I visited Fred’s Auto Service for a repair and it was a wonderful experience. Fred is really friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful. Fred and his team went above and beyond to assist me and make sure everything was taken care of at the time of service and afterwards. The shop is well kept, clean, and very inviting. I recommend this service center 100%! Thank you Fred!

Highly recommend Fred’s auto service for all your vehicle needs. Fred is honest, kind and most importantly very thorough with your car. You don’t have to worry about getting ripped off & I know I’m in good hands when I’m at Fred’s. Truly refreshing to find him after previous shop took such a poor care of the job. Fred was nice enough to undo the damage to my car. I was pregnant at the time and he gave me cold water on a hot day & made sure I sat down. When I had my baby, he understood how tough it was to make time & he was very flexible with my schedule. He’s awesome!

Fred’s Auto is amazing. They’re one of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy places I’ve taken my car. For a while I lived in Long Beach and would drive all the way to Fred’s because it was worth it. Definitely worth it!

I have had my car serviced here several times this year and I am pleased to say Fred is the best mechanic. He is not a crook and will never take advantage of you or let you leave unsatisfied. He is humble and is passionate about his business. I do not live close to his shop im Glendale but I will make the 30 minute in order to bring my car here should anything go wrong.

I’ve been here a few times and I can only say good things about this shop! Fred is an honest mechanic who will not try to rip you off. And, if that weren’t enough, he’s very nice and respectful.

Unlike many other repair shops I’ve been to, Fred’s definitely knows how to keep appointments. Staff is always friendly and on time. Never been to a repair shop that keeps appointment times better than Fred’s. I would highly recommend Fred’s if you don’t have any go-​to auto shops.

Got car drama? Drive directly to Fred’s! These guys are honest, thoughtful and really expert mechanics. I had a complicated issue with my car and they totally took great care of me. The staff is friendly, prices are fair, bathroom is CLEAN! They even have this cool glass case full of antique model cars in the waiting room, that was awesome! I will go back to Fred for any further repairs, he was great.

I first went to Fred because I had to (long story). Because of the honesty, integrity and square-​dealing with which Fred treats his customers, he earned my business as my regular mechanic. You’ve got to appreciate a mechanic who will show you the parts replaced and walk you through the work done. Plus he keeps a clean shop, a real sign he takes pride in being the best. 100% recommend!

If I could, I would give Fred 10 stars! He has been a godsend during a very difficult time in my driving life. I walked in there a year ago scared and embarrassed and he broke it all down and made everything understandable and reassured me there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Fred and his team were always accommodating if I was running behind or in a hurry. They always took their time explaining the maintenance and repairs to me. The work was consistently excellent and very, very affordable. I could wax eloquent all day long about how lucky I feel to have found Fred and he will always be my first stop for things mechanical in the future.

Honest, quick, price conscious and reliable repairs. Fred was the best auto shop owner I have ever dealt with. My fiancé and I were driving home to SF and we realized my Prius had a car part hanging off the bottom of our car dragging on the 5. Fred helped fix an issue that would have taken a full day at the nearby Toyota dealership in one hour. I highly recommend taking your car there!

I came upon Fred’s Auto Service when i needed to install an IID device in my car. I had a brand new BMW with a push button ignition. I called around to the installers nearby and was given the story, «Oh, I’ve never done one like that, but I’m sure I can figure it out.» This did not instill any confidence in me at all. As I was asking around, the name Fred kept popping up as «the best». I hesitated because the shop is not near my house and I really didn’t want to drive all the way to Glendale to have the device calibrated.
Also, since I didn’t have my licence yet, I couldn’t drive to get the device installed. Fred and his crew drove all the way out to my house on a Sunday and had the device put in.
I am so grateful to Fred that I don’t even mind the drive out to see him.

FREDS AUTO SERVICE WAS THE BEST!!! I orginally came to Fred to get my interlock installed on my car, and have to say the service was outstanding! Fred and his staff were beyond helpful, anytime i had any kind of situation they were there to take of me right away! I definetly recommend Freds Auto Service to everyone!

I went to Fred’s to install my Ignition Interlock Device (IID). I’ve used other IIDs before and this one is the easiest to use by far. The only thing it requires you to do is exhale into, not inhale like some other devices do. It also shows your BAC level on the device.
Installation was a good price and the monthly fee was also a steal. I did some research and Fred’s has the cheapest monthly fee that I could find.
I would definitely recommend this place. Great service and prices!

