Quality Inn & Suites Golden – Denver West – Federal Center

We travel a lot, its what we do for a hobby and sometimes work. We stay in a lot of different hotels, motels, and so on. We have seen the good, the bad, and the very ugly when it comes to accommodations.
We found Quality Inn to be clean and quiet while being priced well for what you got. Is it a Marriott no, its a mid range motel that offers a clean place to spend the night. We stayed three nights and were happy with all three.
If we need a place to stay in Golden in the future we will stay here its that nice, and you should too!

This was a last minute attempt at a place to stay. The hotel I went to before was closed and no one at the front desk even though I paid for one night there. I was desperate and saw this was close by so I called and set up a room and got here by 1 AM and checked in.
They gave me a room with a king sized bed and a fridge and microwave. The room itself was large and unlike previous reviews, I did not have any interruptions. Plus the staff was pleasant so no unpleasant exchanges.
While my room was huge and spacious, it had a weird smell. A combination of a new car smell mixed with old vomit, weird right? Plus I couldn’t get a good temperature since it was very humid and when I would turn the AC on low, it got too chilly. I think it was a reason I caught a cold during my last night which carried over for a week.
There are better hotels out there at probably the same rate I paid for this one. The silver lining for here is that there’s always a room available; hopefully whatever room you get smells better than room 302.

Our one night stay was very enjoyable. The staff was very cordial and apologetic about the remodel construction. The room was clean and there were not smells from the construction.

We were in town for a wedding and were looking for an affordable hotel close to the venue for 3 nights. The site that we booked our flight on suggested this hotel, and we went with it. I clearly should have checked Unilocal first!
Before ever arriving at the hotel, I called a few times to talk about how I’d be getting to the hotel from the airport. Apparently they have a shuttle, but it wasn’t going to be available when I needed it. Even if it was, it would be $ 60. Per person. $ 120 to get to and from the hotel?! I should have taken that as a sign.
When we arrived, there were a bunch of sketchy people standing outside of the hotel drinking, smoking, and leering at us. We checked in and the guy at the front desk was nice enough. We went to go to our room, through the lobby and the hallway at the end of the lobby. There was a large group of women congregating in the middle of the hallway, completely blocking access to all other guests. That was pretty typical the whole time we were there.
We walk into the room, which is nice enough. It was clean and, though it could use a little updating, everything worked great. The TV had some annoying quirks, like the numbers weren’t displayed on the screen, it look a long time to change channels, and you couldn’t put in a number and have it go straight there — you’d have to flip through.
The biggest issues, though, involved the other patrons in the hotel and the hotel’s treatment of them. The first night we’re there, we’re exhausted from a long night of traveling and trying to go to bed at 10:30 (12:30 EST). There is an enormous party in the rooms across from us. There were people screaming, slamming doors, laughing, and yelling in and around the hallway and adjacent rooms. With earplugs in, a pillow over my head, and a towel under the door, I still heard everything loud and clear. The hallway is right next to the lobby, so the people at the front desk definitely heard it and chose to ignore it. When I finally called the front desk, the guy said he couldn’t do anything unless I saw them out in the hallway and called, which is a little ridiculous. I called back when they were in the hallway and the guy went over and told them they needed to bring it into a room — not to quiet down, but to bring it into a room. They responded with, «Oh, Jesse, no one complained! You’re up in the front smokin’ that doobie, aren’t ya?» Clearly they knew each other, which might explain why it was tolerated. I also smelled smoke pretty strongly in my hotel room, making me think people were smoking in the hallway.
The second night, the yelling and screaming happened around midnight. I think there was someone else working, because he was immediately at the rooms, pounding at the doors and saying, «SECURITY! There has been a noise complaint!» It’s almost comical, because if the screaming didn’t wake me up, the pounding definitely would have. I was relieved that someone was actually addressing it this time, though. This time i heard some woman yelling about masturbation, so not sure what was going on there.
The last night, we were coming back from a wedding, so we slept pretty soundly and didn’t hear much, thankfully.
This hotel is cheap (about $ 80 a night) but it’s really not worth it if you expect to sleep at all. It’s also missing a lot of the basic things I expect from hotels; a fitness room, access to food of some sort (the breakfast was just okay), a complimentary shuttle. There was a pool, but it was closed for part of the time we were there and it was really tiny, so we never even visited. The hotel itself is pretty difficult to get to as well, which made it a huge pain for drivers; you have to u-​turn based on most directions to get to it. I sincerely wish that we had stayed somewhere else; the amount of money I saved did not make up for the lack of sleep or rest I received. Avoid if you can!

don’t stay at this hotel. it was dirty, the little pool created a chlorine cloud that permeated the first floor. our room wasn’t cleaned for two days. the shower bar was sagging, the bath counter top was cracked and about ready to collapse. we had to hunt down towels one day and TP the next. the exterior doors were propped open with rocks (i assume the staff did this to get in and out) … is that safe??? overall not a good experience.

The reason we stay at Choice hotels is that they’re supposed to be smoke free. Smoke free this place is not. There are signs saying no smoking yet the riff raff sitting on the benches right outside the open front doors are puffing away stinking up the lobby. After expressing our displeasure with the smokers they closed the doors but we still had to run the gauntlet of smoke. Even with the ashtrays next to the door, there are cigarette buts all over the ground and lawn. When the sprinklers come on it makes things smell worse.
In order to wash the stench of cigarettes out of our clothes, we had to use the one washer and dryer at the Baymont (same owners, same smokers on the front porch) across the parking lot. Someone actually took our clothes out of the dryer while they were drying and used our buck and a half to dry their clothes and then put our clothes back and left them wet.
Thanks to the legalization of pot in Colorado, we had to smell the neighbors smoking it in their room for a week.
This place is managed poorly. Someone else actually checked us out of our room after the first night when we were there for six nights. I wonder if they could have claimed they were us and gotten a key to our room and ransacked the place.
This place gets the one star because the lady that tends the breakfast room does an excellent job and is very courteous. Without her this place would get no stars.
This placed wasn’t the bargain we’d hoped for and certainly wasn’t what we want to expose our seven year old daughter to. Although she does know what a bunch of losers smokers are and how uncool a habit it really is.
