I love this place. The food is always prepared fast and never lets me down. I recommend the chicken chimichanga, and the chips and salsa.

I eat here at least once a week for lunch and the food is always great. The salsa is amazing as well. If there was room for improvement I would say make your own tortilla chips or try a new brand bit they’re free so I’m not complaining.

This is cheap, filling, and yummy Mexican food. I went with a big group and everyone left happy. The guac was a little deceptive — it was in a big bowl but it was perched on top of a lot of lettuce so there wasn’t as much as it seemed. But otherwise food was good and service was quick. I would recommend.

Couldn’t be more average if they tried. Carnitas were a good tasty choice but a bit shy on the portion. The original margaritas was flavorful and strong. Complimentary salsa and chips were a fresh and homemade with a strong roasted and tomato and pepper flavor. The bean burrito plate lacked quality ingredients– too basic and uninspired. This place wasn’t great or terrible. It was just average. There are better choices

D’Corazon is the kind of place you hit up when you’re craving some greasy, sloppy Mexican platters. No frills, nothing fancy, just grease and cheese and saucy dishes that take the edge off of their limit-of-four house margs. Beyond this location having a parking lot, which beats the heck out of dealing with trying to find parking downtown, everything is pretty much the same at the DT location from what I can tell. They’ve got the margs(and happy hour), a list of tequilas and«specialty» margaritas, and the same food menu. All of your basics: burritos, tostadas, combo plates, fajitas, rellenos, and mole. They also have a few egg items served all day. That said, the last time I was in I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with vegetarian green chile. It’s hard to fault a place that offers veggie green chile. While theirs isn’t the best I’ve ever had, it’s still decent and combined with the runny yolks of some over easy eggs and the warm flour torts served on the side… I’ll take it! They also have vegetarian beans(whole pintos), which is much appreciated. Since I gave up [deep] fried foods and sweets for Lent this year, I was not able to partake in the chips(causing me to immediately regret my selection of Mexican food that evening when our server brought the basket). As a trade off(heh), I ordered the cheese quesadilla as an appetizer(what can I say? I was hungry). It’s actually two cheese quesadillas served only with lettuce and tomato, which is kind of lame(was hoping for sour cream included [guac would have been tops]). Again nothing fancy, but a spot hitter if that’s what you’re looking for. Service was a little spotty that evening, but nothing too bad. Water glasses were refilled regularly, and we were in and out in a reasonable amount of time. And that one egg coupled with the one leftover flour tort and the green chile I still had on the plate made for quite the breakfast treat the next morning. So if you’re in the mood for some cheese globs swimming in sauce with a little kick, an a’ight house marg, and a free parking lot — get to D’Corazon off 6th in Lakewood.

This is a pretty good Mexican spot. I’ve only been here on weekdays, but there’s never been a wait when I’ve been there for either lunch or dinner. My favorite menu item here is the chicken enchiladas. They’re a bit more spicy than some other Mexican restaurants in the area, which I like. The salsa also has a kick. I have to say, I do prefer a slightly more mild salsa, but if you like the spice, this salsa is for you. The prices are reasonable. The décor is very«Mexico» themed. The servers are friendly. If you don’t have time to dine in, you can order when you arrive. Whenever I do this, my meal is ready in less than 10 minutes. You can also call ahead for pick up. I haven’t gone for happy hour, but this honestly seems like a pretty good after work happy hour location. They have good drink specials and I’m hoping to check it out at some point.

I came in with high hopes — a solid 4 star joint and over 50 reviews. When I was sat I was immediately served some chips and salsa. So far so good right? And indeed the chips were really tasty! Nice and crispy, not stale, and some really flavorful, spicy, salsa. This got me excited! Generally a place with solid chips has some legit tacos. Not this time. The shells were too thick and cracked extensively with each bite. The shredded beef was under spiced and disappointing. To top it off a small dollop of sour cream cost me almost $ 2. Needless to say, with so many other good choices I won’t be making it back here anytime soon. That said, if invited to a happy hour I could totally see myself with a basket oh chips and a margarita.

