The service department here is terrible here. Way overpriced. For example, I had my wheels aligned for 45.00 at network alignment & brakes on Bethany home. Pep boys wanted over 100.00. Do yourself a favor and call around for pricing. I can guarantee their prices for all services can be beat.

Had a really good experience here. People went out of their way to help me, teach me a few extra things about my car, and gave me good service overall. I was happy with the way I was treated. Oil change was done quickly.

I booked before seeing the bad reviews and was ready to dash if my car didn’t get worked on anytime soon. Turned out ok, in 30 min oil changed and I was out of there.

Absolutely terrible. I VERY strongly advise against coming here for any reason.
Short version: Came for an oil change, waited 2.5 hours, was then told they didn’t have the right tool to open the oil cap. Found out they stripped the cap, making it near impossible for anyone else to change the oil thereafter.
Long version: I came here yesterday for an oil change on my 2004 VW Touareg. There were a couple cars ahead of me, and I was told it would be about an hour before they could get to it.
That’s not unusual, so I decided to leave it with them and walk to get something to eat. After walking back, I waited outside until about 2 and a half hours had elapsed since I left it there. Finally, someone came outside and told me that they didn’t have the proper tool to open the cap to release the oil.
The employee gave me a few excuses as to why they didn’t have the tool. I asked what I should do about this since I’ve been waiting for so long with nothing to show for it. (Usually this is where you’re offered some kind of compensation in the form of a coupon or the like.) The guy just shrugged. I then explicitly asked for a discount on my next visit just as a matter of principle (I didn’t plan on coming back). He told me maybe they can give me a coupon next time, but he doesn’t have any right now.
I then got in my car and began writing a review outside the store. A manager walked up to me after a bit and gave me a signed business card with a 30% «coupon» written on it.
I took my car somewhere else the next day to have the oil changed. Here, they lifted my car and showed me the oil cap. I watched the entire process. The place where the tool is to be inserted was completely stripped (grinded to a round hole so tools won’t work in it). I can’t say with absolute certainty that Pep Boys stripped it, but the circumstances lead me to believe that during those 2.5 hours, they attempted remove the oil cap with the wrong tool, thereby stripping it and leaving me with a problem I didn’t previously have.
The other guys couldn’t get the cap off because of the stripped cap, so I’m going to have to take it into the VW dealership now and see what they can do. My guess is that whatever they do will cost me more than an oil change.

I walk up to the cashier’s line to pay for my items. A male clerk and a female clerks were talking about an invoice but when they stopped, I was ignored. So I walked up to the cashier instead of waiting for them to call me and I was still ignored. Waited there 3 minutes staring at them. Really? I don’t have time for games or poor customer service. I put the item on the counter and walked away.

I had a battery under warranty (otherwise I would have went to Costco) and got a new battery that died after 1.5 years. They did a free install and everything was good. I drove into work today and went to lock my power locks and car was dead.
Turned out the negative cable wasn’t tightened enough so wasn’t getting the power it needed. Luckily I had a wrench in my car so I was able to tighten it and everything appears good now.
I wouldn’t trust any of these chain car shops to any repair except under extreme emergency, especially when they have proven to be incapable of tightening a bolt.
Plus there customer service isn’t that great. Which is common for most car places, they should go work a week at In N Out.

Spraying the truck with plasti dip. Got three cans from the «black» spot. All had black lids. Went home amd sprayed my truck and my grill was dark purple. Turns out one of the cans was «black cherry». Went back to tell them the problem and the ‘manager’ kept interrupting and telling me I was wrong and just pocked up from the wrong spot but when I went back to the isle every single can on th shelves with a vlack lid was black cherry. Tried to tell the guy and he said I was wrong. I will never give my business to this location again.

Was shopping around for a battery as the one in my car completely died. I called this store (among many others) and they had a great warranty– 3 years replacement, following 5 years prorated. After doing research I purchased a battery online at
, with a 25% discount over $ 100 spent. I called again to ask if they had a discount for an oil change with a battery purchase (for a different car) and they said yes it would be $ 15. I told them I would pick up my battery and like an oil change and they said it would be no problem to get my in. Upon arriving to pick up my battery I was told it would be up to 3 hours for an oil change. We left and called a few days later and tried to make an appointment for an oil change and they kept telling me to just come in but I insisted on an appointment. We came in at 9 am when they opened and they had no record of our appointment. They took us right away but the oil change took an hour and half! and they left the maintenance light on! They also did not want to honor the $ 15 discount. Super annoying and frustrating working with this store, bad customer service. Would not recommend.

$ 35. to plug a tire. Fletcher’s only charges $ 10. Eff That!

Second time I go to those guys. Great service, friendly and always looking for a solution to your problem. This time my battery had died. I didn’t even have a receipt but they still trade it without any cost.
Both Nick and the manager John were super friendly and helped me out right away.

This place saved meeee! I made it into their shop last week in this 100 degree Phoenix weather and they guys there were so polite, helpful, and understanding when they saw me driving in on the rim of my wheel.
I knew I was in need of a couple of new tires, so I had planned on driving over to their shop on my afternoon off to get them replaced since I had seen a few great Unilocal reviews for this place and located near my job. I am so glad I found this place because I was on my way there and about a half mile before I drove into Pep Boys my tire blew. Luckily I made it there and they were very generous and reasonably priced and also got me in and out of there in less than an hour. I ended up getting two tires replaced and getting a free oil change!!! They are also running a special right now to get 3 tires installed and you will recieve a 4^th tire for FREE! I will be back for another service very soon and send all of my friends there for their next car service :) I highly recommend checking this place out!!!

