Portions were generous and the food was good. Price was appropriate as well. I would rate this 3.5 stars but Unilocal hates half stars.

This was a great hotel for the price. Friendly check-​in staff, room was spacious and clean, and the free breakfast was decent for a hotel breakfast. I would stay again!

Skip this place. As many reviewers have said, our room also smelled terrible. Stale smoke and urine. I bought Febreeze but it didn’t help. You know there’s a problem when you find a typed note in the room saying no candles or incense. I’ve never seen that in a hotel. No desk or table. Only one straight-​back chair to sit in. No pictures on the walls. Paint stains on the carpet. Tub didn’t drain. Toilet was loose. We had to beg for a second bath towel. The only positives were comfortable beds and pillows (but the sheets smelled like urine). Spend a little extra and go somewhere, anywhere else.

I stayed here back in 08/​02/​2015. I tried to let it go, but the experience here bothered me for over two weeks… enough to write a review. That’s how bad it was.
Sorry, but this place is a dump! Seems like it has been since Fall 2014 if you look at the reviews. I’d absolutely recommend «NOPE!» to this hotel. Unfortunately, I got stuck here because all other rooms in the area were sold out.
We got a NON-​SMOKING room, but the entire room smelled like 200 cigarettes butts dunked inside a ground coffee can full of water. How do I know this smell? Because it smells like the smoking area of my workplace when I walk by after it rains. The humidity in the room made it even worse. They did not have auto climate control, so they left the room to bake without the AC on during a hot summer’s day. EVERYTHING in the room needs an upgrade, renovation, replacement… you name it. Bathroom amenities, phones, clock, coffee maker, TV’s, beds, bed sheets, chairs… literally everything in the room had signs of wear and tear. Water would not drain properly. At one point I thought the toilet was going to flow over after flushing, so I hopped out the bathroom the fastest I could. Bathtub took forever to drain out after showering. Squeaky floors, dirty carpet, thin walls you can hear people next door.
In addition to the disgusting parts, let me tell you about their service. The room had no hair dryer. I called the front desk. THEY were asking me where it was! And going on about «all rooms should have them… that’s so weird… I don’t understand» and kept on rambling on. I had to actually interrupt the person and say «Excuse me… excuse me… This room does NOT have a hairdryer. You mentioned it should, but it does not. So… Can you please give me one? …(silent pause)… Hello?» Then they reply they’re so sorry… don’t have any to spare. Second part of their «service» that made me cringe was their breakfast buffet. We got vouchers that says gratuities were not included. This isn’t my first time at a hotel. If the server actually SERVED us (as in brought us coffee and cleared our plates, at least), I’d understand why they deserved gratuities. However, all the «server» did was walk up and ask where our vouchers were and instructed us to place them on the table… then told us to put plates and utensils «over there» after we were done.
Skip this place… just skip it. There was a good reason why this place had availability during one of the busiest times of the year, and at such a «fair» price.

My husband and I just checked into our non smoking room. As we opened the door this pungent odor slammed into us, very bitter. We went in, it looked very clean. But the smokey fumes were so bad and old that I didn’t want to touch anything. We tried to get another room without any luck same for another hotel, so now we have decided to drive home tonight rather than stay the night. Needless to say I had to change because my clothes stank just from standing in the room.

Groton Inn? More like Rotten Inn. Room. Staff. Ambience. Service. All rotten… Like that half eaten tomato sitting in the back of your fridge that has now reduced itself to a ziplock baggie full of moldy tomato water all because that recipe you made last month only called for half and who are you to waste a perfectly good tomato half? YOUR MOTHER TAUGHT YOU BETTER THAN THAT.
Parking is ample.

This is NOT a 3-​star hotel as it appears to be advertised.
–Bed size did not match website description.
–Motel-​style rooms (door directly to parking lot).
–Window seals were broken so you couldn’t see through the windows.
–Door lock was broken, went back to the lobby 3 times when key wouldn’t work and they eventually gave us another room.
–Stained carpets
–Power outlets in room were all loose and wouldn’t hold plugs in them.
–Extremely out-​dated décor
–Staff was very rude to me because I contacted Priceline (who I booked through) about my dissatisfaction.
I do NOT recommend staying here — it will be a disappointment.

Its a little confusing to find the hotel at night with GPS. Once you find the gun, turn into the lot. Not bad for the price… the room was a suite and quite spacious. The room was clean but there were problems. The room was non-​smoking but smelled like an ashtray. Also, the wall air conditioning unit was leaking onto the floor. Otherwise we were happy with the room. You also get a voucher for a free breakfast in the restaurant… and it is a full, regular breakfast.