This is a good place, came here with family to use a Groupon. The place was oddly empty for a Saturday lunch, but the staff was great and allowed us to hang out and chat afterwards. Good food, and quiet enough to talk but not so quiet you feel awkward.

i have eating restrictions due to a disease I have, and asked my waiter very specifically twice whether the tacos were gluten free. He told me they were and so I ordered them. Half way into my first taco I realized that they didn’t taste right, and it took me inquiring two more times before he told me they put beer on the meat(making it non-gluten free). I realize that this probably doesn’t matter much to the majority of diners out there, but for those of you who would like to know what you are consuming, please know that this restaurant clearly doesn’t put value in training their servers on what is in their food.

my boyfriend and I were in the area for a speech contest and afterwards, we decided to pop in for lunch. I had a hankering for tamales. In my experience, you can tell how great the meal will be in a Mexican restaurant by how flavorful the salsa for the salsa and chips are. Their salsa was so good and they did NOT skimp on the hot peppers. The corn tortillas were nice and sweet, perfectly salted. The combination made my mouth do cartwheels! We finally ordered and our meals came very quickly. It was steaming hot and the chile around my tamales was just incredible. You have to taste it to understand. The refried beans were thick without being too think. The flavor was wonderful as well. The tamales were the important part. They were soft, the meat was firm without being dry, yet tender without falling apart at the touch of my fork. The corn had that wonderful smokey buttery flavor I CRAVE in tamales. The waitress was busy, but she was still courteous and attentive. The only bad thing I can remember is that a little portion of my tamale had a lot of salt. Apart from that, the whole experience was awesome and it’s a shame this restaurant allll the way in lakewood :-(

Once a month our office gathers here for«Happy Hour» at the bosses expense… its pretty sweet. The margs will get you hammered quick, the service is perfect and authentic(I think) and the nachos are yummy… its a 2 marg limit unless you want to tell the work group some untold secrets so choose wisely when the third round comes round. Oh yah, the guacamole comes in a dish on a bed of lettuce… annoying as shit! BUT, they take American Express so we give them a pass…

We’ve driven by this place many times, but never thought to stop in. It’s in a difficult place for automobile traffic, right at the junction of Union and 6th Avenue, but a little planning helps ease that. We came south on Simms from 20th Avenue, and turned right into the place, but you have to watch for the entrance or you’ll miss it, and then getting in the parking lot becomes more complicated. Inside, the place looked very typical«gringo» Mexican, and not particularly clean, but, when they brought the chips and salsa, I was impressed. The salsa is savory, and tasty. The chips are decent, too. They had this vegetarian green chili on the menu, so I thought I would try that just to see if theirs was as good as my wife’s. It was pretty good, but my wife puts textured vegetable protein in hers to make it more like pork green chili. What I didn’t like about it was that I ordered the«Green Chili Plate, «with rice and beans, and I was expecting a «cup,» or «bowl» of chili for the price, but they just ladled it on the plate as if they were smothering something that wasn’t there. They did, however, have«whole» beans, cooked without lard or bacon. I liked that. My wife had a vegetarian combo that was pretty decent, and, of course, the $ 4.00 margaritas made everything better. I do not know what their house tequila is, but the tequila in our margaritas tasted more like a reposado than the blanco they usually use. They were different, and good, but no the best I’ve had. All in all, I would not hesitate to go here again, I’m glad I tried it, but there was really nothing exceptional about the place to make me go out of my way to come back, except maybe their good drink deals at happy hour.

I have to say that being so close to a hotel and next to a chain restaurant had me doubting this place. I took the advice anyway and I went. I’m glad I listened. I got the carnitas that so many Unilocalers recommended and it was very good. Juicy, tasty, perfect. It also came with guacamole, which was good as well. I had their home made margarita, as I don’t like mixes, and I couldn’t have gotten a better tasting margarita. Spot on! All in all, the food and drink were good although the atmosphere lacks a bit.

