Food was mediocre at best But I felt some typa way when I was there Felt old school Pearl Harbor type of feeling The experience is pretty good but would come here for the bbq Their coconut shrimp was prolly was my favorite coconut shrimp I have ever tried ! Prime rib was totally horrible Ribs were ehh Brisket and pork were okay Burgers good pastas are good too But the beauty of Damon’s is the experience

Famed as an old school steakhouse, Damon’s is actually one of LA’s hidden tiki bar gems with its Hawaiian/Polynesian décor and vibe. We strictly went for drinks so will have to return for steaks at some point in the future. But this review is strictly to highlight the awesomeness of one of their specialty drinks that can be summed up with 3 simple words: Alcoholic Dole Whip! Let me repeat: ALCOHOLICDOLEWHIP!!!

What can I say the food was great for the most part but even with the one problem I did have,(the rice wasn’t to my liking) they fixed it with no problem. Server Mary is by far one of the best waitresses I’ve had in a while. Very attentive constantly making sure my cup was never empty and my table was always clear. I enjoyed the service and quality of food! Great place for dinner with the family!

25 minutes to order and then over an hour to receive our meals when the restaurant was about 80% full is only part of what was wrong with today’s lunch. Our server did not apologize or even thank us for being so patient once. The twice baked potatoes were brought out without any of the requested condiments. The hostess was helpful, but acted as if the wait was no biggie and business as usual in this latest decade of Damon’s. In all fairness, the support wait staff had their act together.

I usually do not give bad reviews and this is my first and hopefully last one star review. I came to this place because it was close to my hotel and it had decent reviews on here. When I walked in it look very cool with all the tiki décor and atmosphere. I walked up to the hostess desk to inquire if the bar area was open seating and she replied that the whole restaurant was open seating. Because I was by myself I chose to sit in the bar area anyways. I found a small table and sat down. While waiting for the bartender to come take my order I called my wife to talk to her and see how her day was. The bartender came buy and took my drink order. I chose the Mai Tai because this was a tiki bar and I figured it would be really good(I was wrong, I have had way better). So I then ask him for a menu because I wanted to order dinner too. After that I could not get him to come back to my table to save my life to take my food order. I ended my call with the wife because I thought maybe that was the issue, but nope, still no service. After awhile he went to a table a couple down from me and once he was done he came over to me and started to ask me what I wanted, but then the table he just left called him back. I thought, he will come back once done there, but again I was wrong. He went back to the bar and started helping the people at the bar. The final straw was when he came back to the seated area and took the food order of a group of 4 next to me that had come there well after me. At this point I was thinking I had chosen poorly and decided to grab my menu and walk over to find a seat in the restaurant area hoping to place my food order. I found a small little table for two and proceeded to sit down. Just then the hostess had come by and asked me if anyone had sat me there, which I had replied no, because she had told me it was open seating. She then had me get up and follow her to the hostess area and informed me that it was no longer open seating in the restaurant area. As we got to her desk she started to give me a lecture about seating myself(it had only been 40 minutes since she had told me that it was open seating anywhere in the restaurant) and to never do that again. Finally she told me it was OK to sit down at that table, but again told me to never seat myself again(WTF, am I stuck in the Twilight zone). Even after all of this headache I still sat down hoping to be served and to order the prime rib, but no such luck. I watched as not one, but two different waiters kept passing me by as they helped other customers in my area. Finally after being in the restaurant for over an hour and still nobody taking my order I finally got up and left and found a hamburger joint around the corner to grab a quick bite. I wish I could give a review on the quality of the food, but sadly I never got the opportunity to order any food.

Prime was cold and flavor wasn’t very good. We should have sent back from friends prime rib but it didn’t seem like it would get better. I’m sure this place is fine for junk food and drinks but I’ve never had a inedible prime rib in my life. Also twice baked potato was Very dry.

