Holiday Inn Portland-Gresham

What an incredible disappointment for a platinum member. No upgrade. Out of bottled water. Went to dinner. Freezing temperature that cannot be changed in dining room. Very loud music. Incredibly young staff that just doesn’t get it. We left and went to another restaurant. Room in good shape but no luggage racks at all. No fridge. Room was a reward room. Our window faced all the a/​c master units. Noisy. Room next door flushed and you thought water would be pouring down on your head. Asked for a quiet room when we checked in. A joke. Don’t waste your time. Stay somewhere else at any price.

Checked into our hotel around 7 PM September 24, 2014. The dust lady look like we were disturbing her from her phone chat after taking 30 minutes to check and two rooms asked the lady if she recommended the hotel restaurant in her answer was «I have not heard any complaints «shortly after her face was back into your phone.
We set ourselves to a bus in the hotel bar in 20 minutes later the bartender waitress arrived but did not help us. she helped to other customers which look like her friends that had been there for a while. after BS sing with them for about 10 minutes she came over to help us. after cracking the top of my Coors light for the bottle opener she sat down the beers and I had to mop up the mess after. Looking disgusted after asking her for two menus. Waited again for another 10 minutes to take our orders. we ordered two orders of the fish and chips and requested that we get another beer.20 minutes later we finally get the beer that we requested in the dinners. The lady did not sit any placesettings down no forks no napkins and I actually had to look for a bottle of ketchup. while looking around the lady finally asked what was I looking for and I told her a bottle of ketchup. One of her friends at the bar made a smart ass comment about finding it in the hotel toilet stall. The fish was gross and the fries were nasty also it had a taste like it was sitting there for a while. Shortly after a group of about seven people looked to eat into the restaurant. It was 825 when they arrived. The lady told them that they would not be able to eat in the restaurant because the cook stopped making food. After the be Willder people finally left the cook came up to the bar and started complaining to the waitress regarding why would people come in at that time in the night looking for dinner. And she wasn’t going to start up and make a mess of the stuff that she’s already cleaned up for the night. Your hotel staff is very unprofessional and I do not recommend that anyone stays there. I also recommend that holiday inn takes her name off the. building. It makes me wonder if I want to stay at a holiday inn ever again.
Matter of fact I recommend firing everyone and starting new.

Not bad for the money you pay.
Stayed here on a business trip and cannot complain. Staff is friendly and the room was pretty clean.
The restaurant on site was just okay. I would recommend stepping out of the hotel for better meal options.

This was my second time staying here. The first time was great! No issues, very impressed with the breakfast and the price we paid to stay there.
However, we stayed here about a month ago and it was a joke. We went to check in at about 10:00pm on Friday night. We walked in and there was a couple waiting to check in, a man waiting to get change for the machine, and a mom sitting down the hallway while her kids played in the pool. I waited in line for a few minutes and there was NO ONE at the desk. After about 5 minutes, the man went behind the desk and knocked on the closed door to see if someone was back there. The couple in front of us started calling the front desk to see if they would answer the phone from another location, but they didn’t.
The gentleman hesitated calling 911 because she was now gone for nearly 15 minutes. A lady went all through the kitchen area looking for someone, but had no luck. Finally she went around the ENTIRE building and found TWO coworkers outside the back door smoking cigarettes. I understand taking a break, but do you BOTH need to take your break at the same time and leave your establishment empty?! The women came up and was very apologetic, but a little too late. I checked in nicely and convinced my husband to not say anything and that I could tell she already felt bad.
The next morning, we went downstairs for breakfast. We arrived an HOUR after the breakfast had started, but barely anything was out. The hot trays were out, filled with water, but had nothing in them. It’s not like they ran out either because the empty trays weren’t even in there. The bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, sausage… all of it was empty. No pans, nothing. They only had out the basics. cereal, juice, yogurt. Finally after about 20 minutes, they brought out the «hot» meal items. which were surprisingly cold. The lady putting out the items did not seem to be in a rush either.
The following morning, we again went down about an hour after breakfast was served and our experience was MUCH different. It was a different woman. Everything was out and hot! She was running around like a chicken without a head fighting to keep the items stocked. If there were two cereal boxes missing, she made sure to fill them up. Then she came around to everyones tables and started clearing up the dishes and asking if everything was okay. A MUCH different experience and the only reason I will give this place TWO stars.
I don’t think we’ll visit here again, as we can find cheaper places in the area that serve a COLD breakfast, which is what we received anyway.