Last week I was desperate need of new windshield wipers when it was raining. I live close by and stopped in to get a pair. I had no idea which kind I need or how to put them on. The guy helped me figured out what I needed and got them on for me! The price was reasonable and the service was awesome.

Very good customer service. I came in with a brake light out and asked for some help finding out which bulb I would need to replace it, and not only did the employee show me which one I would need, he came out and showed me how to replace it because I didn’t know how to do it myself. This means a lot to me because I would have gone to the dealership otherwise and spent a fortune! Got this repair done for less than 10 dollars. Thanks pep boys! :)

Best pep boys I’ve been to! The customer service is stellar and they will take care of you when your in need. I walked in needing my brakes fixed 20 mins before they closed and not only did they accommodate me but they finished in less than an hour. Come here for all of your car service/​repair needs!

I hate getting tires for one thing so it’s never going to be a fun experience but I needed them really bad and called discount tires and they said they could do it and when I got there they said no we are about to close. So I’m thankful that pap boys was open till 8 instead of 6 like the rest of them! The only thing they didnt do is rotate them for me.

The low-​down: WORST SERVICE AND LOWEST EMPLOYEE COMPETENCE EVER!
MONDAY:
I called to get my window regulator fixed because it broke on my way home from work and the driver-​side window was all the way down and wouldn’t roll up at all. Pepboys was my last resort because they were the latest place still open. I called them before I brought my car. I was quoted «around $ 260 out-​the-​door» by the guy I spoke to. With the $ 40 diagnostic fee they charge, along with the $ 260 quote price, it should have been $ 300 for everything. Not a bad price to pay so I brought the car and the next day, it was ready. (Borrowed roommate’s car in the meantime.)
TUESDAY:
When I came in to pick up my car, instead of charging me the $ 300 they quoted, they said it was $ 350-​something! I was outraged! WTF! I complained and they said they could give me a 10% military discount (I’m not in the military, though) and that’s the best they could do. I had to settle for that because I needed my car for work; it was about $ 319 after everything. ANGRY.
Not the end of the story yet, folks. I check the interior of my car to inspect their work. There was a screw cap missing that made the interior look less appealing; the part wasn’t functional, just aesthetic. I walk back in and tell them they’re missing a part on my car. They proceed to tell me that the guy who had works on my car had broken it off. They broke it off and DON’T EVEN ATTEMPT TO FIX IT OR TELL ME. SHADY. They offer to order it for me from the dealership and I agree. They said it should be there by Thursday and that they will call me.
THURSDAY
They called me and said they didn’t get the part and that it will be here Friday. Fine, no big deal.
FRIDAY
I had to call them because they never called me! The part had not arrived. It will be here Monday they said. Uhm, ok?
MONDAY
I had to call them again. WTF kind of service is this?! The part arrived but it was the wrong one. Will reorder another one from the dealership that should be here Tuesday.
TUESDAY
I called them yet again. I was ENRAGED TO THE MAX that I had to do the follow-​up call. The part has not arrived. Another order will be put in again to make sure it comes tomorrow; I was guaranteed it would be here with the overnight shipping.
WEDNESDAY (TODAY)
I CALL THEM AGAIN FOR THE FOURTH DAMN TIME. They got the wrong part yet again! Are they incompetent or something?! I show up to the store. I RAGE at them in the store for the idiocy and lies (can you blame me?).The guy calls the dealership while I’m there and says they have the part on their shelf. I offer to go to the dealership myself to pick it up to end this nonsensical bullcrap but they said that’s not possible; it has to be shipped by the dealer. Really? REALLY? #&$@ you! I tell them I’ll be back tomorrow and they better have it then or else I’m gonna make them refund me some money for the troubles they’ve caused.
NOW WE PLAY THE WAITING GAME… more than a week later.

«Fake» (or rather condescending) service from the «Service Manager»…and he didn’t even acknowledge me when I asked the status of my car (uh, more like IGNORE). Ended every sentence with an impolite «No ma’am» or «Yes, ma’am»… ya get the scenario. Basically, the guy was a real JERK.
They couldn’t even figure out HOW to fix my car, even when I TOLD them what was wrong with it (had been diagnosed at the Dealership). Two guys were sitting there staring at the computer (as if it was going to magically speak to them). At least they didn’t charge me, but what a waste of time waiting for 90 minutes…

Terrible Customer Service.
As I was driving past the store I saw a huge sign in the window advertising «buy 1 get 1 free» on wiper blades. With my wipers falling to pieces and monsoon storms looming, I thought it would be a good idea to buy some.
After I picked the specific brand up and declined on «upgrading» to the performance blades (that were not but 1 get 1, funny enough) I was informed that the buy 1 get 1 sale was not in effect until tomorrow…
Having worked in retail before, it is common practice for a misrepresented sale (most often from a sale display being left up too long — this case being displayed prematurely) to be overridden by the manager. The «computer not programmed for the sale» is complete bullshit. A manager can override anything. His only solution was to come back tomorrow.
No thanks, Wiper blades falling to pieces + Sudden monsoon storm = Danger
I bought the blades at full price. I will be back tomorrow to return and re-​buy them just to mess with their daily merch return numbers. But if a store doesn’t take pride in taking care of their customers, I can’t imagine they would take pride in much else.
