Established in 2010.

Backyard Bug Patrol was founded by the Mitchell family of Great Falls, VA after their entire family (All five including John, Tracey and their three young children) contracted Lyme Disease in their own backyard.

When Tracey and John couldn’t get another pest control company to spray their yard they decided to start the company themselves. Tracey, an environmental scientist by training, makes sure that the business is run per all EPA standards and has made sure that 100% organic tick and mosquito spray options are available.

I am very happy I found this service and 100% satisfied. I had been treating my yard for a couple of seasons for chiggers and Mosquitos, but the pests were winning. My kids (6 and 8 y.o.) were refusing to go outside and I needed something organic to protect the health of my dog. We have a tradition of celebrating my kids birthdays outside and in 2015 they were starting to resist the idea. I spoke to John and Patrick and they totally took care of the problem. After a couple of months, the problem was gone and my kids rediscovered the back yard. I am happy to report that we also just completed another successful birthday season! I would definitely recommend Backyard Bug Patrol.

Excellent service! It’s so refreshing to have a service oriented company keep in touch the way Backyard Bug Patrol does. They email when they will service your house or when the weather will dictate that a service needs to be delayed. It makes it really nice in that we aren’t having to constantly call in for information.
We are ecstatic that we have spent so much time outside on our deck this year! We never expected to get the great results of zero mosquitoes especially since our deck sits in about ½ acre of forest. It’s unbelievable! Our neighbors that we referred are equally as happy with the service.
In addition, we haven’t had to pull off one tick from our dog this year. Remarkable since the deer frequently jump our fence and hang out in our back yard.

This is my first season using Backyard Bug Patrol and I am thrilled with the results. We have tons of mosquitos in our yard and neighborhood, and I typically get bitten up all over as soon as I step out of my house. Since we started using this service, I have seen almost no mosquitos in my yard! It is wonderful. I know we have ticks as well, and am hoping those are being controlled and/​or eliminated too. The stink bugs seem to have disappeared too. This is the best use of money I can remember in a very long time. I wish I had done this years ago. I will continue using this service as long as I live here. The people I’ve spoken to at the Company are very nice and helpful and the technician was very friendly and polite. This is our 3rd year using BackYard Bug Patrol – the technicians have always been courteous and professional. I have a HUGE yard and they cover every inch. I have never had any issues with ticks with my kids or 2 dogs, not a mosquito in site – and I love that when everyone else has stinkbugs – we DO not. We cannot imagine a better service. Love that we can use the organic treatment with great results!!!

This is the beginning of the third year we have been with them. First time that we watch them spray from the window. Very little of the yard got sprayed this time. So I call the company the next day and was told that they did not have time to talk to me about how they spray my yard. The owner was to busy to talk to me. Instead of wanting to work with me they said that they would give me my money back. I am so pleased with the new company that we are using.

I renewed my service with BBP because of the great service and quality of their product. It worst great! We have a big back yard with a lot of trees and vegetation so i researched for a company with good reviews. Last year, we had no mosquitos, no ticks or bugs. Also, we like to bbq and be outside and it was really nice not having to worry about bugs! The company comes every 3 weeks and treats the whole area and once it dries out, you can let your dogs outside, especially because I have small dogs that need to go outside frequently. They did a great job! Also, I spoke to Gregg and he was great, with good customer care as he helped setting up this year season.

Last year I purchased a Living Social voucher for their organic spray service. Even though it was only one spray, I was able to sit outside unmolested by those little bloodsuckers for over three weeks. I love being outside after spending days in a cubicle farm. I have a terrible problem with the Asian Tiger Mosquitos which are day biters. Even though I diligently dump all standing water in everything and put mosquito dunks in my fountains, I still can’t get rid of them (I think they breed in the gutters).
This year I purchased their season plan. I weighed the pros which are no ticks on my cats and being able to sit outside without being a blood donor and the big con which is the spray kills all bugs, including bees, butterfly’s, etc. as another reviewer pointed out. I figured I would see how this whole season goes and recently received my first spray.
Their customer service is great, I talked to Patrick and he was very helpful.

So glad I found Backyard Bug! Everyone that I have dealt with is great!!! I contacted other companies when I was considering getting our yard sprayed and Backyard Bug won out as Patrick took the time and went over everything with me and has been great ever since!
Life was good last year knowing we could walk out the door and not be attacked by mosquitoes! Ready for another mosquito and tick free summer! Not to mention our 3 dogs are too, so nice not to see them swarmed by mosquitoes as well and be tick free.

Backyard Bug Patrol works — no mosquitos for at least 2 weeks with the organic treatment! Also they are very nice and responsive. Patrick, the manager, was super helpful.
One suggestion — please state PROMINENTLY on your website that the treatment (both organic and non-​organic) kills ALL insects indiscriminately. It does not only kill mosquitos and ticks, but also beneficial insects such as bees, ladybugs, butterflies etc.
Backyard Bug Patrol was very upfront about this when asked, but I don’t think I would have purchased the deal if I had known — even though it was wonderful to be able to hang out in the yard without being eaten by mosquitos.

I’ve used BBP for 2 years now, and the service is well worth it. My family and I can really take advantage of our yard now that we are mosquito-​free all year long. We used to get eaten alive but since BBP has been treating our yard, no issues whatsoever. The yard has heavy woods and a creek — so lots of areas for mosquitos to live, but we’ve been bug free for 2 years.

I am not a big reviewer… but truly thought this business was deserving! I got the one time Flower Power «event» Spray for mosquitoes and ticks… and have not seen ONE yet! Our backyard was basically unusable, mosquitoes and gnats made it unbearable… now we’ll be having a backyard party — I couldn’t be happier!