The whole process of installing ignition interlock wasn’t long at all, everything went smoothly & easy. Owner of the shop was very thorough showing us how to use & maintain. No problem at all so far.

Fred and his team really seem to know their way around cars and trucks, and they will get to the root of your vehicle’s «issue», thoroughly fixing its problem, rather than just making cosmetic fixes that don’t last and waste your money.
Quality comes first here, so you get what you pay for at Fred’s Auto Service, and what you get, is great and reliable service for a fair price.

I had my interlock devIce installed at the service center in Montebello and had nothing but headache. In fact part of the device was falling behind the brake pedal. The dude in Montebello was not accommodating, in fact he was straight out rude.
I was referred to Fred’s service center in Glendale. This place is great. He was honest and straight foreword. He corrected the problems and I’ve had no issues since. Fred is not your typical stereotype mechanic. I trust this place. In fact I live in Venice and drive all the way to Glendale to see Fred for service on my interlock device.
WARNING: If you need to get a interlock device do your homework. As I’ve experienced there are places out there who don’t care about proper instillation. Don’t go to the Montebello location, he doesn’t know what he is doing.

Okay, so I needed my Interlock device serviced asap and my guy (Pete) in Long Beach would not accommodate or help me, in fact he told me I would have to be locked out and have my car towed to him to unlock it, and a smart ass/​joking about it (as if this bs/​time/​expense isn’t stressful enough)…I was not amused, so I scoured the internet and found Fred’s!!! What a pleasure to deal with kind people and good service for a change — I drive from Long Beach just to go here and avoid Pete’s.
Pete acts as if you are hassling/​annoying him with your car/​IDD, where as Freds is always a classy, friendly, and clean place with speedy service. I would not drive the extra 25 miles each way (50 miles!!) if Pete’s even provided a fraction of the excellent service Fred’s does!!!

I went in to Fred’s Auto for a IID installation. Over the 5 month period of use, Fred and his team were courteous, professional and most importantly, generous with their time; helping me understand the delicate intricacies in having one of these breathalyzers installed in a complex, foreign automobile. I highly recommend them for this type of unique service or any other mechanical need. I definitely plan on using them in the future!

I am so incredibly fortunate that Fred and his mechanics are MY mechanics.
I was lucky enough to find a loosely restored project 1968 BMW 1600 for $ 1600 off Craigslist back home in Alaska, and I restored the car to be mechanically sound enough to make the drive all the way to California but upon arriving my baby started breaking down… Frequently.
I’m a server (waiter) at a diner part time and I work at a juice bar, and Fred’s always given me the best price he can.
I know overpriced work when I see it and I’ve never been treated like a dollar sign by Fred no matter how difficult or time consuming a repair gets
From Chasing all the gremlins out of my electrical system so all my lights and signals worked properly,
to looking all over Los Angeles for one small ridiculously rare bolt that had popped off my carburetor on the I-​5 that he called in a favor from another mechanic just for that part,
to completely rebuilding and balancing my driveshaft… No easy task for the rare 1968 BMW 1600. The guy goes above and beyond
They’ve also worked on my brakes and lines
They’ve set my contact points, distributor and engine to top dead center more times than I’d like to admit haha
Replaced the bolt that holds the distributor from rotating and countless other little faulty parts
And now that my master cylinder is beginning to fail, I’m having him finally tackle the clutch, transmission and carburetor restoration I’ve been putting off since I bought the car
But Fred’s already quoted me a great deal for all that work
He always quotes me a great deal
He meets me where I’m at and does his best honest labor to get my car back as fast as possible
And when I get my car back I never have that problem again
I’ve never had to take anything back to him cause the work was bad, that part of the car stays fixed because Fred and his mechanics know what they’re doing.
Every time I take my car to that garage I take steps toward my baby being restored
These guys are great, even had lunch with them in the garage once haha
I’m gonna keep have them chipping away at the mechanical restoration and have no one else touch my car
I mean don’t get me wrong, he works on modern cars too, I’ve probably got the oldest car he regularly services
But any car I do see there, is never there long and anybody I’ve talked to waiting there has Fred’s auto service as their go to shop as well
Before I moved I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a good mechanic for my baby in LA
I definitely don’t worry about that anymore
