Mattress Star

I’ve had my new mattress for a couple weeks now and I’m beyond happy with my purchase! Lucy was a huge help, I prefer super soft plush beds while my husband is more for firm beds and she helped us find the perfect fit for both of us.
Also, I was really itching to get into the new bed ASAP and Lucy was able to get our mattress delivered the very next day AND they removed my old mattress, both delivery and haul away were free!
Finally, the price we paid was perfect. We got a great quality mattress at competitive pricing for the area. I would definitely recommend you check out this store and ask for Lucy :)

Update to this review: we have had the mattress 5 months and there are now two large indents where we lay. Mind you, I’m 110 lbs. How can this be? A $ 1200 mattress should last more than 5 months. I feel like I’m laying in a hammock and have been having a lot of back pain. We will have to purchase another mattress. Very disappointed with the quality.

We had a great experience buying a mattress here. Danny was helpful and patient with us and was very knowledgable about their inventory. I would defiantly recommend this store to anyone looking for a mattress.

I really regret making a purchase in this store. We went in and picked out a mattress, wanted a plush comfort feel which is exactly what the mattress felt like in the store… even asked a sales man why the tag said firm to which response was there are errors on labeling mattresses.:however received a firm mattress… when called the store to tell them that received the firm instead of plush the owner said that that’s the only mattress available in that line and that it will get softer… After asking her to reorder the «right» mattress she refused and hung up the phone…
Now we are stuck with the mattress we don’t want and the owner of the store couldn’t be more unpleasant and unhelpful in this situation

I have called beautyrest and was told that the hybrid mattress does in fact come in different comfort levels and was told also that if the owner really wanted to they can reorder the correct one… but the owner still insists that it doesn’t

I went here to purchase a mattress, and i got awesome service. I was greeted by danny that helped me purchase a mattress that was very affordable, yet very comfortable. I recommend stoping buy.

Lucy was an all-​star! See what I did there?! She took great care of us and was helpful in getting things into my wife and I’s price range. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a bed.

Dan was really helpful, we were immediately greeted and attended to as soon as we got in. We were in and out of there in 20 minutes. Dan knew exactly what we wanted, and he delivered.

I had such a great experience at Mattress Star! I was way overdue to sleep on a good bed (my lower back had been feeling miserable for a very long time every morning), but because I’m cautious about big purchases, I was doing tons of research into mattresses. Mattress Star was one of the first stores I went in to, and General Manager Henry introduced himself to me, asked me what I was looking for, and showed me several beds.
I was kind of set on one, but decided I needed to do even more research. The days passed, and I decided I might want to get a «latrex hybrid» bed. I went back to the store and Henry showed me a Christelle Latex Château Collection bed – and I got the full set, including frame, at a really great price. It was delivered a few days later and I am sleeping better than I have in years.
Henry was so nice. There was no pressure at all and I felt like I was talking to a friend. Plus, he gave me some amazing pillows, too. Loved the experience!

Wasn’t excites about wasting a Sunday mattress shopping but this place made it fast ans easy. NO BS
They showed us the best choices for our needs and we made a purchase after hearing his price which was a lot lower than list. Was out the door within 15v minutes delivery was scheduled within 2 days.

I have been mattress shopping all day and happened to drive past Mattress Star. SO LUCKY. I decided to stop and as I walked in I was greeted by Danny. I told him exactly what I needed and that I needed it today. Not only did he show me what he had in stock but he offered them to me at the best prices I’ve heard all day. He genuinely wanted to meet my needs, was really easy to talk to, and answered every question I had. He gave me plenty of time to try and retry the beds I wanted to and I walked out of there with an amazing bed at an amazing price. THANK YOU DANNY!

I was driving to sears to look at some mattresses and everything was overpriced. I was driving back home and this store caught my attention. Danny was very helpful and gave me the best deal in socal. I walked out with a full sized memory mattress for only 270 bucks! Who can beat that?

Danny was amazing! Helped me pick my new mattress and was extremely knowledgeable. Got me in and out quickly after I decided what I wanted. Thank you so much for having him as an employee.

