Awesome pizza. We always do carry out, but the pizza is consistently hot and good, and the people are nice.

Every now and then we do not want to go out but stay at home and order a pizza. Our go to place is Mama Rosas. Their pizza is one of the East Side staples. Their pizza is always right on and their antipasto salad a great compliment.

This is the 2nd visit to this establishment. I placed a carry out order yesterday just after they opened. We ordered a half-meatball sub, which I was told they were out of sub buns, so we called back with an order change. Instead we ordered 1– small pepperoni pizza and their baby back rib dinner along with two appetizers. When I went to pickup the order, the person waiting on me, gave the impression that she wanted to be anywhere else but waiting on customers. She went to get my order and the necessary change because she did not have it in her drawer. I get home to open– two luke warm appetizers, 1 standard pizza and the rib dinner. Ribs, we ok ! Not great /not bad ! The kicker was the loaf of bread wrapped in foil. 99 other places would have placed garlic bread in the order, mine consisted of one-half of a uncut sub bun. My question is — they told me they were out of sub buns, that is why they could not make my meatball sub!

Went there a couple weeks ago. I had the Meat Ravioli very good. Garlic bread that came with could of had a little more garlic. Hubby had a ham and cheese sub he said it was very good. Reason for the 4 stars waitress was nice n attentive but not overly friendly. The lady that cashes u out no personality. But the food was very good

I order this pizza all the time and have for years. Love it. Went in the other day for dinner and the waitress was so amazing, supper sweet, attentive, kind. I wish Inhad picked up her name. Detroit restaurants need to work on their service, they should learn from a place like Mama Rosa’s!

The pizza here was excellent! I had the BBQ chicken square pizza. I was quite impressed. The crust was tasty(sort of like Buddy’s but not as crunchy). The highlight was the BBQ sauce! The sauce was so good I would love to have a bottle of it. It was tangy and had the right amount of spice. The price was also great. 1 large pizza and 1 small, with the Mommas bread came to $ 28! That’s not bad for the Pointes! I was kind of disappointed in the service. The place isn’t that big and there were only 4 active tables. The waitress was slow going to them and slow on refills. It reminded me of a family owned Pizza Place I grew up going to. I will be back when I’m in the area.

This place is nothing like it used to be. The dining room was dirty, litter all over the floor. They have a problem with fruit flies The food has gone tremendously down hill. One lady is trying to do everything by herself. For not being busy we waited a long time for our cold food. I am not planning on returning.

Food: 4 stars Service: 0 stars I really wanted to be able to leave a higher review because the food wasn’t too bad. The service, however, was horrible. It took an hour for our food to be delivered. The delivery guy apologized and said they were slammed. No problem! Well, until my husband opened his meatball sub only to find a rather pathetic Italian sub. No meatballs in sight. He called the restaurant and an incredibly rude young lady answered the phone and it was all downhill from there. He explained the situation. They looked up our order. Apparently, they had chosen the wrong sub when taking our order. She said, «We could exchange the sub out or give you credit.» My husband asked to have the correct sub delivered. This was apparently a shocking request. She then proceeded to say it would be another 45 minutes! What?! She went on to scream at someone in the background, «What do you want me to do with this!?» Hospitality 101: If you screw up an order, you fix it immediately. Initially, my husband said«okay.» He called back a few minutes later to cancel that request because he was just disgusted with her attitude. When he called back to cancel, she hung up on him. The search for the ever elusive«good food-good service» Grosse Pointe restaurant continues.

Good, solid food for what it is but a little overpriced. Even with that I seem to have no problem eating here.

I can see why the carry out is the thing here. I can deal with the tiny dining room with the big tv that doesn’t come on, but I can not deal with the gnats and fly that seem to hover over my salad and pizza. The salad had broken bread sticks for croutons and they ran out of pepperoni so they subbed some type of spicy summer sausage type of meat. The service was ok but I found out the mildew smell was the dish rag she was using to constantly wash the tables that weren’t being used. However all people had called in was the sub sandwiches so I will return and up the stars if that’s what is the thing to get here. Also it was cheap so that was a plus.

Excellent pizza, pasta and salad. Pizza dough is yummy, crunchy crust and chewy. Delux pizza with veggies and meat is yummy.

