History

Established in 1998.

Started with just me in my car teaching piano, dance, theatre and workshops to kids. Grew to include over 30 Teaching Artists, 35 families, and 25 schools! Still growing strong!

Masters degree in Theatre Arts from Trinity Rep Conservatory in Providence, RI, California Teaching Credential, Teaching Artist with the Music Center, Segerstrom Center and Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. Teaching, writing and performing since childhood, and continuing to lead others to do so, facilitating programs all over Los Angeles County. Mother and wife, artist, educator, and passionate about arts education!

I hand-​picked Aimee as my toddler’s beginner dance teacher. She really engages the children and meets them where they are rather than robotically moving through ballet steps (which is what we experienced at Bloom). Her toddler classes progress logically, starting with a hello song and parachute exercises, warm up dancing to narratives, basic ballet at the bar, tap, thank you and goodbye scarf dance, then compliments and stickers. I love that the class is not about technical dance but about fostering music appreciation and artistic expression through the body. If you’re looking for a beginner dance and music appreciation class for your child, Aimee is the one!

My daughter went to Ms. Aimee’s ballet class in Silverlake from 3 to 5 years old. Ms. Aimee is an awesome teacher. She is very understanding of children. Her style is very gentle and calm. I also have a friend who switched to Ms. Aimee’s class after some unpleasant experience with too strict ballet teachers. We both appreciate that Ms. Aimee make ballet class a beautiful but not rigid experience for kids.
One time I heard Ms. Aimee talking to kids when they were stretching together in class. She told them that everyone’s body is different. Some people are more flexible than others, but it’s not that only flexible people can become dancers. She said she knew dancers who are not naturally flexible but they put in effort to be able to dance the way they want to. I just think it’s great that my girl is receiving this kind of messages from her teacher. To me it’s so much more important than how many dance moves she can repeat at the age of 4 or 5.

My son is learning to play the piano with Miss Aimee. He’s 6 years old and looks forward to going to his lesson each week. Miss Aimee is great with kids, she’s very patient and professional and my son is really learning to play. She does a great job explaining to me what needs to be practiced (since I don’t know how to play piano) and she has excellent communication skills. She is very easy to work with and I can’t say enough good things about her. I highly recommend her.

This is my daughter’s first dance class experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one! I grew up taking classes and have much experience with the good and bad environments… this is one that I would absolutely recommend for someone that wants to introduce dance (as well as music and language) to their little ones that will keep their interest week after week! Aimee is a wonderful teacher who goes above and beyond and we are very thankful to have found her!

We’ve had a great experience! My daughter, who has some challenges, has participated in the toddler-​level ballet classes. She has done exceptionally well. Miss Aimee just has a way to keep the kids engaged and motivated. She also has the patience of a saint. Teaching toddlers ballet could be, with someone else, like herding cats. But miss Aimee makes it fun and instructive!

Ms. Aimee’s ballet/​tap class is the highlight of my 2+ daughter’s week! She loves it! I couldn’t believe that Ms. Aimee, or anyone, could teach 2 and 3-​year olds dance, but she breaks up the class brilliantly so the kids never get bored or feel frustrated (she introduces them to some basic ballet, then they act out a story, etc). She finds imaginative ways for them to explore movement and music and has fun props for them to use. The second part of the class is tap, which the kids go crazy for, but they learn coordination and control at their own pace. Ms. Aimee is patient and relaxed about toddler behavior, and parents are welcome to join in, which helps the child feel more excited and encouraged. Boys attend as well, which is great! Also, there are boxes with out-​grown dance shoes, which anyone is welcome to use or borrow. We really like Ms. Aimee. Lovely person!
