I thought I’d be adventurous and check out one of the non-Elena’s Armenian restaurants in my neighborhood. I settled on Café Armitage, which I figured would either be a hidden gem(like Adana) or a dud. Unfortunately, it was the later. The place was dead and the people who ran the place seemed offended that I was disrupting their television program. I ordered chicken lule kebab b/c it’s really hard to f’up lule kebab. You can buy the uncooked version at a plethora of local stores and it’s consistently well seasoned. Café Armitage’s version was pretty much overly salted ground chicken. Strike 2, like Raffi’s they gave me dry lavash bread. On a potentially positive note they gave me a ton of hummus. However, the item was supposed to come with salad and I wasn’t really in the mood for hummus especially with lavash bread. Well, another dinner in the trash and I’m at home eating salad.
