My husband went into Spectrum Health Medical Group Endoscopy for a colonoscopy. He had a difficult time waking up and it took too long so he was discharged while he was still not steady. He kept tipping over in the car. I filled out their opinion form stating concerns and was called back. I was told that they reAlly watch the time a patient takes up in a bed but they will talk to staff about this. I would never recommend this place to anyone if they are more concerned about the number of patients going through the center and not the care of the patient.

I was operated on by urologist Dr. T Jonathan Bolthouse and he lied to me about what he was going to do. He also lied about the odds of side affects if he had to do more then what we discussed. He was always trying to get me to the operating room. He wanted to make money. I blame him for ruining my life. I was later told by a potential patient of his not to use him but it was to late. I hate him.

My wife and I are in awe of the entire Spectrum Health system. They are everywhere with excellent doctors and great service. We have visited, or been treated by about 12 locations around Grand Rapids, and the service is uniquely attentive. Examples, my mother-​in-​law had hip surgery at 102 and lived to be 109! That may be unusual, but all our family have had excellent care. My shoulder surgeon, Dr. Susan Day, is a rock star. Visitors from Chicago had an emergency spleen removal. They still talk about their experience with stars in their eyes. If you have any doubts, just moving to town, or whatever, you can have confidence in Spectrum. This may sound like an advertisement, but it’s real sentiment from an independent patient and his family.

I went here for an EGD — normally I wouldn’t display such personal info on a public site but I was so impressed with the friendliness of this place I feel the need to write about it here!
You are not able to drive after an EGD and they are kind enough to provide coffee, tea & water for your driver. They also have a display that assigns you a number so that your driver can see where you are in the process — prep, in procedure, recovery.
When I went back for my procedure after putting on the gown the prep nurse gave me a warm blanket to cover up with and some of those hospital socks w/​grips on the bottom. She asked if I wanted the blinds closed and was just very kind overall. Everyone I dealt with there so so nice! They even called the day after just to see how I was feeling and to see if I had any questions.