I have never been so impressed with food! Ashley has taken me to this place a few times over the past year and I always ordered fish and chips and some fried mushrooms. Today, I let her order for me and I must tell you I was blown away. First the Pizza was to die for, then the baked mostaccioli came to the table and forget about it, hands down worth the drive right there! I got it with meatballs and man oh man are they fabulous!!! The sauce is sweet and really good, and I have a hard time eating red sauce, but this sauce is so dang good I never had an issue after dinner! I love this place! It is small and perfect. It makes you feel like your right in the heart of the city, but your not… worth every single dollar!!!

Mama Rosas is such a local gem! We order pizza from here regularly and it is always delivered quickly! They say that it could take 40 minutes but its never taken that long. I also ordered lasagna from here and it was very good. Large portion size! I only ate half for dinner and saved the rest for the next day.

Never had anything but carryout pizza, but it is extremely good. Their detroit style pie is top notch and easily on par with Jets, if not better. Topping portions are good and the service is always pretty quick and friendly.

Pizzaholic that I am, I decided to venture out and try a new place. I decided on Mama Rosa’s, impressed that they advertised using«only the freshest ingredients». I ordered a medium Big Mama with extra cheese. The pizza was definitely pricey($ 21.24, before taxes). The staff was nice. My order took 25 minutes(just as they said it would). Once I got home, I opened the box. I was not extremely disappointed, but I was less than impressed with what they consider to be extra cheese or the size. If this was extra, regular must have less than 2 tablespoons of cheese on it. Next the ground beef is the processed little balls and the mushrooms, not fresh but can — like in appearance and texture far from the«freshest ingredients» I was hoping for. I would not go out of my way, to make the 8 mile trip to have this pizza again, however if your close by and in a really in need of pizza it’s not bad.

We’ve been in the area for about two years and we tried Mama Rosa’s for the first time yesterday when my parents were visiting and asked if there were any non-chain pizza places around. After racking my brain I remembered that there was a little place on Mack. It wasn’t easy to find a menu online but luckily someone had posted one on Unilocal! We did a carry out order of the two-for pizza special and a large antipasto salad. Everything was great! Chewy pizza crust, tasty tomato sauce and the perfect amount of toppings. The salad had a lot of topping too, which is awesome. I hate when it’s mostly iceberg lettuce. I called in the order and picked it up all within 25 minutes. The staff was friendly. They did have a dining room for dine-in orders which i’m sure we will utilize in the future. I’m only sad we took so long to try it!

The thing that makes this place is Amy, the veteran waitress. Interior is blah, often has a wait. Sauce for pastas is on the sweet side — wish it had a little kick of heat with the sweet. My food was not so hot temperature wise, canned mushrooms used in dishes not fresh. But this woman could charm the socks off the most dour patron. Won the kids over with shaped pizza selections, me with her hometown smile. My cousins dinner wasn’t right — tasty but not what they ordered. She noticed right away and had the kitchen make a new one. Like everything else in Detroit, it’s the people that make it amazing.

Teetering between three and four stars here. but I’ll go with four because it’s somewhat of a local institution. Gave this place a try for the third time last night after a day of drinking(and trying on repeated occasions to get a slice at Supinos to no avail!). It was the first time we actually dined in, but most likely the last. Mama Rosas is definitely more of a carry out/delivery place than a dine in place. It’s, ummm pretty basic inside! The first two times we ate Mama Rosa’s, it was carryout and I remember everything being mindblowingly good(the pizza, the ribs, the pasta and meat sauce!). But this time around it was just average. I should be clear that we only had pizza last night(medium, extra cheese, and pepperoni). From the other Unilocal reviews I see that I’m not the only one who has noticed a change at Mama Rosas. Can’t exactly put my finger on it, I just know that it isn’t the same. There are very few good pizza options in the Pointes unless you’re one of those Hungry Howies/Jets/Little Ceasars/Buddys type of people. Which we’re not. So I really hope Mama Rosas takes the feedback on here into consideration and goes back to their old recipes/ways of doing things. A word on the service. we went there around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. The same lady was waiting tables and cashing out/serving the carryout orders. She seemed to handle it well but I really think it is too much to ask of one person. It doesn’t seem like this place needs to cut corners especially with the steady stream of customers so I really hope they get things together and soon. While it isn’t the best we’ve ever had. we will probably be back whenever we’re craving pizza as I think it’s probably one of the best if not the best option in the Pointes(and definitely in the Park!).
