love this place ! they have original items that cant be found anywhere eles and they tend to use less preservatives and additives in all items they carry. really good prices on most all thier items a must go if you have never been

Yes this is exactly what GP needed, great location and lots of good deals. Though the stock is way smaller than the stores in CA they have a good selection of food and wine! I have found some wonderful wine picks for less than I pay in Napa, look around and be sure to ask somewhere there for suggestions as they are well versed in their products. They usually have a wine guy who tastes and will know what will go best with your steak in a specific price range. The staff is super friendly and they even have kiddie cars and lollipops for the kids.

What can you say? This place is pretty cool and unique. Whether you are looking for regular fruits and vegetables, organic ones or something completely different (like wine, perhaps), this place has a wide variety that can consume your time. It’s also in a cool part of Grosse Pointe that features a wide array of shops and eateries.
The vegetables sold here are very good and fresh, at least from my own experiences. The hummus is plentiful and so damn good, among the best I have had from anywhere! You can get organic chicken and meats, or go with the ‘regular’ stuff that still tastes quite good and is about the same price as you would find at a Kroger or Meijer. You can even buy chicken that is marinating in pesto — that’s pretty cool if you’re into that sort of thing.
The SO and I got a solid amount of veggies, hummus, bread, pita and it barely cost us $ 30 and probably will last two weeks the way we eat. Also, the parking garage validates your parking so it’s easy in, easy out. The Dude abides.

I just bought this place so much I am so happy we have one in my neighborhood what I like about this grocery store is that they carry such odd and wonderful things that you are not going to find anywhere else. Every season they come out with new items that I look forward to getting back every holiday. I do probably 50 percent of my Christmas shopping here just adorable little gifts they have made up along with the amazing cookies from Germany on the way to Poland. The quality of food is great but one thing I’m going to recommend is if you’re going to buy any fruit bread or anything fresh is that you use it quick cuz it does go bad fast.

I love LOVE this place! I’ve been shopping Trader Joes since they came to the area. I think the staff is great at all the Metro Detroit locations. They are helpful, have a lot of product knowledge, share recipes and make wonderful suggestions. Also where can you go and ask to sample something before you buy it?

Super clean! Love the amazing staff who are super friendly. Checking out is always a. Ice experience. I love that they have a lot of my favorite items I stock. Every once in a while they are out of my favorite smoked Gouda but not usually. They have great Parmesan and many other nice cheeses. Wine is good and great prices!

Again, like a lot of reviews I’m leaving these days, I’m mostly going to echo what everyone is saying on here. But I find I’m particularly aligned with what Lorna wrote. I’ve been coming to TJs for two years now every since moving to the Grosse Pointe area. And while I love it, there are a few things I feel like I have to comment on.
1) The produce section. Sometimes I need ONE organic lemon, potato, or onion. but at TJs I have to buy an ENTIRE BAG OF THEM! Why? It is so wasteful and they end up going bad. Also, I don’t understand why they don’t carry more organic produce in the first place? Surely the clientele at TJs would buy it. And even when they do, sometimes its hidden in a little corner than can be hard to find… For example, their bananas. For a year and a half I didn’t even realize they had organic bananas. they are in a completely different section and seriously hidden away.
2) GMO labeling. I have only recently gotten into this since going vegan. For some reason, the vegan thing has opened my eyes to a lot of things I was previously ignorant about. I know that all Trader Joes products are «supposed» to be NON-​GMO by way of their policy, but it would make me feel a lot better if they went through a third party verification process like the Non-​GMO Project. And while we are on that subject, I think it’s cute the whole Trader Giottos, Trader Giacomo, whatever whatever thing they have going on, but I like to research which farms/​companies the products I buy are coming from so I can decided whether or not I want to support them.
3) TJs is not a one-​stop-​shop. I still have to go elsewhere to find cleaning products, garbage bags, sandwich bags, and other misc odds and ends. Annoying.
4) OH MY GOD. Enough with the questions/​comments about what is in my shopping cart! Like Lorna, I understand that this is part of the TJs policy but please it is just too much! No one goes shopping to have a conversation. it’s a necessity. In and out people. In and out. I converse with my friends, I don’t want to have a conversation about what I did that day, what I’m planning on doing, what I’m cooking for dinner, what I used the tempeh for with the employees of TJ. I mean… NO. I have gotten to know which employees don’t subscribe to the 21 questions philosophy and oftentimes pretend I am still looking for something so I can get in their line!!! Terrible isn’t it? A simple «How are you doing today.» or «This is delicious» will suffice. Why do I need to tell you what I’m doing this weekend? No. Just no.
Anyway rant done. Unfortunately, and mainly because of the NON-​GMO and better produce options, I find myself making the drive to Midtown to shop at Whole Foods more and more…

I get that it’s totally weird reviewing a trader joes on Unilocal.But, this one is amaze. It’s so clean that it sparkles and they’re never out of anything I need. (I was in one on the west side of town last week that was out of kale.) So, go there.

