I found Hollywood Home Improvement on Angie’s List so thought I would be hiring professionals. Boy! Was I wrong. I’m so surprised to see a five star rating for Bernie and his workers because I paid entirely too much for a less than sub par job of painting the exterior of my home. On top of that, I was lied to. Now, barely a year later, paint is peeling and flaking very badly, worse than even before they painted. See photo. Bernie told me that dry rotted wood would be replaced with new wood. I happened to come outside and found him applying auto Bondo to the rotted wood! He assured me it would be fine. It wasn’t. It wasn’t even smooth! and I insisted he replace it as per our contract. The guy he sent to do the repair a few weeks later, ended up breaking roof tiles and just glued them back together. Finally, I can’t prove it but I’m pretty sure either he or one of his workers hit & killed my cat. All in all, it was a nightmare. After my poor review on Angie’s List he wanted to come «make it right». Since my mom was in hospice at the time, I said I’d just prefer a partial refund since I didn’t trust him anymore. He agreed to send me a check several months ago. To date, I haven’t seen a penny. To give you some perspective, his own painter told me, when I’d expressed my frustration, that he tried to tell Bernie that «you can’t cut corners and cheat people like that» which is exactly what he did with us. It us upsetting to be treated this way when I thought I would get a reputable company. I strongly urge EVERYBODY to shop around before settling for this company. I still may file a complaint with the state contractors board over all of this.

We had had a leak in our roof «repaired» 2 or 3 times by others until Bernie and his guys at Hollywood Home Improvement got here. It was destroying the ceiling, carpet, causing mold. Bernie fixed it and it stayed fixed and has not leaked since. His price was fair especially since he is the first one who got it right. He is friendly, easy to have around and has good aesthetic sense that does not break the bank. We recommend him to friends and family. They do much more than just fix leaky roofs. I think they could build a house if you needed them to.
We have an aging 5000+ square foot house so there is always something that needs repair or upgrade. When there is a problem we call Bernie for advice first and he is always willing to help and knows what to do.

Bernie and his crew did a great job expanding a window for me. I had already planned on putting new windows in my home through another local window company, but I wanted to expand my view before doing so. Bernie was pleasant to work with, quickly got the job done, and cost slightly less than other estimates I had done for the project. I would not hesitate to hire him for any other contracting jobs, and I plan on using his services again in the future.

I hired Bernie to various repairs around the place and to paint. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him.