This place needs remodeling and an upgrade.
called it a 3-​star hotel… maybe out of ten, certainly not out of five. Booked a room with two queens…“sorry sir, we overbooked so I can put you in a smoking room (no) or a «suite» with a King bed and a rollaway.“
Negatives-​well let’s start with they didn’t have the room we booked and had to have a rollaway bed/​cot, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, a damp carpet– didn’t want I take off socks, kind of a funky aroma in the room, no place with easily accessible outlets to plug in chargers, door doesn’t close on it’s own like every other place I’ve been.
Positive, with a caveat-​Free breakfast– HOWEVER, it took 20 minutes for a waitress to come over, grumble at US because no one had taken our order, brought us drinks and then took another five minutes to come back to take our food order. Table was never cleaned. Food took forever to arrive. Tasted fine, but nothing special.
Overall, while the place is in a nice area, was bug free and had a clean bathroom, the rest of the experience did not put the Groton Inn & Suites on my «recommend’ or «would stay there again» lists…

The staff were really helpful and friendly, the room was decent, by far the best I’ve been to so far although it had its CONS. Dryer didn’t work– which it wasn’t a big deal cause thankfully I brought mines in case, lol… only one plug worked in the room, the heater wasn’t working properly. But then again as I mention, these things weren’t a big deal to me though, I have to rate it 4 stars because it does NEED some repairs to the ceilings of this place, it looks as if it had some water damages. The complimentary breakfast was good, and the waiter & waitress were really nice. Checkin in and out was a bliss, the room was comfortable to stay in as I didn’t really need it much but to take a quick nap, shower, dress etc, since I reserved it for the casino purpose. I have to say in the future if I’m in the area, I will consider to stay here again :-)

Terrible. A complete nightmare. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
My coworkers and I stayed here for three days and couldn’t wait to leave. Here were our issues:
1) They tried to put us all in smoking rooms even though we requested non-​smoking.
2) They kept messing up our departure dates in the system, and locking us out of our rooms as a result.
3) The guest washing machines often eat your money and NONE of the dryers are remotely useful. We all had to hang-​dry our clothes.
4) Many of our bathrooms had pluming problems: flooding/​spraying sinks, leaking, etc.
5) My coworker’s mini-​fridge was full of mold.
6) The costumer service was abysmal.

Clean comfortable, just a little dated looking. Halls smelled a bit funky but worth what we paid. Nice staff. I’d stay here again.

So as you roll into the lot from the front you see a cannon under the flagpoles. Seriously how absolutely spectacularly hella awesome is that? Past the cannon is an open expansive parking lot adjacent to the Inn itself.
They had a great front desk staff. I would say that Ivan was perhaps the best of all of the front desk folks that I met on my whole trip through New England. He was well versed in the vicinity and was able to assist with some great general directions and some suggestions on where and what to visit. The desk staff also enlightened the munchkin and I that they had discount tickets to some of the local tourist joints! This allowed us to save $ 8 off admission at the Mystic aquarium and confirmed that the Submarine Force Museum and USN 571 Nautilas tour were indeed free!
Pro Tip: They do not have an elevator! If you are on the second floor, be ready to hump those bags up the stairs. If that is a problem request a ground floor room.
The room, lobby, and foyer were all very clean. I was pretty happy with how the staff took pride in their work. This was sorely missing at two of the hotels I stayed at while on this trip. Let alone they were friendly here which was super helpful and appreciated.
Pro Tip #2: Vouchers for a free breakfast off the menu in the restaurant within the hotel. Real grub here, not just oatmeal and juice/​coffee!
The hotel had great freeway access. As it was adjacent to I95, heck if they were any closer, the freeway would be running through the lobby =P
Ok the minor bad/​odd points:
* Some rooms look out on the roof and nothing more. This kinda sucked for us, but were we really there to sit and look out the window or to sleep and rest between destinations?
* They had a bar placed kinda high in the shower which seemed a bit kinky… I am still not sure what it was doing there haha and yes I will post a pic.
* No pool
* The Inn appears to be going through a renewal process and is currently upgrading. I hope that they do the carpet and paint next as they are a bit dingy (not dirty, just old and ready to be revamped)
Overall we really enjoyed our time here. The hardwork by and friendliness of the staff were paramount to our great experience. I would definitely be willing to stay here again sometime…

This place is in dire need of a remodel. On the positive side it reminded me of my grandmothers house with its funky smoky aromas mixed with a healthy dose of aged mildew. On the negative side it reminded me of an even older and more worn out grandmothers house.
This was a Priceline miss: cheap but I nearly decided to sleep in my car.
Dirty carpets, used an abused furniture, simply a worn out hotel in my experience.
I found no unforgivable misses in the room so this place gets 2 stars. (It was bug free, clean sheets, not in a scary neighborhood, bathroom was cleaned)

I spent a weekend in Connecticut recently and I chose this hotel because it was affordable and had vacancies for the day of my visit. The hotel was easy to find and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Upon entering my room, I was AMAZED by how huge it was. We had a living room with a couch, TV, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot-​I wasn’t charged a fee for any of them. The bedroom had another TV and a decent bed. The hotel has free WiFi, but it was totally unusable when I was there. I could’t even connect with the LAN which was disappointing. Also, the bathroom was REALLY tiny and the water pressure in the bathroom could be improved upon. The view from out room was of a highway/​parking lot.
The short-​If you’re the type who spends vacations in the hotel room using the bathroom, gazing out windows, or using the bathroom-​check out the Hilton. But if you want a comfy place to stay after a long day of vacation fun, this one is definitely worth a look. I will absolutely check here first, if I’m ever in Connecticut again.

