Quality Inn

Wow is this place bad. I usually tip room service but no way is that happening for a toenail and pubes by the toilet. Also found a tiny toy car and a pistachio under the dresser. Almost forgot to mention the what I hope was 2 red wine stains by the sink. It had a fridge that worked– maybe the only plus. Went to get a Cherry Coke from vending– paid for one– the vending machine spit out a diet coke AND a water. … um. maybe considered a plus but wasn’t what I was looking for.
Lastly be ready to be lit up all night by the yellow patio lights. Curtains do nothing. And I could hear everyone make their business calls because I was near stairs. Good luck if you dare.

The Quality Inn in Groton is not bad for the price on dates where premiums are being charged. For instance, we were there Memorial Day weekend and the rate was substantially more than the typical rate. While not uncommon in this industry, I feel it was still too high.
The hotel was clean and fairly comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful and courtesy was beyond what I typically see. In fact, the staff was FAR superior to the staff at one of the other hotels we stayed at in the past year (Diamond Mills Hotel in Saugerties, NY). I find this odd considering the marketing propaganda of Diamond Mills and how they like to be viewed. Also far beyond ‘that other hotel’ was the television service.
What I also find odd is that this property doesn’t offer military discounts considering the strong military presence in the area and especially that it was Memorial Day.
The Internet service was outstanding in our room, a rarity for wireless service in hotels.
Overall it was a pleasant stay, again except for what I considered the price being a little too high.

Only stay there overnight so it wasn’t too bad. Coming from outside it was a but scary. Not very taken care of on the outside, def needs to be updated and/​or renovated. We saw men working on the stairs which were cracking all over, looked a bit dangerous. The rooms were very nice and clean, but you didn’t want to get outside. The ice machine was out of order. Check in is 4:00 PM but they were able to give us a room at 1:30 PM since we had a sleeping baby. I asked if they have the AAA discount but since I already paid though Expedia they didn’t do anything else. That was nice. I would not stay here again.

Do NOT stay here. The hotel itself is just old and outdated. Fine, anyone can deal with that. You can even deal with the lobby smelling like chlorine, from the pool nearby. What I couldn’t stand was the bugs I found in my bed in the middle of the night. My wife and I left immediately. Didn’t want another room, didn’t want an excuse. It was disgusting. Wrote to management about getting my money back, and they wouldn’t do it, because we didn’t go to the front desk at midnight. We’ll run establishment here. Spend a few extra bucks and go somewhere else.

you get what you pay for here. Basic. Nothing fancy. Clean but that is about all I can say

I was kind of nervous after reading some of the reviews but the price was right for a quick, one night stay.
Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming at check in/​check out. Room was clean; just could use some updating… wallpaper peeling in bathroom, old lightswitch by the door, not a lot of outlets, etc. LCD TV was a nice surprise with good channel selections. Room also came with a fridge and microwave. Microwave was dirty with some butter (?) splattered inside but wasn’t something we would be using anyway. Coffee maker also looked kind of old/​dirty. Fridge was spotless. AC took a longgg time to cool down the room, which was unbearably hot when we first entered.
Had the complimentary breakfast in the morning, which was average. Waffle station, sausage (no eggs when they have the waffle station going), two kinds of cereal, toast, hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, fruit, juice, coffee.
Never checked out the pool.
I would stay again if I was back in the area. Only about 10 minutes from Mystic and 20 – 25 minutes from Foxwoods.

For the price, I thought it was a great room. Clean beds, clean bathroom. I was expecting a lot worse for the price. The rooms have obviously been recently renovated but some of the old electric lightswitches remain.
The front desk clerk, when we checked in at about 11pm on Saturday night was exceedingly friendly, as was the housekeeper we ran into in the morning. I would definitely stay there again.

should be called the LOW quality inn. nothing but disappointments from the beginning. beds were horrible. breakfast was old fruit, cheerios or rice krispies. granted there was coffee, but no real sugar & powdered creamer. definetely will not be staying again.

For the price it’s ok. You get what your pay for. No bed bugs and good coffee. Close to just about everything.

The only reason they are getting 1 star is because of the guy at the front desk being very nice. We checked in around 7pm on Saturday night with our 13 month old son. I had read reviews on this place before deciding to stay because I wanted to make sure that it would be a clean hotel. WRONG!!! The reviews that I read obviously must have lucked out by havi g a nice clean room because when we checked into our room, it was full of little flies! Disgusting! The bathroom was old, rusty, moldy and loaded with flies. The carpet had bugs on it. So gross!!! There was no way we were letting my son crawl around a room like that, so we told the guy at the front desk that we wanted a refund and we were leaving. He told us that he understood and that «that tends to happen in the end rooms» when talking about the flies. Maybe if you stay in a room not near the end it is better, but I wouldn’t know?

A great stay for the price. Continental breakfast wasn’t bad (hey, a waffle station!) and there is free wi-​fi (although it needs to be reset constantly). Contrary to what another reviewer stated, water pressure in the shower was strong and water was hot! Reasonably comfortable beds.

Ok so I was staying one night for the hoilday weekend and I thought It was going to be sucky because everyother place was booked. I was happliy surprised how clean it was, and the front desk was so kind and helpful. I would stay again and next time I wont leave the kids home. Yhep it wasnt bad at all if id bring my kids.

Ridiculously old and under repaired. Almost drove by it because the sign was facing the wrong way. The old lady up front didn’t look like she was enjoying her job at all, but the guy was nicer. The room smelled like old people, the shower sucks, very low water pressure and drains slow. By the time you’re done in the shower you’d be standing on a pool of water. I guess you get what you pay for, and it is sort of convinient since it’s right off the highway.

Real nice and quiet area. Real nice stay. The manager was welcoming. Real scenic and quiet. Great for staying overnight on your way up/​down the I-​95 or to stay close to Foxwoods. We booked thru cheapostay for a very nice $ 58 for the night.
