My wife and I decided at the last minute to go to LA for Valentine’s Day and were looking for a room online a few days prior. We were bummed that the Hilton nearby was booked as we had stayed there in the past and loved it. The only room that we could find was at this place so we took a chance and booked it. For under $ 80 which included free wi-​fi, we thought that it was a pretty good deal. It was easy to find and in a great location (across from Americana at Brand) so how could we go wrong?
The check in went smoothly. I walked in the office and got the room keys and discovered that my wife and I had a room on the first floor near the rental office. We walked in the room and laughed because the two lights on the wall on each side of our bed were pointing in different directions. The room was nothing spectacular and was comparable to a room at «Motel 6». The cool thing is that the TV had HDMI ports. Even though two of the three HDMI ports on the TV didn’t work, I was able to hook my computer up to it and watch Netflix movies with my wife at night.
There was one BIG negative during our stay. My wife and I turned the AC on the next morning and were overcome with cigarette smoke. I opened the curtain and discovered that the ashtray was directly outside of our room and that there was a pretty sizable opening between the AC unit and the wall where the cigarette smoke could travel in. After giving a female smoker on the outside a mean look, she put her cigarette out and went away.
If you are just looking for a place to «crash» for the night, this is the place for you. But I would highly recommend getting a room away from the ashtray!

My family and I staying here for a vacation. The location for this area is very good. Few steps from Americana mall and glendale mall (cross street)15 mins drive to go to universal studio and 8 mins drive to a family member. But the room is not so good… my husband found bugs inside the room and my daughter got some insect bites. The shower is so hard to use and the heater broke down in the middle of the night. We have to wait until the next morning to change it so we slept in a very cold winter. For 80 /​per night + tax it’s very expensive… I think they can get a better deal if they renovate the place.

Awful. The room we stayed in had mold on the carpet and walls from a leaky air conditioner that hardly worked. The room we stayed in also had bedbugs and roaches. The shower drain was plugged up and slow to drain. After my partner and I realized the room had bedbugs we attempted to get a refund from the front office, which was conveniently closed for the rest of the night. It was so bad that my partner and I ended up looking for a new hotel completely, without a refund.

Apologize, do not know how my Unilocal search went from Rodeway Inn in Castaic, Ca to Glendale. Please disregard, the previous review was meant for the Inn located in Castaic by Magic Mountain.

Bed Bugs! Checked in there on 10/​11, wasn’t even there the whole night when we found bed bugs. Captured a few of the bugs found and brought them to the desk. The man & womans reply to me giving them a cup of bugs was: «We don’t have bed bugs. We’ve been renting that room all week without issue…» Clearly not the case. Will not stay here or recommend, and the way the hotel directly & Choice Hotels handle my costumer complaint was entirely inadequate. Complete disappointment on all counts.

You get what you pay for. there’s a Hilton down the road if you want brand new. I went for cheap. it was what you’d expect. kinda old and not fancy.
GREAT location. you can literally walk across the street and be in the Brand shops. there’s a coffee bean walking distance (in the Brand) that opens at 6am. also close to a mall. and walking distance the the most gian Target store I have ever seen. Get groceries, clothes, pharmacy item. basically ANYTHING you might have forgotten to bring… it’s there.
staff was very nice and helpful.
if I had to do it again… since we drove. I’d bring my own pillows and comforter. just cause no hotel in this price range is going to be luxurious in that department.

air conditioner didn’t work all to well… I mean it «worked» but I found in the morning, opening the window and door helped

No refunds!!! The pictures look good.

We checked in and the place smelled old, and moldy.
Walls we’re cracked on top and bottom.
Comforter looked like it had spots of food.
A sheet was stained.
I felt nasty to have to stay the night so we drove 3 hours home.
For $ 100.84 we left the place with (No Refund)

This hotel was 100% horrible! I wish I couldn’t give it any stars, it was that bad! We got in the rooms and they stunk! The maids were horrible, we had four people in two of the rooms we had and for each we asked for four towels and we still only got two face and hand towels! Then on top of that there were hairs in the pillows and sheets! And then on top of all of that we had roaches coming out of our toilet paper, or the behind the toilet wall we have no idea where they were coming from! But for one night we killed about five roaches! disgusting!!! DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get a room here!

Stayed here twice because of the location advantage of being close to universal. Prices are cheap but the hotel can get full so advance booking is needed. Very old hotel and it can be seen with the bed spreads.

