A very good meal at a reasonable price. Basic home cooked food and a super friendly staff.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere, and I’m an AZ native. Been eating here since I was a kid — family friends used to live in one of the historic cottages nearby. Now that I’m grown and live out of state, I still make the trek up U.S. 60 each time I visit AZ to get my Mexican fix. Basically I’m a Chalo’s junkie, and not ashamed of it!

This place sucks, the people who are running it now have screwed up the recipes by putting cinnamon in the red sauce and salsa.

Well this place is rated the best in globe. I am glad it is here as Globe, AZ is lets say way out in the sticks. So to get even an average meal is a good thing. Nothing exciting here, Good solid Mexican food. The chicken fajitas were sizzling and was really grilled chicken and grilled onions and peppers. Spice? I couldn’t find any. The Green Burrito was a nice simple meat and mild chile burrito, cooked properly, however a bit bland for me. Oh well. I am happy they are here and in Globe this may be as good as it gets. So… Come on in for lunch or dinner.

Yum. Green chili on cheese crisp. Can’t say enough about the tamale and tostado. Had a little bit of everything. Wait staff. Very pleasant. We’ll be back

2 of 4 of us got horribly sick, ruining our vacation. This was the only place we had eaten together, and I feel horrible for suggesting we eat here. Atmosphere is pretty divey. Our server was sweet but keep getting things wrong. The rest of the staff was boisterous and seemed oblivious that their yelling was disruptive. Skip it. Your intestines will thank you.

We were cruising through town one Saturday afternoon after visiting the Besh-Ba-Gowah museum and we were pretty hungry so I looked on Unilocal and for reasons I don’t remember I decided we should go here. Maybe because it was at the top of the list when I Unilocaled Mexican in the area. So with the help of modern technology we navigated our way through this old town and found our spot. It was rather late in the afternoon(three-ish) but the place wasn’t empty — there were far less empty tables than there were occupied tables let’s just say. We sat at a table not far from the cashier and were immediately greeted with chips and salsa. They gave us both mild and hot sauce. The hot sauce had a pretty good bite to it so I was pretty happy. I probably filled up too much on those chips since they kept bringing more so I just ordered 2 chile rellenos as my main meal. Those were delicious and really hit the spot. Also went down well with some Mexican beer. No doubt I’d hit it up again if I ever find myself in this area. Lot’s of parking behind the restaurant.

Excellent! We went here yesterday because I’ve read several reviews now touting this place having the best chimichanga in Arizona, it was pretty close for us — we still liked Joe and Aggies in Holbrook just a hair better, but wow — very home cooked Mexican! The rice had a chicken broth base, and I do think this is the best rice I’ve had anywhere. Beans were spot on, and the chimi was well spiced with perfect chunks of pork in it, and the salsa — always the good mark of a good Mexican restaurant was excellent! Home made chips too! The staff was friendly, and told us which shops were the best to check out downtown — great experience! It was worth the 2 hour drive!

As you can see from my check ins I have been here a few more times since my review. I have not had a problem once on my trips back. Even when they have been busy I have had hot food and great service. I also love they they have specials like $ 2.00 bean burros with a soda every now and then. I will keep coming back as long as things stay this way.

The food is pretty good. I wouldn’t have thought to go here but my friend who lives in globe took me here. The service is good and the food comes out quick. You really get your money’s worth for your food. The chips and salsa were good. I got the number 3 and couldn’t eat it all. It was like three meals in one. I would come again if I am in town.

Decided to take a ride east today from Gilbert. Headed to Globe cuz my GF had never been in that area. I knew there were a couple of good Mexican restaurants in that area. We stopped at 1.15 for lunch at Chalo’s. It was hopping busy. It was the best Mexican food either of us have had. The service was great… those waitress were busy yet very attentive. Worth the ride.

Very good place to eat in Globe. There were lots of choices(more than what was mentioned on the website). I stopped in last week with a group of friends. The service was really good. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the Carne Asada Burro which comes with rice and beans. The rice and beans were very good. The Carne Asada Burro was probably the best I have had in Arizona. The meat was tender and cooked medium rare(YUMMMMMY). The flavor of the meat and the guacamole were great.

Every time I have to come to Globe for work this is a must lunch stop! I highly recommend the Red Chile or the Green Chile both are super tasty and not too spicy either. I can honestly say I have yet to order something from this menu that i have not liked. Anything from their basic tacos to burritos and chimmis are super delicious. The only thing that I had a complaint about before was they didn’t give you a bowl with your salsa for some reason but they changed that. enjoy a great, cheap, tasty meal and go here!

This place was PACKED! And there’s a good reason. First off, the chips and salsa… The chips were home made, good and flakey. The salsa was good, but mild. I can’t eat fire and I was able to down these. My hubby got cheese enchiladas. Said they were very tastey but not the best. They lacked a certain flavor that would put them over the top. Now for my dinner… I got the stuffed sopapilla. And it was dynamite! I tolerate Mex food, I’m not a huge fan of it. But I would be if I could get this at every Mex resaurant! The food was hot and the portions big. Like I said, the place was PACKED, so service was a bit slow… but we expected it when we walked in and saw how busy they were. We will definitely be back!

I have to go to Globe once a month for work. I will need to find somewhere else to eat! This really wasn’t good. The beans for starters were really runny. The salsa was really good but you can’t seem to get them to bring you more and they give you a tiny bit. I really like the flour chips but that didn’t make up for the rest of the food. The chimi was soggy and the green chili was eh. I was not impressed and was really hoping for a lot better food and service. They have some really good reviews so maybe it was just a bad day. They were not that busy so I don’t think it was that. May give it one more try.

Oh yea I one fan. Customer service was excellent, food was excellent. Nice and well maintained outside, look for the maroon color painted establishment. They have a front seating area has open windows to view the street area and a back area with little windows but there have room to sit a lot of people. Lots of parking. From what we had they made some solid Mexican food. It seemed like all of their plates come out so hot that they use another plate on the bottom. They warned use about it being hot and of course I had to test that, slightly burned my arm trying to reach for some salsa across the table. I ordered the Carne Asada Burro. It came with some rice, beans, guacamole, and sour cream. The guacamole and sour cream came in a small plate, I placed it on top of my burro for the pic. I enjoyed it. The Carne Asada Burro was smaller than I’m accustomed to but I wasn’t really trying to feel my belly. I was able to clear my plate and not feel like I had to waddle out. I liked that the tortilla firm and crisp, it kept the filling from pouring out which I always like. They’ll serve some complimentary chips and salsa. There was 2 different salsa one kind of mild and there other hot. We also ordered some good jalapeño cheese nachos, an app, It was simple a pile of tortilla chips, jalapeño slices, and what seemed like a mixture of melted cheeses. The rest of their menu is your usual Mexican food. How cool are they, they sell their own restaurant shirts.
