Specialties
You’ll find all the popular fresh and smoked meats including bratwurst and knockwurst, of course. But you’ll also find many unusual, very interesting cuts of meat and sausages behind the extraordinarily clean glass. Schreiner’s meat counter offers delicacies most likely not found anywhere else except in a German market and delicatessen. Across from the meat counter are shelves and shelves of condiments that range from mustards to sauerkraut to German-style breads. Schreiner’s also features an amazing eat-in deli. On weekdays the sandwich counter is usually running at full tilt, with hungry regulars waiting patiently in line. But even during the peak of lunch hour, you’re always greeted with a smile and never feel rushed.
History
Established in 1952.
Family owned by Walt Schreiner and his son Wally Schreiner, Schreiner’s Fine Sausages has been located in Glendale since 1952. Wally is now the third generation to run the family shop, which still smokes all of its own meat.
Schreiner’s is like an old friend, always happy to see you. The staff is friendly and dressed in dirndls, the traditional dresses worn in Austria and southern Germany, matching the old world atmosphere you’ll experience when you first walk in the door.