I stayed here two nights, the night I checked in I had to move rooms twice. The first room they gave me hadn’t yet been cleaned by house keeping (it was 8 at night when I checked in) and in the second room I found melted chocolate covered in ants next to the bed. Other than these mishaps the staff was friendly and kind, and the hot breakfast was good.

Not impressed for the price. The only thing 3 star about the place is that is has a restaurant, but even that is basic diner food. The room is decent in size, but the mattresses are uncomfortable, the pillows are small and few, and the entrance is cramped. This definitely felt more like a 2-​star experience and terrible in comparison to other hotels in the area for the same price. However, if I had expected a 2-​star hotel, this would have been just right, and I would be pleased with my stay. My advice: only stay here if you are getting a large discount and you are happy with 2-​star quality.

In town to attend a family event. We found that the Holiday Inn Gresham was the closest good Unilocal rated hotel. So happy we made the decision to go here. The check in experience was great, very fast and informative. We were told about the amenities, as well as the breakfast.
We arrived in our room to find a very inviting room, clean and very comfortable. My only complaint was I did find some dirt and stray hairs in the tub, prior to my shower, not good. After the nice long shower in to bed, firm bed with plenty of pillows, very comfortable.
Up at 9am and off to the bar and grill area that is used for the breakfast. All the food was acceptable.
Checkout was smooth with no problems, I would recommend to a friend.

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here and I’ve gotta say the place has really gone down hill.
To start with, the lobby, hallways, and elevator are all heated. It’s the middle of summer, why is it 80 in the lobby?
Our room keys never worked, and they couldn’t seem to give us one that would. We’d have to stand in the hall trying the key for 5 minutes until it finally worked.
The shower curtain was covered in mold, which is just disgusting. Everything else was clean but the shower was gross.
The breakfast that used to be different every morning and actually pretty decent food, is now watery scrambled eggs and some sad pieces of fruit every morning.
I don’t know how this place changed so much in only a couple months but it’s pretty run down.
Oh also, if you’re staying here, hide any pills you have. We left a pill bottle on the counter, it was gone when we came back after housekeeping cleaned.

First, the hotel property sets back from a busy street making the hotel feel private in an excluded location; in other words family friendly. Secondly, the wonderful amenities such as pool, gym, and business center create a level of prestige. Finally, the rooms and bathrooms were large, clean, and presentable. Although it lacked lighting in the entrance area of the room next to the sink.
I was disappointed with the restaurant not being opened during the day and the fact that the rooms had no refrigerators. When I checked in I wanted to have lunch at the hotel which was not possible until about 4pm when the restaurant opened. Also, during the free continental breakfast about 7am, my wife and I were annoyed with the fact that the server/​hostess was more worried about verifying my room number then offering a high chair for my baby. I had to retrieve the high chair myself which is fine, but don’t stare at me like I am a criminal trying to steal a free meal. I mean seriously taking my family out of the house to sneak into a hotel and get a free sub-​par breakfast is not my intention. The hotel should do away with that being in Gresham, it is not like its downtown Portland where homeless are trying to sneak in a quick meal.
Again, I was also surprised staying on the «Executive Member» level that the rooms had no refrigerators.
Overall the good out weighed the negative and would stay here again!

Deserves more then 3 stars. Room was clean. Husband doesnt like the comforter feel and I saw a hair in the shower but not really reason to give it low star rating. Price was good too. Bathroom was simply just toilet and shower so the sink is in the main area. Overall good place to stay. Staff at the continental breakfast were awesome. Very friendly!

This place is fine. It’s not fancy shmancy, but it’s a solid room with two beds, free wifi, free breakfast, a tv etc. What more do you need?
I liked how the sink was separate from the shower. Good to keep those separate when traveling with another person.
FYI-​I checked in ten minutes before 3am. He said we just made it, because anyone who shows up after 3 loses their reservation. Whew!

Had a perfectly fine stay here. Friendly staff, clean facilities, comfortable beds.
I used a coupon for a specific room type, but after checking in, the sudden arrival of another guest required a different room with two beds. They gave us a new room honoring the original coupon (which wasn’t suppose to apply to a two bed room), no questions asked. The type of service you appreciate. I would certainly stay here again.
Side discovery… roll-​away beds are now banned as a health hazard?

Checked in Christmas eve, found feces in toilet bowl. Fairly long wait for manager; second room had unknown debris in bowl. Third room had clean bathroom, but found a large amount of food crumbs on floor after manager left. Next morning discovered decaf coffee packet had been opened. Night manager was going to adjust bill, but we ended up paying full price.