Earlier I complained about the ridiculous new cost of the edamame going from $ 6.50 to $ 10.50. Well they must’ve listened cause it’s back down to a balmy$ 8, but the caveat appears to be the rest of the ENTIRE menu increased an average of $ 2.50 per meal and(other) appetizers. Sorry guys. I’ll see myself out the door…

Man oh man, what can I say about Damon’s that probably hasn’t already been written here… A great spot in Glendale with a long and rich history, Damon’s is probably best know for its awesome Tiki vibe. It seems to be going through a resurgence these days, as I’ve noticed the crowd seems to be getting younger and more«hip,» if you’re into that kind of thing. They pour strong drinks, and are famous for Mai Tai’s and Chi Chi’s. That being said… I’ve honestly never been a fan of the food. It is 70’s fare, which is fine, but I’m always left a bit disappointed. The steak is okay, but comes with those fake looking griddle marks, which tells me you don’t get a juicy pan fry like you would at a more upscale steak house. They have a smoker outside, so I usually get the ribs, but again, this can be hit or miss as the bbq sauce is often overly sweet covering up much of the smoky flavor. Anyway, I still go there at least a month. It’s just a fun place to hang out and chill with friends. I recommend sitting in the bar, ordering some small plates like calamari, and having at least 2 – 3 Hawaiian themed drinks. Mahalo!

A fantastic tiki bar and restaurant– the last of its kind and a necessity for any tiki fan. As a steakhouse, there are better, but for their wonderful rum drinks, nothing compares. Try the BBQ Brisket! With fried green tomatoes.

Damen steakhouse is more of a diner style comfort food type with a touch of modern twist. We were in the Glendale area and decided to come here for Mother’s Day, after 45 minutes of waiting we were escorted to our table although without a reservation. The straw hut and island interior décor were very unique, overall a very comfortable ambiance for a night out with the family. Since it was our first time here, we decided to give every item on the menu a try and here were our thought on each of our entrée. — prime rib — very low quality, very bland tasting and heavily lack of flavor. — sirloin — mediocre, nothing too amazing, TGI Friday standard. — Rib — very bland and heavily lack of flavor — Pull pork — great. Sweet and savory, definitely the saving grace for the rest of the items that didn’t work out for us. — loaded potato skin — flavorful and definitely on the heavier side. Great tasting. — starter salads — interesting house mix with a touch of interesting dressing.

Great dinner & atmosphere! They were closing and the kitchen stayed open to serve us! Now that’s great service. I ordered a vegetable pasta with pesto & a mai tai & took home leftovers. Highly recommended!

I’ve always enjoyed Daemon’s. The décor is fun and uplifting, the food is good and the drinks are great(they don’t skip on the alcohol) and reasonably priced. They have Dole pineapple whips now which is somewhat hard to come by and it was very yummy. I’ve been coming here with my family my entire life, my parents even had their first date here, and I’m rarely disappointed. It’s one of the only reasons I ever go to Glendale.

This restaurant is a Glendale hidden gem! From the outside it looks like a bar, which they do have… But it’s a really nice old school Polynesian style decorated restaurant. The lighting is dim and romantic. Most importantly the food is Amazing!!! Yum! Yum! Steak, ribs, appetizers everything is delicious. Please go eat here :)

I was not impressed by the hype and recommendation to come try this place! The décor needs a restyle and remodel stat! And I am totally good with an old school vibe but this place seems a little too unkept for my taste. Out service was great and we were seated fast with a party of six. However their food was not good in my opinion. My son and hubby are huge fans of pastrami sandwiches but here it was a disappointment. Now why serve it on regular sandwich bread with all that meat? Their steaks were eh-And their ‘famous’ Mai Tai’s were horrible! More like drinking gasoline! The Mai Tai’s at Tony P’s in Marina Del Rey are hands down THE best, and served in big/tall glasses-yummy good! I wanted to so like this place but it was definably a miss! Maybe back in the day it was the place to go but not now.

