Hands down better than Qdoba or Chipotle. The fresh tortillas were amazing. I had a steak burrito. Steak was tender, not chewy. Hubby had chicken tacos and said they were very good. Veggies fresh and a wide variety of great beverage choices. Will definitely return again if given the chance.

This was my first time at Café Rio. I ordered two burritos and two orders of chips and salsa online. It was ready when I arrived. I left, got home, and realized I had the salsa but no chips. Since I don’t live too far away I drove back and told them they forgot the chips. The young lady was very apologetic, got me the chips and also gave me a stamped card for a free meal without my asking. Mistakes can be made– I understand– because of her attitude and fixing it, we will definitely be back– otherwise probably not. She deserves some praise. The burritos are huge and giant servings of chips. Recommend for sure.

Great typical Café Rio food. But the staff is weird and terrible. Nothing like sitting down with your family and having 4 guys stare at you creepily while you eat.

Oredered two orders of two salmon tacos with black beans and rice, and chips & gauc online. Was told to be there at a specific time and i was on the dot, but the food was already cold, the salmon undercooked, no sides, no chips and gauc. So we request the missing food and are given one side of black beans and one side of rice. Shouldnt have eaten said tacos as today ive quite terrible food poisoning from undetcooked fish. It cost me 40 for a half assed meal for two, and food posioning. Will never come here again.

I’ve never been to Café Rio or even heard of it. It was a random lunch stop for us on the way out west that wasn’t fast food. Wow! The freshly made tortillas were what sold me. They were thick, warm, and delicious! The meat wasn’t as flavorful as I would have liked and the prices were a bit pricey for lunch but the portions were generous and there were plenty of food options. The restaurant was clean and all the workers were friendly.

Pork had no flavor… Medium sauce, no flavor… Rice was way undercooked… Will not be coming back

What can I say, this place is terrific! I’ve been to the original location in St George Utah and love the concept and the quality of the food. The fire grilled chicken is delicious and the tortillas are too good to be any good for you! I love getting a salad(sans tortilla) just to feel a little healthier.

I came in on tasty Tuesday for their promotion of $ 5 meals and was disappointed by the terrible customer service and I was not impressed by the food either. The girl that assembled our food was extremely rude and didn’t seem to care about her job at all. The man who checked us out who I assume was a manager based on how his shirt was different from everyone else’s was also extremely rude and just wanted us to pay and leave. He barely said a word to either of us. I could understand if it was busy but there were only 2 people behind us. I get home and find a hair in my salad and my boyfriends sweet pork quesadilla had a ton of fat in it. Just overall disappointed in this resturant and their service. I will not be coming back here.

Normally one of my favorite restaurants but this location had ignorant employees. Minor details but they did not toast the shell of the tortilla bowl for the salad which is my favorite part and the employee said that they do not toast them. I eat the same thing every time she was just didn’t want to admit her fuck up. I would not blame the whole staff just the younger tall white lady with the wrist tattos

Great food if they don’t run out. Most of the time good service. Can be a little slow during rushes. If you can go during slow times everything’s really good!

I went in an hour before close, so it was late, but they didn’t seemed prepared for customers. The employees are friendly, but there were a few things I don’t like overall. The flan and other desserts are just served in the tin as they come, so the flan has a hard piece of Carmel candy on the bottom instead of having warm Carmel over the top. They are often out of co2 for the whipped cream, so I never get it, and the tre laiche is just mushy instead moist and delicious. The things I like are: portions are good, meat tastes fresh, and prices are fair

Usually good food but large staff turnover makes the food not as good at times. Its really difficult to order take out as you usually have to wait after they answer and then they cant hear you. Sometimes you get what you order and sometimes not. There are a lot of flies and the tables are often not wiped down. A good concept and good recipes but not consistent. During the day staff is eating and playing hard rock if there’s not a supervisor there.

Love this place! Food is great, esp the hand made tortillas … Obviously well liked given the long line and crowded seating.

Love Café Rio. Tried a few things on the menu but I usually stick to the shredded chicken salad.

Fantastic food, great service, and a funky vibe. I’d choose this place over Qdoba, Moes, and Chipotle. All ingredients were fresh and delicious. Try the pork or the fire-grilled steak.

Just got dinner there last night. Two meals were as expected, but the taco order was nothing but meat in a tortilla; no pico, no lettuce. I wasn’t watching the worker make it as I was shepherding two other orders at the time. She didn’t ask about pico or lettuce and I didn’t find out about the oversight till I got home. Usually everything goes smoothly here. Typical Café Rio fare, which, if you’re not familiar with it, is sort of a cross between a Chipotle and a traditional Mexican restaurant. They do make their own tortillas, which is a nice touch. Most of the meat is a lot«saucier» than a place like Chipotle or Qdoba. The one complaint is that they seem to have a high turnover in staff, and often the newer hires will make the meals incorrectly. You have to keep your eye on them as they make it inconsistently.

Café Rio is the bread and circuses of themed lunch-time Mexican restaurants. I think the food quality in comparison with others of the breed such as Qdoba and Chipotle is comparable to slightly superior. They however do a much better job with the circus, displaying an employee pounding out tortillas and grilling them on a large spinning tortilla grill in front of the customer as they wait in line. This as well as having a chatty front line of employees and large tubs lined with tomatoes and limes on display surrounding the open kitchen design makes for an «experience.» I don’t like their«award winning» sweet pork barbacoa. The barbacoa is drowned in cane sugar flavor and I can’t really taste the meat or enjoy any of the other flavors. The spicy ranch cilantro sauce is tasty on an enchilada but should come standard as an option rather than upgrade. The menu is well-developed, and I eat here occasionally but it leaves no doubt this is a franchise.

Idk why this hasn’t ranked higher! I am here to boost the rating! In town for business, and based on the Unilocal reviews, I probably wouldn’t have visited Rio; however, a coworker went on & on about how much she liked it so I tried it. I went around 1:00 on a Tuesday– Taco Tuesday, that is! I got the barbacoa taco & a chicken taco. I also got beans & rice, The lady serving the beans & rice was so energetic– give her a raise! So, I got 2 tacos(with delicious homemade tortillas with a yummy crunch!), rice beans, sour cream and another dressing AND fountain drink for $ 6 and some change! They have tons of drink selections! I loved the atmosphere– great vibe and variety of music. I enjoyed hearing the Killers with my lunch! It was a beautiful day and other diners were enjoying their nom noms on the patio. Check out this place & don’t be afraid to sample some of the meat before ordering– I did. Caution– the barbacoa might be too runny for a quesadilla.
