Car-X Auto Service

Worked at this location for 2 weeks, was told 10.50 an hour, job didn’t work out with my schedule, a week after quitting got a paycheck for 7.25 an hour for the 35+ hours i put in. This place didn’t hesitate to scam me (ex-​employee) out of money (pay). THEY CERTAINLY WON’T HESITATE TO SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY AS A CUSTOMER!!! Hint* I would not recommend any of my friends or family to this place.

I made an appointment here for an oil change /​headlight bulb replacement, and also to check out some thumping I heard in my car when I go over bumps. The service was very prompt and friendly, and Jason (front desk/​manager) let me know that there wasn’t any notable issue with my car causing the thumping. However apparently the place I got my winter tires at last year put my front tires on backwards (wow!), so Car-​X fixed that for me too.
Overall it was a great experience and they seem like a very honest business with great staff. If and when I need more car repairs and service, I will definitely come back.

As a 30 year old female that has had duct tape on my bumper for over two years due to running into a snow bank, I was reluctant to go anywhere when my brakes started squeaking at me viciously. I got some tips from my car friends about verbage to use not to get completely hosed and taken advantage of financially.
I called around 11:30am and spoke with manager Kirk who asked me how he could help me and I explained the problem. (Said I thought I may need new break pads since I had been hearing some squeaking) He suggested I come in for a free, no obligation looksie to see what’s going on.
I drove in around 2:15 and was greeted right away by Kirk who was finishing up his lunch. I was immediately impressed by the waiting area-​lots of chairs a comfortable distance apart, a couple vending machines, a keurig coffee maker, and another waiting area nook with a tv.
He took the keys and away went my car. It was fun to be able to see it go up on the thingie. About twenty minutes later, he pulled me into the shop area and showed me my brakes. It was pretty cool. He explained the basics of how the brakes work and what makes them squeal sometimes when applied.
He said my front breaks have about two months of wear left and don’t need to be fixed today. He did bring me to the back of the car and showed me the rear breaks and they were rusty as heck! He said they could just remove the apparatus, flush it out, lube it up, and I could be on my way for about $ 100 in 45 minutes. Imagine how thrilled I was!!! I figure if I can get out of a mechanic for less than $ 300 it’s a win situation.
I am so happy with my experience here. He could have VERY easily told me I needed new breaks and I would have had no idea because I’m so clueless like that.

Car repairs suck — they are never fun and you are never happy about it. They seem to understand that at this particular Car-​X and they are more than willing to work with you on a final price for the work needed.
Most recently I needed an oil change, alignment, rear brakes, rotors and shocks. This was not an expected repair job, going into something expecting $ 150 for the oil change and alignment and coming out with $ 650 in repairs is not cool. They allowed me to call other places for quotes on the work and I was amazed when all three of the places I called all came in at a much higher price than I was quoted, in fact, Chrysler wanted $ 650 just to do the brakes and rotors! So, much to my chagrin, I went ahead with the needed repairs (I knew the brakes were going, I could heard the squeaking, and the tech showed me my leaking shocks, so I know they weren’t trying to swindle me).
I was there on my lunch break (thought I was just getting an oil change, remember) and they were kind enough to give me a ride back to work so I didn’t have to waste a couple hours in their shop, effectively staring out the window. They even offered to pick me up when I was done with work, but I opted to line up a ride with a co-​worker.
I left the shop that day with a lighter feeling (goodbye 650 bucks) but a much safer feeling, knowing my car was repaired well, I could feel it in the way it drove. They even rotated and balanced my tires for me for free.
This was not the first time I have had work done there so did already trust them at least a little, but my most recent experience made me a believer, I will always go back here for any future work on my car. Great service, great price, done quickly with great quality. Five stars.
Oh, and to try ease the pain of the bill, manager Kirk gave me a free car wash over at the Mermaid, so I now have a clean and mechanically sound car. Yippee! But it didn’t really ease the pain of the bill… so if anyone wants to give me 650 bucks I will happily take it off their hands LOL

Well… again. my car decided to scream, sputter, and smoke. and this time. I felt even more helpless than the last. This time, I was on the freeway. :\ There is a certain sense of panic when you see smoke billowing out from your car. :\ I was able to pull over to safety… and call a tow truck.
I decided to have my car towed BACK to Car-​X. since, I was assuming, it was most likely the same issue.
It was.
This time, I dealt with Thomas (another manager. last time. it was «the old guy». can’t remember his name. Harold maybe?) and he was wonderful. He was nice. friendly. and he cut me a break.
Even though my part (a belt) wasn’t covered under warranty any longer. they still replaced the belt for free. I just had to pay for labor. Fair enough… so in addition to the belt replacement. I had them throw in an oil change too. because they were back in my good graces. and I was almost due for an oil change anyhow…

Very friendly staff and very fair prices every time I’ve been here (3 times in the past six months or so). They’ve worked with me on pricing and have performed quick, quality work each time. I didn’t expect to keep coming back here after I used the Groupon, but I’ve been back for every new issue since. Though, as great as they are, I’m hoping I don’t see them again for a while!

After getting several other quotes for exhaust work, this is the first place with a reasonable price. It actually ended up being $ 150 then originally quoted, because they couldn’t locate a specific pipe from a supplier and ended up modifying existing with a little welding and… VOILA!
The staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend and will go back myself.
