Allstate Insurance: A. Andrew Churukian

Churukian Allstate made an error on my policy that has cost me around $ 4,000 so far. My experience with Michael and Andy is that they lack integrity and do not take professional accountability for the very serious matters you entrust them with. I opened this Unilocal account to share my experience with people seeking insurance.
I have been a customer of this agency since I moved to Los Angeles five years ago. Although other insurance companies may be cheaper, I have remained loyal to Michael because I liked the idea that I had a small, personable office with an agent who knew my name.
Over the years I also added my boyfriend and his car to my policy. About five months ago my car was totaled while it was parked outside of my house. Upon purchasing a new car, I called and spoke with Michael about increasing both of our vehicles to full coverage to protect ourselves in the event something similar happened again. As they were old cars, a 1996 Volvo and a 2003 Hyundai Sonata, Michael strongly urged me not to do this; my policy would increase from $ 130 to $ 175-​$ 180 a month. Over the course of three days my boyfriend and I discussed our finances, I spoke with Michael a number of times and finally gave him the go-​ahead.
The next four months we paid the increased premium, and slept a little more soundly knowing we would be covered in the event of any car issue.
Until the evening my boyfriend was involved in a severe collision with another driver. I met him in the emergency room and called Allstate to report the accident and make rental car arrangements, but Allstate informed me that my policy showed we only had full coverage on my 1996 Volvo, not my boyfriend’s 2003 Hyundai.
An Allstate employee searched back into the history of my account and told me she could see the record of Michael entering full coverage for both of my cars on the same day, but that he had only finished completing it for the Volvo, more than likely simply stepping away from his computer and forgetting to complete the process for the Hyundai.
When I spoke with Michael he claimed to have zero memory of my policy increase just months prior, repeating only that the system showed only coverage for one car. I asked if he remembered advising me not to get the full coverage because my cars were so old, and he said he did not. Rather than responding sympathetically that my boyfriend was injured, Michael spoke to me defensively and condescendingly. He informed me that I never could get full coverage on both of my cars for $ 175 a month and that if I wanted full coverage on both he could do it for another $ 100 a month right now.
Because the other driver is contesting the fault of the accident, my boyfriend and I so far have paid out of pocket for towing and storage fees, a car rental fee and a for a new car. We have also accrued emergency room fees and related medical bills. At this point, Michael’s mistake has added months of acute stress and financial hardship to a time of duress. Because he would not acknowledge he made an error, Allstate has told us their investigation into the matter has not proven that we were paying for full coverage and they will not help us cover any expenses.
Furthermore, when I removed the totaled car from the policy, I received a bill from Allstate that showed a sudden premium increase in the amount of $ 600. I suspect that Michael, in retaliation for the investigation, removed all of my discounts and adjusted my policy. I called and spoke to Andy about the increase, and when I asked him to email me my current policy he dismissively told me he could not do that.
My experience with Churukian Allstate is that they lack integrity and accountability. Michael is unavailable for much of the time and Andy cannot answer most questions. They send out mail constantly, but the policy numbers vary from letter to letter, as if the specific categories are arbitrary and only the premium matters. I wish that I had taken the time to read the letters they sent me after my policy upgrade, but I simply trusted my quirky «local» agency. Huge error on my part.
I have since switched agencies and currently have full coverage on both of my cars for under $ 175 a month.

I and my entire family have been with Andy’s Allstate office for over 30 years. We receive acceptional service with. Andy and Michael have always gone above and beyond to help with our insurance needs. I highly highly recommend this office for all insurance.
