They reflected their tables and got rid of the tacky cloth lamp. coverings? I really don’t know what to call those things that were hitting my forehead every time you bent down to take a shot, but anyways. they’re gone! Victoria is awesome, always happy when she’s behind the bar!

Not the best tables in greensboro. Drink specials are on part with the rest of downtown. Service is good and the bartenders are nice. Parking is nonexsistent.

The bartender there was a complete douche bag. Takes forever to get a drink and when you actually get the bartenders attention, he will be a complete ass. I still tipped him $ 5 on a $ 13 tab and hopefully that made him somewhat happy, but I’m strongly considering going back just to tip $ 0.

So, this place has character and if you’ve been here you’d know that without my saying it. Ultimately, though it looks clever in a sort of dumpy way it brings in more often than not some pretty dumpy people. They have a jukebox which you can choose music from… unless your bartender doesn’t like it to which you will be out a dollar and a jam session when she decides to change it anyway. Yes, this happens, and happened to me. Either way they play everything too loud, and their bar is quite small but with the right guests around you it can garner some serious charm. Love the oatmeal porter they sell here, and for Jaegermeister fans well, they have that on tap. No food from this tiny billiard and bar combo, but I’m actually pretty content not eating grub from somewhere grubby.(That is unless it’s cheap and delicious and unhealthy…)

we were standing by the bar, and i’m standing there for 5 mins waving and trying to grab a bartender’s attention, finally i call him out loud, later Danny finally gives me a piece of his attention, «dude i’ve seen you waving and calling my name, why are you doing that, do i know you?» That was really offensive and i feel as a Bartender his job entails being a little friendly, if he doesn’t like it he should quit but his one job is to serve people asking for drinks, not nuclear physics, period. If i had more time on my hand i wouldn’t try to take what he said to me as a joke and smile it away, am i supposed to know my waitress’ for me to call her by her name in order to get me a menu? No, that’s the point of a name tag and that’s why they work at restaurants, they expect people to call them, people that may or may not know them.

I’m not a bar person, but I’ve been here a couple times with friends. It’s a very popular spot and always fun. Drinking, pool, sometimes dancing.

I dig this bar, good people come here; there’s ping pong, and plenty of billiard tables for everyone… plus fuse.

Longshanks was a once and awhile place for me for years until I moved downtown Greensboro. I became a regular and still visit every time I’m back in town. If you make friends with the regulars, this place is great. The drinks are cheap, you can play pool, and there is plenty of space to hang out. Since the crowd is pretty reliable, I always have a good time.

Atmosphere was nice but wasn‘t that clean. They didnt have a bridge either. Good spot just to laugh and play pool.

I’ll say this, Longshanks has character. From the knight in shining armour, to the hand painted fire always burning in the fireplace, to the awesome piece de resistance — the leg lamp from the«Christmas Story» movie — Longshanks exudes character! It also(currently) has a green plastic baby pool attached to the ceiling to catch leaks. .. . but I’m classifying as character since the methodology to catch the leaks is so gosh darn quirky! The pool tables(maybe 6 in all) are, like the place itself, a little past their prime. And don’t make fun, but I couldn’t find the bridge. Are bridges unacceptable these days? Anyway, there’s just times you want a bridge. When we arrived on a Friday night, we had just missed the 3−8pm Free Pool time. But, I will definitely take advantage of that in the future. While we were there, rates were a max of $ 10/hour for 3+ people(rates go down for 1 – 2 people). Oh, and they have a pretty decent foozeball table too. Longshanks has some nice TVs for catching sports games spread around the place. They also have a good size bar and seating beyond for those who don’t want to play pool. Oh, and the bar serves liquor, bonus. And there is a big jukebox although our bartender was picking tunes —(think Zep). It fit the ambiance just fine. Longshanks can be a bit tough to find. They don’t even have a sign outside, but they are around the corner from McCoul’s and on the 2nd floor, below the Burro. Again, character, because it keeps the place chill and never busy. I’ve probably been here a half dozen times and I’ll keep coming back when I want to remind myself that, despite my dreams of being a pool shark, I’m really not very good. But, I sure do love to play!