LOVE Damon’s!!! My boyfriend and I are there almost on a weekly basis for their Early Birds specials and Chi Chi Tuesday. The food is great and the servers are always super friendly. Drinks are always nice and strong, they never ever skimp on the alcohol. I can always count on Damon’s for great food, drinks and service. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, expect the place to be jumping and have live music. Id give them 10 Stars if I could. ;)

Yes! Awesome place! Always seems busy. I’ve been coming here on a regular basis for lunch mostly, and this review is long overdue. Last night was my coworker’s birthday so we decided to grab dinner at Damon’s. Mary, our server for the night, was super friendly and attentive. Just the sweetest person. Thank you Mary for making our night so pleasant! DRINKS — Mai Tai’s. Go ahead and try these, they are awesome. FOOD — Crispy Calamari — Yummy. We ordered the salad served with house dressing. I recommend trying the salad with the house dressing, but ranch can be substituted if adventure is not your thing. Garlic bread — outstanding!!! My dinner companion had the Top Sirloin steak, served with a baked potato. He commented on how much he enjoyed the steak because it was cooked in butter and was tender and juicy. I ordered the Tagliolini Seafood pasta — including jumbo shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, cooked in white wine and tomato sauce. Very tasty. A bit undersalted for my pallet. The portions here are pretty big, as I ended up taking half of my meal home. Thank you, Damon’s! Will be back soon. :)

I absolutely love this place. Been coming here since 1975. I was 10 years young then, but I still remember my first visit. It all started with a cheep velvet painting of a topless Polynesian woman on the wall, a dark interior and a keep it on the hush hush whisper from my dad, that this is the place to bring a girl when you don’t want to be seen. This was to be followed by a salad spinning waitress, and the best damnd stake I had ever had. That was my introduction to Damon’s and tiki culture. Today’s Damon’s sits on a different location, the velvet painting of the topless Polynesian woman is long gone, so is the over the top dark interior. However, the salad spinning waitresses, and the great stakes are still here. So are the wonderful tiki drinks, such as the Mai Tai’s and Chi Chi’s. They even have souvenir tiki mugs for those crazed tiki collectors; such as myself. I love this place, always have and always will!

Went for a night out on the town with my Fiancé back to one of his fave restuarants… which is Damon’s! I loved it! The Twice baked potatoe is soooooooo delicious! We had the 8 oz Filet mignon and enjoyed every minute! Our waitress was such a sweetheart and she even brought us out this warm soft yummy garlic bread! Mmmmmm mmm! The atmosphere is so unique, makes you feel like you are on vacation and in the background there was awesome live music tonight and the harmonies sounded great! They kept a nice upbeat lively vibe :) Very enjoyable experience! Thanks Damons!

I’ve been to this place for dinner twice and both times were wonderful experiences. The steaks were good though I had better. I would say that it was worth the price coz they have big plates. I love their warm butter rum. It makes me think of butter beer! :) The prawns was delish though I would think prawns should be a bit bigger. Service was good but could be a bit faster though I would say our server was friendly. There are a lot of people here at night so it can be loud and packed.

I have been coming here since I was a child. This is the best steak house in the area. Beautiful ambiance, and exorations. Their filet is the bomb, as well as their prime rib. Salad is to die for. I recommend you make reservations mainly on Friday and Saturday. They are rally good for lunch as well. The steak sandwich is my favorite. Like my grandma use to say«Come and get it». Hope you enjoy when you come.

I like this place. Food is good and the bartenders are great, but upping the price of edamame appetizer to $ 10.49 is ridiculous. It’s the same price as a full lunch special meal. Is there a soy bean crisis I haven’t heard about yet? 4 stars for food, atmosphere and bartenders. Docked 1 star for my favorite appetizer doubling in price.

Stopped by here last night to try. I had glanced at reviews before we decided to try it, but I neglected to look at the prices. This place is pretty expensive. Most items range from $ 16-$ 29. When we first entered, we spotted waiters/bus boys walking past us and glancing as we waited to be seated. It took a good 2 minutes before the hostess had to be flagged down by my Mom as she ignored us. We finally got seated and served by a very nice waiter. I got the Coconut Shrimp and my Mom got a special of Filet Mignon. The food was pretty good, but nothing to jump up and down about. The price is what was really bugging me, but that was my mistake for not checking beforehand. Other than that, I’ve had better.

