Great food, good service & inexpensive price. Love it & will invite friends come again.

On a rainy day spicy Chinese is my go to comfort food! I was pleasantly surprised to find this particular spot via Unilocal.
I looked over the reviews and photos and saw that the popcorn chicken, toothpick lamb and wontons in chili oil are fan favorites.
I deferred to my fellow Unilocalers and ordered the beef and tofu, popcorn chicken, cold chili noodles, and wontons in spicy chili oil. The portions were generous and the food was delicious! The wontons were perfectly prepared and tasted great as leftovers.
This place is now added as one my go-​to spots for what I consider to be a rainy day remedy.
Must try items: popcorn chicken and the cold noodles!

This place lacks in flavor but makes up for it in how spicy it can get. The cold dishes making be lacking in some condiments, but the main dishes are solid in taste; although the spicy numbing taste covers over the taste of the food, so you do not get to enjoy the original taste of the food. The service is pretty poor as the waitress who might have been new, ignored all raised hands and kept looking down at the cash register when she was not doing anything.

This place was pretty off the hook. I had the tooth pick lamb, OMG… so good. Kind of reminded me of birria (Mexican dish made with red chile and goat) I had two other dishes and they were both really really good. Service was fast and to the point. Nothing bad to say at all. I will be coming back again really soon.

Just wanted to try this place since i love Szechuan food, but out of all the szechuan food i’ve tried, this is just average.
The portion is small, eventhough put it on it HUGE plate, but they only fill it with one thin layer, same goes for every order.
Way too greasy and enough taste for some… but the main thing for me was the PORTION…
Probably won’t go back here…

SPICY SPICY AND NUMBING SPICY! The food was fast, fresh, and delicious!!! I am personally not a avid chili oil kinda of person but if it was for my friends we were craving spicy Chinese food I would never discover this little gem. Boiled Fish and Toothpick Lamb is a must try.

Very good food! Like their Peppercorn chicken and cold noodles! Have been here a few times and haven’t been disappointed so far. Their spicy dishes are generally on the medium spicy side for an average person. So be sure to ask for extra spicy if you have a high tolerance!

I cannot understand this place gets any stars above 3.
*Attention!* all the spicy dishes taste all the same at this restaurant. My girlfriend and I got sick of eating the same flavor and end up getting a headache from MSG. With spicy dishes, we ordered rice and the quality of rice wasn’t good with dishes. Moreover, when we get a check and tried to pay for it by my credit card, the waitress told me that the credit card isn’t available under $ 35. WTF? It doesn’t even notice anywhere, and the stupid waitress told me that it is the rule. WTF, seriously? I am not coming back.

Been here three times and all three times the food is amazing! I think the flavors here are way better than Chengdu Taste. 這家比成都滋味好吃多了！
Their food is not as greasy as other places. The food here is spicy but you can still appreciate the original flavor of the item. 麻辣很麻但是你還能吃得出來菜的原味。
Spicy Chicken-​口水雞– delicious. The chicken was covered in spicy numbing oil. Soooo good.
Spicy Fish-​水煮魚– they give you so much fish. You can pick three side items that goes into the broth. I did bean sprouts and tofu and more tofu. It was really good. 份量很多。你可以配三種小菜放在湯裡。
Toothpick Lamb– 牙籤羊肉 ahhhhhhh I get these everywhere and this is the best. The cumin is evident but they flash fry the lamb so it is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It reminds me of popcorn chicken. 這個是他們最好吃的菜。
Pork Belly with Garlic-​白肉蒜泥– sooo good. The pork belly is thin and that garlic spicy oil… So good. I think it can be more garlic but that’s just me. 這個菜超級好吃。我覺得大蒜不夠但是我很能吃大蒜所以我的口味有點不同吧

Pretty authentic Chinese food. Place is clean. I appreciate smart staff. All in all a good experience. Will come back

Can’t say this is authentic Szechuan food. It’s not spicy enough to, not thrilling enough. Sooooo I don’t recommend this place.

