History

Established in 1996.

Brian Breon originally opened this business to provide room service to hotels located in downtown Pismo Beach. After six months, he opened up to the anyone in town. In 1999, he changed the name to «Restaurants To You» and became a full service multi-​restaurant delivery service. In 2009, he changed the name to Café Runner and continues to operate the business to this day.

I started this business out of my bedroom in Pismo Beach back in 1996 with an $ 1800 tax return my wife and I received. I was 20 years old and worked at the front desk of a local resort. During the slow hours at the hotel, I would write down business ideas in a little leather-​bound daily planner I had. One day I saw room service delivering food to a guest and a light bulb went off in my head. I called all the hotels in the five cities and found that only 3 of them had room service. So I started a business providing «room service» to hotels called Room Service Extraordinaire. I originally started out with three restaurants and ran it out of my home with help from my dad and my wife. Within 6 months, I realised that delivery volume from hotel guests was never going to take this business very far so I decided to deliver to everyone in town. In 1999, we became Restaurants To You and in 2009, we became Café Runner. Same business, different name. I thank God and all of our customers!