If you’re looking for a place to buy your mattresses this is an average place. They have a good selection and prices are negotiable depending on the sales person. John is an older man, he is very helpful and explains the difference in the beds. He really helps you find the best fit and is very patient. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have gone back a second time.
My second time there I got help from Danny. I was skeptical at first, he is a younger man. He ended up being very helpful. He didn’t explain things like John but certainly tried his best. He was very convincing and patient as well. He did lie about the delivery but that was not on him but his boss Lucy.
Although the service was good and I am satisfied with the beds. They really need to set up a better delivery system. They have a terrible system. The first time around I waited all day and my beds never showed. I called and was told they would call to inform me about the delivery. The next day without a warning they show up to my house, while I was at work. Then they tell me they can leave the beds or charge me a delivery fee for not being there. I had to call someone to be there for my beds. Terrible experience and they apologized. I was just happy to have the beds.
The second delivery was even worst than the first. I lost two days of work for it. We had agreed to have them delivered Friday morning. They weren’t I called and they said their delivery guy was just late. I later found out it was a lie. A salesman told me that the owner had cancelled the delivery because she had issues with the delivery man. So they lied and didn’t even think of how unfair it was to keep me waiting all day for a delivery that was never going to make it. They didn’t deliver the beds until Sunday evening when it was promised to be delivered in the morning. They said they were really sorry again. They offered free pillows. I don’t really like the owner. The salesman are great. She got really upset at the salesman because he told me the truth. She lost her temper in front of customers and I really hope she didn’t fire the guy.

I tried a couple of other stores around, this was the best one for sure. Daniel was great at helping me out too for making a choice.

Thanks to Danny, coming to mattress star was such a great experience. Went in just to get an idea, and came out with a queen set. Danny was so patient and super informative. Walked me through the whole store, had me try different mattresses, until I found one that met my standards. On top of the great services Danny and Henry were able to work out a great deal for me. Definitely coming back for my living room set.

Let me start by saying I didn’t realize what a harrowing experience buying a bed would be for me, but the Mattress Star staff and Lucy the owner were very accommodating with me through the entire process. I was having health problems, and my chiropractor strongly advised I buy a new bed, since mine was 8 years old. He also said to get one as firm as possible (which I later learned was bad advice for me).
Visit 1
Danny (really friendly, personable guy) helped me out and spent a lot of time talking to me about all the options and had me lay on all sorts of beds. After about an hour and a half I decided to go with a bamboo brand memory foam mattress with an adjustable frame. But after sleeping on it for just one night, I found out it was too firm for me, and I woke up sore and had to ask for an exchange.

Rather than exchange it, they suggested I try putting a soft memory foam topper on it to make it softer. So I borrowed the floor sample of a memory foam topper and took that home. It was softer, but it heated up and I ended up sweating all night, so that didn’t work and took it back.

They then agreed to exchange it for a more expensive, softer memory foam mattress with cooling gel for the difference in price. While it was softer, I then learned I was allergic to the chemicals it was made from, and woke up with headaches and breathing problems.

So I went back to them and I decided to move away from memory foam and ask them to exchange it again for a much more expensive talalay latex bed (for the difference in price), since latex is a natural material. The latex however turned out to be too firm again and after a while started to give me breathing problems. What I hadn’t realized is that talalay latex is mixed with other chemicals (as opposed to dunlop latex, which is 100% natural, but more expensive and not as soft from what I hear). I had no idea that I was so sensitive to these chemicals!
So I called back Lucy (owner) and after talking for a long time, she agreed to exchange it for a coil spring pillow top mattress (the softest mattress they had in the store). I asked if I could take the floor model because it had already been broken in (so it would be softer) and any new-​mattress-​outgassing would have already occurred. They’re going to deliver that bed to me sometime this week — hopefully that bed will do the trick!
Even though I haven’t gotten my new bed yet, I wanted to write a review to say that Danny, John and Lucy took a lot of time with me to make sure they did everything they could to accommodate me. I don’t think any of the big chain stores would have even considered exchanging the bed for me more than once.

Update: The store DID call to apologize the next day about the extremely late delivery. I don’t blame them for the late delivery, and I definitelt don’t blame the delivery man or the salesman who sold us the mattress to begin with. Both of them were great. What was wrong was not being more accurate in telling us the TIMING of the delivery. If you say it will be there at approximately 2pm, and if doesn’t arrive until after 9pm, you have effectively lied to me. If it is off by 1 – 2 hours, I can handle that. But SEVEN!!! That is an issue of just making things up. Also, you should probably hire more than ONE delivery man to deliver a dozen mattresses all over the Los Angeles area for one day. Thanks for the great service in the store. The delivery day was not good, though.

Incredibly helpful and friendly service! He had no issue being flexible in order to address all our needs.
He offered us a great deal when we first popped in, even though at the time we weren’t ready to buy; however, to our delight, the second time we came in, he remembered us and offered us the same, awesome, deal!
This process was made very simple and quick. Very happy with this place.

Update: We have been sleeping on the mattress for a month now, and we are loving it!
Another smooth and easy mattress buying experience. We bought a mattress here before and had the same great experience. We needed to upgrade our mattress size as we are growing (horizontally) so we came back to Mattress Star. We got a Cal King (see picture of floor model) with delivery and haul-​away for $ 900+tax. Henry was super helpful, funny and professional. He showed us all the mattresses that fit our needs and within half an hour, we were out of there. It was awesome too that he called us to let us know that there was same day delivery available for our specific order, so we got to sleep on our bed the same night!