I want to give a shout out to Damon’s for fantastic customer service! I showed up on New Years Eve after making a reservation online that was for the wrong date I found out later. The receptionist was very pleasant and gracious but didn’t seem to have any tables as he was booked out for the evening. He then looked at his screen and said he could get us a table but we wouldn’t be able to linger at afterwards. We were so happy to be able to be eating there at all! The food was great and the waitress was amazing! I recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Terrible food! I had dinner last night with my boyfriend — we were excited to try a new place but we’re super disappointed. Everything tasted like it was out of a can or frozen package. Calamari — was okay. Overly breaded but okay with the spicy sauce it came with. House salad was awful. Soggy with some French like«house dressing.» I love salads it’s really hard to screw one up for me but ew! I got the bbq sampler. Ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Just not good at all. Everything was lukewarm at best. The brisket was the worst part — just spongey and gross. Twice baked potato, same story, lukewarm, probably premade frozen product. I sent my plate back for an underseasoned but decent burger. Service was fine. Drinks were good and cheap, 4 $ maitais. But after reading all the reviews about roaches I probably wouldn’t even come back for those!

Stopped by for dinner, grabbed a New York Strip, it was done the way I like it, the twice baked potato was nice. I like the salad, the small beets are a nice touch rather than the usual bacon bits from other places. FYI the parking lot in the back of the restaurant, you have to pay for the space. Change is accepted.

Such a unique place. It’s a tiki wonderland! We made reservations so we were able to get a booth. Our server was super friendly. The menu is well rounded and the portions are huge. Loved all of it. The salad with French dressing takes you back and the meats are tender and tasty. Look forward to going back!

Mediocre food but great service! There’s nothing like being doted on by a career waitress. They don’t have to write anything down, they call you«sweetie» and they always have the best recommendations. We came in after seeing a movie at the horrible Americana, and were feeling like something a bit more authentic(you know, a place where the trees don’t have Frank Sinatra coming out of them). Loved the tiki décor and the comfy booths, but the food was kinda meh. The twice baked potato that came highly recommended was a miss. No flavor and a burnt and hard top. I ordered the ribs(not a big steak eater) and those were fine but with the salad(ew), bread, potato AND cole slaw I couldn’t eat more than one. Ribs taste kinda like pastrami, FYI.

Went here last night and LOVED it. Told my husband we are definitely going back next week. Yum. We had very attentive service, he kept the mai tais coming lol. Also we were greeted very nicely at the host stand by who I am assuming is the manager. My husband ordered the cream of turkey soup to start and the garlic bread. Holy mother of garlic it was heaven. Dipping the buttery/garlicy bread in the soup was the best thing ever. I ordered the salad with ranch to start and it was basic but delicious. I loved the beets. For dinner I ordered the prime rib, medium rare of course, and the creamy horseradish. It was tender and delicious. The twice baked potato with sour cream and green onions was perfect. Husband got sirloin and the potato as well. He devoured it all. Highly recommended.

I went because I heard they were popular for their chichi’s. That thing was SO strong! I couldn’t take more than just a sip. I’m not much for alcohol anyways– The steak was good. The coconut shrimp was amazing. The setting is really quite pretty. Kinda like one of those Vegas restaurants in the casinos. Service was cool. Everyone is nice and on top of their game. TIKI — TIKI — TIKI — TIKI! Place is GREAT and the new owner has made some nice improvements without changing the experience. If you are a fan of both Tiki and old school steak places then I think you will like this place. Don’t come here if you think this going to be a five star steakhouse like Morten’s or other places like that. This is place where you order BEEF and have a drink the same way your grandpa did at places all over the country like this after he came home from the Pacific war. My advice: order a stiff rum drink and a steak with potato and skip the other faire on the menu. Who goes to a steakhouse and orders pasta anyway?

