Specialties

We serve organic, fair-​trade coffee from roasters in Northern California. Every cup is ground and brewed to order. We also offer innovative, hand-​crafted espresso drinks that use only really extracts, organic chocolate, and raw honey. Additionally, we have plenty of lactose-​free options, loose-​leaf teas, and hand-​squeezed juices. Yosemite Baking Company provides sweet and savory baked goods baked fresh daily.

Recently we fully renovated the interior and added plenty of couches, a warm pellet stove, and an expanded photo gallery featuring renowned photographer, Robb Hirsch. Free, fast Wi-​Fi is also available. Come enjoy a chill day at The Sage!

…NICK…A Vermont/​New Hampshire native who’s been living in the Sierra’s for three years. He has fourteen years of industry experience and has managed and owned bars and cafes throughout the United States. He is a serious trail runner and devourer of books. He now calls the quaint town of Groveland «home».

…JACK… A St. Louis native who found himself in the Sierra’s last year. He has been in the industry for nine years, working across the United States in New York City, Colorado, St. Louis, and now California. He can be also be found running the local trails or baking a mean loaf of bread.

Cute place to stop for coffee. Highly recommended by my Airbnb host! My friend and I were hoping they had a bigger food menu. They only had frittatas and burritos that they just warmed in a toaster type thing. The barista was very friendly and made me a great cappuccino! Overall very cute and just what we needed!

Emily and Chelsea are always a treat to visit with whenever I am passing through the area. The coffees are amazing (the mocha Orange is my fave) and the baked goods are always changing and equally delicious.
Also, the space is super homey and the gallery is inspiring.

This is a beautiful little spot to grab some yummy coffee or tea. The building is an old house, so the layout can be a bit confusing at first, but they have lots of cozy furniture inside and out to enjoy your coffee and relax. They also have a fairly large garden you can take a stroll through. The gal that helped us (Raven, I believe?) was very kind and inviting. Overall, this place is great! Only downfall would’ve the hours! I’d love for it to be open later in the day!

Wonderful place to hang out and get a coffee by the fire. House brewed coffee is good and reasonably priced. Lattes are also good. Wife tried the Spanish latte today and we enjoyed it. Has dulce de leche and some kind of spice in it. Other patrons had something to eat and it smelled wonderful. The place makes a point to try and make all of their offerings from scratch with whole ingredients as much as possible. Simple and good.

Mountain Sage’s cup overflows with good vibes and righteous coffee in a gorgeous setting with sweet people. What’s not to love?
En route to Yosemite and en away too lies the cutesy, make you want to leave the grind, foothills meet mountain town of Groveland. Mountain Sage appears to be its unofficial community center. It’s a plant nursery, concert venue, gallery, and café. I usually recalibrate my coffee snobbishness when I’m outside of an urban area, but that was unnecessary here! Not sure what coffee beans they’re serving, but the coffee and chai came correct. My sweetie got some refreshing sweet mocha orange drink on one visit, and I got the sense that you can’t go wrong with anything here. Enjoying these tasty beverages outside in the garden, surrounded by native plants and a curious cat, is an excellent way to pass your time and either acclimate to the mountains, or savor them before returning to where you came from.

At first I thought it was a little too «hippy» for me, but the relaxed atmosphere is just made that much better by the great coffee and awesome service. I went here for a concert too. Tons of family fun! This place far surpasses fire fall down the road. In every single way!

I go to Groveland at least a few times each year and I always wander into Mountain Sage no matter what the season. In summer there is the Farmer’s market and of course the live music on the outdoor stage every weekend. I have wanted to attend their gardening workshops but haven’t made it just yet. The coffee is perfect, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is just what you need if you want to just wander, relax and browse the art of the local area. I recommend taking advantage of their WiFi lounge. In winter, the fire keeps you warm, and in spring they have a cooled room that feels like you are the guest in a B&B. I always walk out feeling like I just had a day at the spa, mountain style.

Cute independent coffee shop where you can relax inside or out as well as shop for art, jewelry, or assorted gift items. Not a big coffee drink selection but has all the basics. We were on our way to Yosemite and wanted a little pick me up so stopped here and were not disappointed. Friendly workers in a cute setting.

Love, love, love. Everyone is so friendly and genuine. The art is lovely. The garden is so beautiful and nurturing. My coffee and treats I enjoyed amazing. This is my new favorite place to be. If you drive through it is a must stop, must drink, must sit and be in the gorgeous garden. Keep an eye out for the kitty!

Our family’s getaway cabin is up in Groveland and it wasn’t until I went up with some friends that we went to Mountain Sage and we all immediately fell in love with it and now has become a must stop café while I visit. Friendly owners, staff, and regulars that you can just sit down and have a conversation with, or enjoy the fresh outdoors on the tree benches. One thing I want to see next time I go up there is their native plant and grey-​water demos that they have during the spring.

This is a great place to stretch your legs when you’re driving on highway 120. Grab a coffee, tea, or just a fruit smoothie and check out their garden and art gallery.
I loved this place. It’s super cute and feels very welcoming. I’m not a huge coffee person but I got a latte that was pretty good. The barista was really friendly.

What’s not to like?
This shop is a cute cabin perched on a hill away from the road in the tiny mountain town of Groveland. We didn’t hit up Mountain Sage for a beverage, but the walk-​up ordering counter in the back and surrounding garden landscaping certainly looked inviting.
Each door-​less room of Mountain Sage has different eclectic items for sale. The photography room is quite nice, and I also really liked the hiking-​themed room full of books and maps for purchase. During our visit last week one room contained a small but decent rack of 50% clothing, and, specifically, a puffy navy blue insulated Patagonia vest would have been a steal for $ 55 had it been available in 2XL for my boyfriend.
The Yosemite Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center can be entered through Mountain Sage – both businesses share the same cabin – and is basically a room full of free Yosemite information, free Groveland information, and free information for other nearby attractions. Lots and lots of very useful brochures, maps, and business cards are available for the taking.
Great place. I wish we had spent more time at Mountain Sage during our walk around town last Friday evening.