I’ve been at this hotel for four days, and I have to say that I am surprised with the amount of negative reviews I’ve read here.
The hotel location is great if you don’t have a car. It’s literally across the street from The Americana, and 1 block from the Glendale Galleria. If you go east on Colorado St., you’ll find a donuts shop and liquor store less than a block away. (Both have beverages and snacks, and there’s a vending machine at the hotel).
The owners/​operators are extremely friendly. I made a reservation online, paid upfront and the entire check-​in process was less than two minutes. Like I said, I’ve been here for four days now, and each day I’ve extended my stay for another day. Because the hotel was near capacity, I’ve been in a different room each day. The really good thing is the great service I’ve been given. In the morning I go to pay for another day, and they call me and let me move to my new room well before the check-​in time. In fact, I’ve even stayed in some rooms beyond the check-​out time. I have two bags so moving around without a room could be a hassle. But this hotel has accommodated me in such a great way.
Now, about the rooms. I was surprised at how big they were. The single bed rooms have a desk with chairs. The TV is a Samsung 32″ flat screen with 150 or so channels. The WiFi is one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel. There is also a mini fridge in the room. Okay, it’s not all positive. The rooms are quite old. The mirror looks likes its seen decades of guests. But hey, for the price offered (under $ 80 after tax) it’s worth it.
I did take one star down, and that is because housekeeping walked in on me in my underwear one morning. They knocked, I said just a minute and she entered. She apologized, and it’s not a big deal, but I don’t think this is how it should work.
Overall, I would reccomend this hotel to anyone. One more little thing: if you’re a light sleeper then I would suggest moving on somewhere else, because some construction is going on next door and they start drilling very early. Up to you, and I bet that in the rooms that are parallel to the street you can barely here it.

This place is disgusting. Around $ 70 a night, with bad cable, everything is old and dirty. Not worth the money and it has coach roaches. Super nasty. Dont go there!

Knowing that you get what you pay for, I wasn’t expecting much from this motel. But some things you still would expect from any hotel/​motel. First off I had made reservations for 2 nights. Upon arrival, I was told I needed to pay both nights up front. Seems odd right? So I requested to see the room I was getting first. An older, perhaps Indian lady, said «we can’t show you the room unless you pay upfront». I was headed out the door at that point. But she stopped me and agreed much to her dismay. A gentleman then showed me to the room. It seemed adequate for me to stay only the first night since I didn’t want the hassle of trying to find a last minute room. So I ponied up for one night only. Carpets turned my white socks black in a matter of minutes. Mold along the corners of the wall adjacent to the sink and water stains in several places. Cleanliness is something that I would expect no matter what the star ratings are on a motel.
As for «getting what you paid for». The bed was quite hard. Several points along the bed with springs stabbing you. Sheets were pretty rough. No complimentary shampoo. (Luckily I’m bald so bar soap would suffice for a night).
There were a couple pluses however. Nice flat screen tv with a gazillion channels was a pleasant surprise (most of the better hotels in the area only carry very limited channels). And well aside from that, location is great.
So there you have it. Location and tv alone swayed me into giving this motel 2 stars.

Incredibly friendly staff (the place is owned and operated by a middle aged couple).
We stayed there for 2 nights including New Year’s Eve. Upon checkin, they handed us a complementary tin of Danish Butter Cookies. There was also free donuts on New Year’s morning. We didn’t see any the next day, so maybe that’s just a special occasion thing.
During our stay, I had TV issues a couple times. The staff was very helpful and promptly came up to check out the problem.
Overall, the quality of the rooms was what you would expect of a similar motel, but the friendliness of the staff is what pushed this place up to 4 stars for me.
Additional comments:
— the smoking room we stayed in (as non smokers) was surprisingly non smokey, though the wife owner had told us it wouldn’t be too bad before we booked
— the area around the motel is nicer than expected. One block north of the motel is a very nice outdoor mall area — very beautiful to walk around.

I was traveling to LA and I was looking for a cheap hotel that wasn’t too far of a drive from Hollywood. The online reviews of cheap hotels in North Hollywood and Inglewood scared me because of the drug and prostitute issues so I went with the Rodeway Inn Regalodge in Glendale. With my AAA discount, the hotel was only $ 63 a night and parking was free! The hotel staff was very nice. You have to pay for your total bill immediately upon checking with with no refunds, which was odd. I didn’t have any issues with additional charges when I checked out.
The place wasn’t filthy, but it wasn’t the cleanest, and the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything going on in the parking lot and in the adjacent hotel rooms. Luckily, noise wasn’t an issue. I stayed for a few days during the week and there was only one night when I could hear the people walking around in the hotel room above me.
The hotel is next to the Glendale Galleria, which is a nice outdoor mall that had a good selection of stores (Nordstrom, Armani, American Eagle, etc.) with great sales while I was there. It is also next to a terrific little diner called Foxy’s. As a Regalodge guest, you can eat at Roxy’s for 10% off.
The drive from Regalodge to Hollywood was about 20 minutes, which was worth it to me to stay in a hotel that was $ 100 a night cheaper than the hotels in the Hollywood area. You definitely want to travel to LA during off-​peak driving times (not during rush hour). If you’re visiting the west side of LA, I would recommend finding another hotel. On Wednesday at 6:00 pm, I drove from Palms to the hotel. It was a 20-​mile drive that was supposed to last 30 minutes. WITH TRAFFIC, THE 20-​MILE DRIVE TOOK 2 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES!!! I wanted to vomit.
If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay that is relatively close to Hollywood, the Rodeway Inn Regalodge fits the bill.

This place was horrible. Its not worth the money.