came on a Monday for lunch, there were only my table and one other table, when I walked in the restaurant smelled rancid, that was a big point off.
We ordered 3 dishes and I will only rate on the 3 dishes and the infamous bad service that I have read on Unilocal .
1. Cauliflower dry pot −3÷5 it’s not bad but not excellent, a bit on the salty side, was not very spicy although you see a lot of dried chillies peppers, however it is pretty numbing which I kinda like, it has a medley of cauliflower, lotus root, celery, and bean sprouts.
2. House special boiled fish — ³⁄₅ again this dish is just OK, a bit on the salty side, there was no other flavor but just salty, spicy and numbing, tastes similar to the cauliflower dry pot except this is fish in a very spicy and oily soup.
3. Spicy fried intestine– ²⁄₅ this was a huge disappointment, the intestines were over fried to a point it was hard to chew, again the dish is extremely salty and there was no other flavor but being salty and spicy numbing, we all took a bite and left the dish alone.
I can probably predict all of their other spicy dishes are most likely with similar taste since they’re all done with chili and peppercorn to give you that spicy numbing taste, we didn’t order any of the stir-​fried dishes that was not spicy, we thought we would try their House favorites, and they all turned out just salty and of the same flavor, truly a disappointment since there were some good reviews, the check came out to be $ 37, I think it’s a bit pricey for what it’s worth. This will be one of these restaurants for me just to try once and probably won’t return again, my mother being from the province of Sezchuan I know that there is More to Sezchuan cuisine then just salty, spicy and numbing.
On the service, I would say it was sufficient only, the waiter brought the menu, came to order and served the dishes that is all, but it was not negative like some of the reviews have indicated. The best you would expect at a Chinese restaurant.

Rating based solely on the food we ordered.
1. Toothpick Lamb — must order! It was super good. Like quite possibly one of the best Szechuan style lamb dishes I have ever had. And I’ve had quite a few of this dish at various restaurants! Not as spicy as I would’ve liked, and we asked for extra spicy too! But the taste alone compensates for such a minute detail of an amazing dish.
2. Beef Noodle Soup — I forgot what this dish is actually called. It’s not like the regular Taiwanese beef noodle soup, this one has a slight sesame taste to it. I could taste the sesame when I added the soup to my rice. It was pretty good. The noodles had flavor as well.
The lamb though, the one dish you can’t go without when ordering here. Unless you don’t like lamb, then I feel bad for you.

The first time I visited was with my family. We ordered their house special boiled fish which had the numbing spice peppercorn as well as all the red chilies. It was definitely delicious but over time, it gets a bit overwhelming to eat. You’ll need a lot of rice (roughly $ 1/​bowl) or water.
The second time visiting with friends, they upgraded their water cups to some Mao Zedong mugs; fitting for the seemingly Chinese homey feel of the restaurant but somewhat Communist? I don’t know… Regardless, their fried cumin fish fillet was a popular favorite. We also tried the string beans with eggplant, spicy wontons, dan dan mien noodles, and the popcorn chicken. A word on the popcorn chicken… I don’t know if the waitress heard me wrong, but it came out wet and not the fried version. It also had peanuts which made me think the dish was actually kung pao chicken rather than popcorn chicken. It was still tasty but it had a weird mix of sweet, sour, and savory unlike any other kung pao’s I’ve had. Their wood ear appetizer has also always been my favorite among the seaweed, tofu skin, and cucumber.
Service was a bit slow since the restaurant was still busy even 30 mins before closing. Overall, it is a busy restaurant no matter the time of day too so its a sign that it’s definitely worth a try if you’re up for some good spicy food.
Some of these dishes have so much chilies that you can even pack them to-​go and cook additional dishes at home with them!

It’s a little pricey, but the food is pretty good. Some of the stuff could be a little less greasy, however the flavors are generally good. My one issue is with their stupid lamb toothpick dish. For what they’re charging, they’re serving you more toothpick than lamb! Why the heck are you skimping on the lamb in a lamb dish!
Also, I’d pass their beef noodle soup. I had thought it would be spicy take on beef noodle soup, but it was pretty average.

It’s actually quite good, and it’s up to par with some of the other good Sichuan restaurants in the 626.

They have a really neat system for cooking the boiled fish or boiled whatever protein dish. You pretty much can mix and match all your favorite ingredients inside your pot.
+La zhi (spicy stir fried) intestines,
Pretty much deep fried intestines stir fried in a mountain of dried red chili, garlic, and Chinese pepper corn aka flower pepper. With the chili and pepper, you get the 2 intense flavors of the «ma la» mouth feel. In English «spicy and numbing.»
Veggies
+Stir fried string beans.
Very Chinese meal seems incomplete without either a vegetable dish or soup. Although I didn’t get soup. I did get something quite green and tasty. Stir fried with garlic and black bean sauce. Savory delicious string beans covered lightly with minced garlic and umami flavors.
There was no complaint about the food or service. All this came out to $ 43 after tax. So pretty good for a complete meal for 3 – 4 people. But other than that, there’s nothing over the top, nor out of this world. It’s your typical Sichuan cuisine (done right).
Most of the servers prefer to speak Chinese, I should have ordered in English to test it out. But I’m sure their English isn’t bad. Parking is a breeze, since it’s in the same plaza as 99 ranch. This is a super convenient location, next to some decent eateries all around. So far, this would be my preferred Sichuan restaurant in the 626 east. I really need to hit up more of these places to get a good grasp of the local spicy food scene.

