Beautiful and picturesque mountain town within an hour of Denver. The main attraction is Coor’s brewery. Walking around town, getting a bite to eat, as well as touring Coor’s is a great way to spend a half day. I also drove back to Denver and got tickets to the Colorado Rockies baseball game!

This is my 5th year living here and I must say, this is a lovely small town. As a community, the city of Golden is very involved with it’s local college — Mines and throws many events like Ullr Beer Festival, Chile Cook Offs, and Buffalo Bill Days. Many people love the library, Clear Creek, and the shopping located off Washington. You can’t forget Coors Lab! It’s a great stop for tourists and locals alike! Golden is a great day stop of a good home base if you’d like to go skiing in the area.

A great little city in the suburbs of Denver that actually feels like a place you want to live in! Golden is in a neighboring county: Jefferson(Jeffco) and folks here are much nicer than Denver county! Visitor’s center and the businesses are all friendly and helpful. Golden ticket discounts were helpful in the many places we shopped and dined at. Loved their beautiful creek(Clear Creek) the ran under the town. Now off to Coors Brewery !

In October, I went to my friend’s wedding in Golden. I was completely enamored with the city! I think I’m a little biased, because I used to go to Durango to get away when i was working on a reservation in New Mexico, and I adored it. Golden has a very similar feel. It’s a walkable town surrounded by gorgeous mountains and beautiful blue skies. Downtown Golden has a bunch of cute and fun little restaurants, bars, and shops. The views themselves are breathtaking. Driving to the wedding venue, I’m pretty sure I literally gasped — it is so gorgeous. The snow-capped mountains look like something taken out of a painting and juxtaposed over a blue sky. Unfortunately, our weekend was really packed with wedding activities, so we didn’t get to explore as much as we’d like. My boyfriend was just as impressed, so I know we’ll be back for a longer visit soon!

I love Golden, but until Golden’s freaky leash laws change one star is all that Golden gets. So for all of you good folks traveling through with extremely well behaved and obedient herding dogs. You better put a leash on them for show or else you can expect a $ 100 dollar fine.

So far, one of the better day excursions I’ve done. The BF and I were looking for something to do and I suggested a day trip to Golden since I had never been and off we went. I never knew there was such a beautiful town in Golden. A river walk that has qualities of the San Antonio River Walk in TX, albeit not as long(everything is bigger in TX). Fun shops along the main street with a Starbucks, a local bookstore, the best sandwich shop in the world(D’Deli), touristy type shops, and so many cute little restaurants to try. On a beautiful day I can see a picnic in the park enjoying the sun and all the other families out for a stroll. I won’t wait too long before I return, this is definitely worth a visit if not a weekend.

I went to the City of Golden for a little«stay-cation» this week-end. What a charming little town with big fun. There are several restaurants within walking distance of downtown Golden, unique little shops, plenty of free activities, like the Coors Brewery tour, biking, hiking, and window shopping. You’ll also find fun bars, a cool bookstore, an old fashioned ice cream parlor, an all you can eat pizza joint, a few cozy bed and breakfast’s, some exquisite hotels, beautiful Colorado sunsets, a home-town farmers market, and even kayaking. I have to say, for a quarter tank of gas I had a pretty great«Stay-cation.» I live right down in Denver.