A Glendale tradition. Great Tiki & Hawaiian décor to help uplift any mood. The drinks are what they’re known for, I recommend the mighty Mai Tai or the Chi Chi to rival the ones you get only in Cabo San Lucas. Our family has been frequenting this establishment as long as I can remember & the best part is walking in to see not much has changed all these years… okay nothing has changed and it’s awesome!!!

Was in the mood for steak and this was conveniently located next to the infamous, Porto’s bakery and down the street from our hotel, the Embassy Suites-Glendale. It’s honestly really sketch-looking on the outside, almost like a run down dive bar. When you walk in, you’re taken into a whole other world. The inside is best described as a 90’s tiki bar. Not terrible or bad-looking but definitely what you wouldn’t expect in the small town of Glendale. I am leaving 5 stars for the service. We were immediately greeted by our host who sat us quickly. Mary, our server, then greeted us to take our drink orders. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mai tai and the Chi Chi. Their drinks aren’t that strong so I wouldn’t suggest them unless you like fruity drinks where you can barely taste the alcohol. Mary almost didn’t believe we were over 21 so she thoroughly checked our IDs and noticed that it was the day after my birthday. We ordered filet mignons which were very well priced and very well prepared/seasoned. We both got them medium rare and that is what we got. You don’t need steak sauce at all. Mary was on top of our water refills and making sure our food tasted great. She was fun to talk to and very warming with our table. I left for the bathroom and came back to her singing Happy Birthday with a slice of cake. According to my bf, it was her idea since she remembered it was the day after my birthday. So sweet! I would come back here, order the filet mignons and request Mary as our server any day!

This place is ok. Nothing to write home about, but not bad if you’re in the area and hungry. The service was pretty good and they have a descent happy hour. They have a refillable salad that you can get with your dinner, but unfortunately, the lettuce was pretty wilted, which was not appetizing. I ordered a steak, since that’s what they’re known for, right? It was ok… not well seasoned, but hey– there’s always A-1 sauce. There’s that semi-divey Hawaiian décor going on, which needs a bit of an update and a little more light. Overall, it’s ok, but I would not go out of my way to go back.

So my girlfriend found this little hideaway, and it IS a hideaway indeed! I honestly didn’t know what to expect other than the sign outside looked like it hadn’t been changed since 1955! So I walked through the maze and entered a restaurant decorated a bit like the Amazon meets Denny’s. I wasn’t sure why she would have me come to a place where the average age appeared to be over 65! But alas, I continued to walk through the maze of chairs and onlookers, until I saw my girlfriend frantically waving me to the bar way in the back, or should I say deep in the heart of the Amazon! As I sat down I couldn’t stop chuckling as I look around! «Isn’t this place great!» she blurted out, giddy as a school girl. «Um, yeeeeah» I replied still taking it all in. Well, she talked me into a Happy Hour ChiChi drink. And we had appetizers: SPINACHDIP and POTATOSKINS, both very deliciously filling. 3 ChiChis later, we were good to go! A local guitarist entertained us with acoustically unplugged versions of classics like the Eagles and many more. Good times!

Came for Valentine’s Day dinner. No reservations and were seated right away for party of 2. Initially, they seated us at a table cozy corner to the hostess in the heart of the hustle and bustle. Me being a bit picky with my seating choice, I asked to be seated at a booth. The kind hostess, who has been there for many years, said it was reserved for those who had reservations, but she was still very kind enough to find us a perfect booth at the top part of the restaurant in the far corner that was way more cozy. It was perfect! I ordered the top sirloin steak, which I normally don’t order and boy was I glad I did. It was grilled to perfection!(medium as requested). Also had a Mai Chi combination Mai-Tai and Chi-Chi. Don’t get me wrong, I love Chi-Chi, but wanted to try something different. It did the job! The waitress, Val, was cordial, kind and attentive. Overall experience was great considering the impromptu dinner plans.
