Think Green: At Big O Tires stores, we have made arrangements with professional recyclers to pickup the fluids we remove from vehicles and recycle the majority of these fluids. If they can’t be recycled, they are disposed of properly.

History

Established in 1962.

The Big O Tires story begins back in 1962, when the automobile was hitting high gear. The market for replacement tires was exploding, and independent tire dealers found themselves struggling to compete with low prices offered by major tire manufacturers’ own company stores. Big O’s founding fathers were progressive independent tire dealers who decided to form a tire-​buying cooperative to secure volume pricing and keep their customers happy.

Big O Tires has become North America’s largest retail tire franchisor, with nearly 400 independently-​owned and operated locations, providing customers with a broad range of automotive services in addition to quality tires, wheels and accessories. Big O has become an industry role model admired for its unmatched customer loyalty ratings.

Business Owner

After 37 years in a progressive career in healthcare, I was looking for a change in my life and ended up partnering with my brother-​in-​law in 2003 to open a Big O Tire franchise in Glendale. I’ve been amazed at how similar this experience is to my former days as a clinical nurse managing emergency rooms. Here our «patients» are vehicles, but their «families», (i.e. onwers), are also very concerned as to the welfare of their «ride», are often faced with difficult decisions, and need to have recommended procedures explained to them in plain English. They need to weigh the risks and benefits of maintenance or repair issues, they’re concerned about costs, and they want to be treated with dignity and respect.

I enjoy the contact with the public and to sharing what knowledge I have to help our customers make solid, rational decisions about their vehicular maintenance.