This place is «most excellent» as Ted & Bill would say (Keanu Reeves reference). Great covered parking (take your ticket in and get validated), larger store compared to some TJ’s, attractively displayed and organized, in and out pretty quick. Working man/​woman prices, great goods, and you get to shop in Grosse Pointe, la-​te-​dah…

Lot’s of good stuff here and the staff is always super friendly and helpful. I think it would be hard to do 100% of your grocery shopping here but as a supplement store it’s awesome. Lot’s of pre-​made things that we love like the lamb vindaloo and some of the asian dishes. They have a great wine selection and good prices & also good beer options that you can mix & match.

The staff is super friendly, the store is always clean, and it’s Trader Joe’s, so you know what the food quality will be. Produce can be the make or break aspect of a grocery store, but this one pulls it off. It’s not a huge location, so the selection is smaller, and the rows get bottlenecked on Sunday or during dinner grocery rush. Overall, a great place to shop. If you’re on a budget go to Kroger’s across the street.

So glad this is in the Village of Grosse Pointe! Trader Joe’s has many unique food choices for all tastes. My favorites include pretzel croissants and mac n cheese bites. Has some great ideas for holiday and other gifts as well!

I Love this place! Friendliest employees know to any company anywhere! I totally recommend that you & your family discover Trader Joes!

Kinda limited selection but keeps getting better.

A little pricy but well worth it in my opinion. good selection of good organic foods that are hard to find. nice staff and alwasy cheerful people working there. a smile goes a long way.

I was in Trader Joe’s before joining Unilocal.Talk about different. Organic foods, specialized food. We went in looking for Belgium chocolate. They had Belgium in 4 types, Swiss in 4 types and some type of organic.
We were also looking for Pomagranite white tea. It appears that Trader Joe’s was the only place that anyone could think of who might have it

Only my second time shopping at Trader Joe’s. This location is like all the other locations I have stepped foot in. They don’t sell as many items as the bigger grocery stores but it will do. The people who work here are very friendly. They also have a parking lot. Don’t forget to get your parking validated by the cashier! The parking lot is a bit weird to get out of so beware!

Grosse Pointe like Detroit can be both a noun and an adjective. As in «that is SO Grosse Pointe»
Trader Joes is not Grosse Pointe. To be GP it has to be upscale, and accessable to less than 2% of the population. GP is like Mensa, hard to get in and prestigious as hel when you do arrive. Grosse Pointe invented the words snob, and upscale.
I found myself out near St John Hospital at the end of my tour and remembering that there was nothing n the friderator for dinner tomorrow I decided to swing by TJ;s for a few supplies. It wasn’t like I hadn’t been to TJ’s before. I had been in Ann Arbor, and I liked it. I even lobbied them for a location in Toledo, but alas I was shot down like one of the Red Baron’s victims.
The store is very clean and well kept, and things are easy to find which was a very pleasant experience. I couldnt find the chocolate bars I love so much, so I asked Nicole, a cashier where they were. instead of telling me to go down one aisle and turning, she took me right to the item and showed me that there were 3 different varieties. I liked that.
When I got ready to cash out, K. C was very sunny and charming and very nice. She even laughed at my lame attempt at humour. The nicest thing was that she offered to validate my parking, but i had found parking down on Kercheval and I told her that I probably had a ticket from the city. (I didnt).
I will return. and not just for things I cannot get at the mercado. I’m adding this to my list of cool things in the D, even if it is GP.

This location is way better than the Woodward location! I enjoy going here but cannot say it everything I thought it would be. Still trying to find the one thing that will keep me coming back… so far the chicken and beef burritos are the best thing I have had here… and the cereal is actually pretty good but not enough to keep me coming. I have not giving up yet… hopefully will find something dreams are made of so I can change my rating.
The produce section though is slightly above food bank quality… but there is a Kroger across street.

I love Trader Joe’s for 5 reasons.
1. They have certain products that you just can’t get in American grocery stores. E.g. Crème fraîche, lemon curd, etc.
2. They have quality products that you CAN get at almost every grocery store (Kroger’s), but the quality is head and shoulders above what you will find for just a slight amount more money (e.g., Black Bean Soup, Tomato Bisque, whole bean coffee, etc.)
3. Their customer service is just ridiculous. At first you can’t believe how helpful they are… the first time it happened, I thought «oh, that must have been the store manager» BUT NO… THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT! WOW!
4. Their «affordable» (sub $ 15) wine selection is awesome. Tons of varietals, hidden gems you just don’t see everyday and great prices compared to local wine spots.
5. And last, but definitely not least, their frozen food selection is just flat out the best. Kung Pao chicken, chicken tacos, veggie lasagna, green chile chicken burritos, you name it… they likely have it and it’s typically tremendous for a frozen dish.
Now the bad news (and why I gave them only 4 stars)…their produce section is not good. It’s really small, the quality is inconsistent at best; and quite frankly I couldn’t tell you the last time I even stopped in the section.
But all in all, you can’t go wrong with TJ’s…great store, great products, great service and a great experience.