This review is solely based on their Dan Dan Noodles and nothing else… Came here based on the recommendation of my buddy 626drift to sample their Dan Dan Noodles and here are my thoughts.
Dan Dan Noodles: For a Sichuan Restaurant named Spicy Home, Where is the spice bro? No peanuts either? I really feel like I was eating Sesame noodles as opposed to Dan Dan Noodles. It wasn’t spicy and tasted very plain jane. Where was the EXPLOSION of FLAVOR IN MY MOUF bro? Nowhere to be found that’s where!
*I still feel that the best Dan Dan Noodles I’ve ever had and still the undisputed King of Dan Dan would have to be Lucky Noodle King. They have that down to an exact science! Holy Cow.

Not gonna lie… the main reason I ended up here originally is cuz I’m too damn lazy to drive to Alhambra and wait in line for Chengdu Taste… this seemed like a pretty decent knockoff… especially for a dumbass like me who doesn’t know any better anyways.
Staff has always been really friendly by the way.
TOOTHPICK LAMB
Not mind numbingly hot at all… really damn good actually. Nicely seasoned lamb, pretty spicy hot if you eat more than half in one sitting with no rice… the pieces at the bottom got to be a tad bit oily but this is great to share.
SPICY SHREDDED PORK OVER RICE
Great option for lunch, plenty of tasty spicy shredded pork over steamed rice for only $ 8.
SPICY SAUTEED PORK
The amount of jalapenos was kinda overkill but the pork itself wasn’t extremely spicy. Some of the pork was a tad bit dry but not too bad.
BEEF ON RICE
Surprisingly flavorful but definitely not spicy at all… regardless, pretty good.
DAN DAN NOODLE
I prefer the version from No 1 noodle house on Colima but this version was pretty damn good as well. Perfectly cooked noodles and lots of flavorful spice in the ground pork.
I’ll be sure to come back when that inexplicable urge to burn my lips off strikes me.

Came for lunch today and tried one of the best sui ju yiu (excuse my awful pinyin), aka water cooked fish if you translate it directly, I’ve ever had and the generous portions are just icing on the cake. (See photo of this dish next to a regular sized bowl of rice for reference)
We ordered quite a bit more than we were able to consume and took home enough food for another meal since we were only in SoCal for the weekend and had been craving for some good szechuan food.
In addition to the fish, we ordered the 3 choice cold appetizer that you choose from their display case ($ 4.95), Spicy mung bean jelly, spicy and sour vermicelli, sautéed string beans (no meat), and mapo tofu (no meat). Everything was delicious and all the portions were generous yet affordable around $ 5 — $ 10 with the exception of the fish which was either $ 14 or $ 15.
Also, seems like they’ve gotten over their growing pains now as service was great and we got all our dishes promptly.

At first I didn’t like Spicy Home. All the traditionally Szechuan dishes that we ordered weren’t even spicy! But then I thought about how all the flavors were there. I could enjoy my food without the spicy numbing chili oil!
Most dishes were spot on and satisfied my Chinese food craving! Started off with the 3-​appetizer combo from the salad bar – so delicious while we waited for the main dishes to arrive.
The fish filet hot pot was huge! There was a selection of veggies that can be added to it. The redness looked intimidating but it wasn’t overwhelmingly spicy.
I love spicy wontons. The dish wasn’t bad here (A&J is my fave place to order them). The ones at Spicy Home weren’t spicy but they were juicy and the sauce was still tasty.
Got the sautéed dish of lotus roots with bacon and onion. Chinese bacon is different from western bacon so this dish is worth trying. It had a different smoky flavor than your normal breakfast type. And I love the flavors from the different leeks.
I was disappointed by the dan dan noodle. Not spicy and not saucy enough. They sort of skimped on the sesame paste and just turned out dry. We also ordered a duck dish that never came out and we were still charged for it. The waitress didn’t even notice that hadn’t arrived.
Prices are reasonable. I’m glad this restaurant is new to the are. I would recommend for all to try. The restaurant is also clean and appealing plated.

Only open a month this smaller sized restaurant offers Sichuan style cuisine. Lunch hour was busy and I lucked out and snatched up the last open table. You won’t find any weekday lunch specials here unfortunately.
Since I look Chinese the waitress started talking to me in Mandarin which happens all the time. I spoke to her in English and she sent over a waiter who could understand me. The menu is diverse with the exception of beef noodle soup which surprised me but they offer cold appetizers at the front counter for purchase. The popular item seemed to be the fish hot pot so I ordered one and an order of ground pork with glass noodles. The food arrived in a timely manor. The entrees were on the mild side which I requested and added spicy chili and seasoned to my preference. The hot pot fish was tender and the pickled veggies gave it a sour taste which was unique but an enjoyable entrée. The ground pork noodles were okay and something I can make at home so I wouldn’t order that in the future.
Spicy home is clean and modern looking and was enjoyable to dine at. Service decent and the staff were friendly. The establishment accepts visa which is always a positive since I’m a rewards point fan.
