Specialties

Grass Roots is a new movement in Ice cream. We are a brand new small family business and hundreds of people have flocked to our store to taste our unique gourmet creations. We are working to restore ice cream back into what it was meant to be… a naturally wholesome treat. Fresh Local Artisan ice cream made in small batches with quality ingredients and no artificial colors. We have 36 flavors that we are designing and changing constantly. Grass Roots uses real ingredients, like nuts, fresh bananas, strawberries, peaches, coconut, and pineapple. We believe real ice cream is delicious and doesn’t need chemical flavors and food coloring. Our topping choices are natural and organic and even our rainbow sprinkles are 100 percent certified organic We believe you will immediately taste the difference. Grass Roots is a true small town experience. Come and see!

History

Established in 2013.

Grass Roots was started on a whim by a local family. We wanted to teach our kids business skills and thought that an ice cream shop was a really fun project for our family. We are an «art family»; we love our children, folk art, old time craftsmanship, old buildings, fine homemade cooking, and the community. We are closed on Sunday so that we can raise our young kids with the same roots and traditions that we were raised with. Sunday is our family day and we love that.

Business Owner

We cook together, live together, laugh together, our family is first and then our business Eliza loves all kinds of art and recently took up wheel thrown pottery. She has a degree in Social work and always loved community social work. She grew up on a small family farm in CT. Her father milked one cow for his 8 kids; they had fresh milk every day. And Eliza’s mother made treats just for her family from the milk, (butter, Caramel, cheesecake, ice cream.)

Lee is a RN with a local hospital and holds a degree in fine arts. Lee raised cows as a teen as part of the Future Farmers agricultural program and always wanted his own agribusiness. Their young artistic daughter Emma designed the logo and all the t-shirts for the store.
