From concept to clean up, we will make your event successful. We have our own comprehensive inventory of event production gear. With the agility and flexibility this gives us, along with our talented event staff, years of experience and solid support network, we are able to rise to the challenges of any assignment, anywhere, at any time.

Besides sound systems and event lighting, we have generators, drapes, staging, truss, LED walls, red carpet, velvet ropes, projectors, TVs, cameras, and more.

Sales: specializes in providing DJs with the latest and greatest DJ equipment, speakers, lights and projectors. Loaded showrooms with working displays.

Rentals: Truss, staging, lighting, generators, PAs, DJ gear, backline, and more. Qualified techs to help put a package deal together for you. Will Call or delivery.

Installs: Sports bars, churches, schools, restaurants, theaters; we help design and implement the right AVL solution for any space.

Repairs: Two full time techs, each with decades of experience are available and qualified to work on any piece of errant equipment you might have.

History

Established in 1974.

Originally doing monthly rentals for colorTV and stereos, Astro quickly shifted to DJ, pro-​audio and lighting gear.

Located in the Elk’s building on McArthur Park during the advent of Disco, Astro was central, providing lighting and sound to many of LA’s leading clubs.

By the 80’s, Astro had moved into a larger location (still on 6^th st), and was frequented by early westcoast hip-​hop pioneers, b-​boys, and producers, some now considered legends. Later in the decade, with the rave scene exploding, Astro was a key supplier of DJ gear to this too.

In 1990 Astro moved to its current location in Glendale and continued to evolve; selling records for a bit, starting a DJ school, hosting DJ Battles, but most importantly, taking care of our clients exacting standards. Astro’s history and wide range of experience and technical and creative capabilities in the fields of pro-​audio, lighting, event support, staging, video, promo events, club events and on and on has made Astro a genuine LA icon.

Meet the Business Owner

Craig M.

Business Owner

Founder & CEO of Astro Audio Video and Lighting, Inc., Craig began Astro in 1974 with the help of his father, a LA based electronics specialist. Focusing on entertainment electronics during the disco era, Craig and Astro quickly became experts in all things event, DJ, and nightclub related. From lighting, video, and all things pro-​audio Craig has played an important role in supporting underground and popular scenes through the years, from early hip-​hop, b-​boys, house, techno, DJ battles, theater, and on and on. In addition to Craig’s work with music, he has worked with several White House Administrations doing political events, has provided technical support for countless TV, movie, music video and commercial productions and has worked with countless charitable organizations, helping to create successful events. If you have a chance to chat with him about specific or general technical application his experience and wealth of knowledge may be unmatched.