This would be 3.5 but Unilocal does not do that.
The room was good. The mattress felt good. Although we did not use it, it had a kitchenette that was nicely tricked out and clean.
Be careful driving to it. It is bizzare how the roads are laid out, not the GI’s fault. The «Gold Star Highway» ends, and one is I 95 South, heading over a big scary bridge, in our case twice since I did not bring a printed map or the GPS. One must take the left just before the establishment or one is going on a merry journey.
The on site restaurant I will review here. For dinner, it was just OK. At least it has a restaurant/​bar. At the time, there were many out of State lineman, cleaning up after Irene. The wife’s potatoes did not arrive hot enough to melt butter, which is a high sin.
However, staying here gets one a comped FULL breakfast, and it was pretty frickin good, in the same restaurant. I hit them hard, and got the everything omelette, and was quite happy with it. Her butter melted, so she was happy.
This is not the Bellagio, so this rating is based on where it is and what it is. I do not know why all the motels sort of near Foxwoods are all clumped together here, but this one is not too bad.

If you spend full price to stay here, which is in the $ 150-​$ 170 range, then you got swindled. But, if you get a deal on Hotwire, which is closer to $ 55 during the week, then it’s worth it. The rooms are big. The décor is nothing to speak of. The lobby and hallways smell of stale smoke (thank goodness our room didn’t). It’s just OK. I will say the staff was friendly and helpful.

Landed at this hotel via hotwire, it wasn’t by choice. I was initially disappointed when the hotel was revealed at purchase because I’m definitely more of a ‘big chain, sterilized-​feeling’ hotel sort of girl. That said, it was still a nice property. Hotel was clean and covered most necessary amenities — but the décor was definitely dated and the rooms felt a little ‘tired.’ Hotel staff was amongst the nicest I’ve ever encountered and always tried to be helpful.
Other Pros:
Rooms were HUGE — closer to 1 bedroom apartments than a hotel room, although our room did not have a kitchen (I understand some did)
Location is awesome — Mystic & casinos (Foxwoods, MGM @ Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun) are easy drives
Parking is free and plentiful — plus they noted our license plate number in the event of any problems or issues
Free Wifi
Local attraction discounts available at the hotel ($ 5 off aquarium specifically mentioned)
Other Cons:
Bed was uncomfortable — you could feel the springs. Pillows also felt old and lumpy
Walls were thing — however, if you have the A/​C unit running, there should be enough white noise to cancel out most issues.

I have stayed at the Groton Inn twice now and, for budget-​friendly lodging am quite impressed with the accommodations. There is nothing fancy at all about this place and no real amenities to speak of, so if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, look elsewhere. But, if you’re like us and looking for a place to call home base on a casino weekend without blowing your gambling budget on a room at one of the casino hotels, this is a great option. It also happens to be right in the Mystic/​Groton area where you can hit the aquarium, the seaport, and some nice restaurants
I’ve stayed in two styles of room here, both of which were larger than some apartments I’ve lived in! In the first type of room, you walk in and, as in most hotel rooms, the bathroom is immediately to your side, after which you are led into a decent-​sized living area with mini-​fridge, microwave, couch, chair, and tv for your viewing pleasure. Not an HD flat screen or anything (at least at the time of my visit), but as I said, we’re talking about affordable lodging here. Straight through the living room is the bedroom. We asked at the desk for a king bed and were easily accomodated. Again, nothing remarkable about the bedroom, but the bed was comfortable and what more can you ask for when staying on the cheap?
The second room style really took me by surprise. We were given a room in one of the outer buildings (the first room I described was in the same building as check-​in) and for whatever reason, were not expecting something as spacious as the room we had on our previous stay. To our delight, walking in we were greeted with literally an oversized studio apartment. I’m guessing at least 500 sq ft if not more. The living room/​bedroom were combined and the tv easily moveable to be able to view from the couch or bed. The kitchen was fully equipped with dishwasher, full size fridge, stove, microwave, and cabinets with all the essentials you’d need to make simple meals if you wanted. Not that we did that, but on an extended stay I could see utilizing this stuff. Off the kitchen was a small hallway with the bathroom and giant walk-​in closet. Not that you’d likely be traveling with so much luggage you’d need at that storage, but it’s nice to be able to put the suitcases away and not have them strewn about during your stay.
I stress that this is really not a luxury hotel, but it is perfectly nice for a weekend away. It’s about a 20 – 25 min drive to Mohegan or Foxwoods for an evening out and Mystic/​Groton has plenty to see to keep you occupied during the day. My advice to anyone looking into this place is to try to book your room through Priceline or some other travel discount site. I believe we used Priceline both times and each time got our room for somewhere around $ 50/​night.