Yumm! Likes: Very clean, great ambiance, prompt service, great food(chips & salsa Delish, taco shells amazing) LOVES: They refill the Delish salsa at your table out of a carafe(genius)…kind of like refilling your drink but its your salsa — made my day! Dislike: Honestly, the only thing preventing me from giving this place 5 starts(because it really was great) was that when I ordered the Lunch taco plate(2 tacos, rice & beans) they wouldn’t let me order 1 chicken and 1 beef taco. The server said it had to be the same. Why? Is it that hard to give me 1 beef and 1 chicken? I never understand this! Being in the service industry I believe getting my customer what they want(within reason of course) is so important! So, halfway through my delicious chicken taco… I really wished I had a beef one next. It’s ok, my Husband ate the 2nd one. Overall: A great little restaurant and I left satisfied. It’s the little things for me — so I did get hung up on not being able to order what I wanted BUT what I was allowed to order I enjoyed tremendously! Mammm!

My husband and I recently visited Denver and stayed at a nearby hotel. After reading the other Unilocal reviewers we thought it was worth a try. Plus if you are a guest at the hotel(FairField Inn) you get a free margarita(adults) or a percentage off your check. Don’t quote me but I think it was 10%. They were super nice as we walked in the door at 8:40 and they close at 9pm. The service was quick, the salsa and chips were very good. My husband ordered the mole and enjoyed it. I ordered the chile relleno and burrito. More than enough food for me and I was happy to reheat it in the hotel room microwave later. Worth eating if you are in the area :)

Salsa from a jar, chips from a bag, and a chimichanga that was limp, soggy and small. No beans and rice served with the entrée. Fairly high prices, considering. The best thing about this place is the service. Our waiter was attentive and our water glasses were never empty. But good service does not a good meal make — and the meals here? Not good.

Here’s the deal, the food is the absolute best Mexican in Denver at both locations. I live closer to this one and we go here frequently. Every time my dad comes to visit he asks to go as well. We love this place and will go regularly. That’s the good news. Here’s the bad news: the service needs a lot of work. They are moderately friendly, not at all talkative, and they push you to move quickly. They seem more interested in turning over tables fast than giving customers a dining experience. Ultra-quick service is great for lunch, but a Friday night dinner should be a leisurely event. You don’t get much time to enjoy drinks or appetizers before your food arrives. Insider tip: do NOT allow them to sit you at the first booth behind the host stand. There is an alarm on the door that beeps every time the door is opened and it is right above the booth… super obnoxious. I have to circle back around again and say that the food makes everything else worth it. The prices are incredibly reasonable and I will eat here again and again. Chile rellenos, anyone?

2012 Review #139: I’d wanted to try the downtown version of this restaurant for some time, so I was happy when a location opened in the Lakewood area. We waited quite a while before visiting, but a friend said he wanted Mexican so we thought it would be a good excuse to go. Although we went on a relatively busy time on a Friday, the staff and restaurant were operating incredibly smoothly. We were seated and given water and chips at almost the exact same time. A waitress came by almost too soon for a drink order. We weren’t ready, so she came back and waited a little too long. We then ordered everything for the evening. Our drinks came straight away; the margarita was pretty good, not the best, but strong and cheap. The food came very quickly. Everyone was satisfied, and I, who got the carnitas, was extremely happy. The carnitas are fork-tender, marinated, flavorful, and don’t need anything except a fork. I had one large piece that was almost all fat but besides that it was great. The rice that came with it was ok, as was the guacamole and the not-spicy green chile, but the beans were a little odd. We has sopapillas for dessert and they were doughy, in a good way, almost seemed to be whole-wheat, and tasty. Even after sitting on our table for a few minutes they never got soggy and didn’t really even need honey. I haven’t been to the downtown location, so I can’t compare, but it’s awesome to have a Mexican place in the ‘burbs that’s not just ok.
