Lefty’s is the real deal. Excellent, creative beers, a no-frills brewery, super nice staff, and free tastings. After trying their beers at beer fests and on draft a bunch of times, I decided to visit recently and had a great time. They hung out with us and poured sample after sample after sample for what seemed like hours. We had a great time and learned all about their beers(and of course, went home with armfuls of beer!). I definitely recommend their beer and a visit to the brewery. Check out Element, BBC, and People’s Pint while you’re at it!

Bean’s Brew in our new FAVORITE, an amazing imperial coffee stout. The Graham Cracker Porter, Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and English Style Porter-are really delicious-like finish a growler with a friend before dinner good. They use quality ingredients, most often locally supplied, and they still grind ALL the oats, barley, and malts by HAND! Literally the grinder is about the size of those found in Starbucks.++ Plus they donate all the spent grain to local farms to feed the cattle and other farm animals. Lefty definitely has a love for strong full flavor beer(most ABV7−10%) but you hop lovers will not find incredibly hoppy beer here except maybe in the summer as I hear they grew some of their own outside the building and made a batch-so keep your eye out. The beer is also great for cooking-everyone I talk to says to make an ice cream float-so I have some endeavors ahead.

A good solid brew. I have been recommending this brewer for several months and think that Lefty’s formula of age old brews work. The pale ale is winner and the stouts compete with the local market. Still in limited supply in stores and hope to start seeing taps turn up in Northampton soon.

Simple formula: a really nice guy and his bottled homebrew. You know America has a fantastic craft brewing revolution when an obscure rural town of 2,000 people gets its own microbrewery. So far, pale ale, porter, irish stout, and ipa, in 12 oz, 22oz, & growlers available at the shop. On tap at local establishments in Bernardston, Athol, Hinsdale NH, and other places that you probably never go. Well, now you have a reason to seek out these places. These beers are fantastic and all over 6% abv, brewed with whole cone hops, adding sedative effect and wonderful aroma. 5 stars down to 4, as the initial excitement has worn off some. GREAT Pale Ale, GOODIPA, and weirdly translucent dark beers — I don’t want to be able to see through my porters and stouts. The porter tastes REALLY good, but lacking the dark malty body I crave. A porter here has the body of a brown ale everywhere else. A stout from here has the body of a LIGHT porter everywhere else. Certainly worth seeking out if you’re in the area. They’ll accomplish greatness with appropriately malty dark beers! 12⁄2011 — Lefty’s has moved to Greenfield as of this past summer. No more sublimely cheap growlers from the source, as they’re distribution-only in the new digs. Find ‘em at a store, bar, or tasting event around western Mass!
