customer service of any store, anywhere.
It may not look big from the outside, but once you’re in you’ll be amazed at all the stuff they sell. Of course there’s hardware, but there is also paint, gardening supplies, greeting cards, holiday decorations, camping gear, clothing, housewares, craft items, office supplies, and even makeup (well, lip gloss). This comes in handy because ours is a somewhat isolated community. Many a time Ocean Shore has saved me a long and aggravating trip «over the hill» to our more populated cities to the east.
There are always several friendly employees around to help you find what you’re looking for. Thank goodness, because sometimes I think I could get lost in this place!
