Hula Halau Na Mamo ‘O Panaewa

I contacted the Dance School to inquire about dancers for my kids’ birthday party. I was given Kehau’s contact information and could not have been happier with the outcome.
Kehau was very professional and accommodating for our party. And her performance with Kaleo was wonderfully authentic and entertaining! All the kids and parents were totally impressed!

No, I’m not a dancer. I only play one on TV. Actually, my daughter and niece are «keiki» students and they love it here. This has been a wonderful opportunity for them to perpetuate and participate in Hawaiian culture, to learn discipline and respect, and to contribute and be part of a community.
The halau relocated from Colorado Boulevard and the number of dancers have grown quickly in a few short years. Kumu Hula Keoki (Chase Wang) has done a superlative job of acting as teacher and mentor to our little ones, as well as making us parents feel welcomed and part of the hula ohana.
The ho’ike last month (June 2014) was an amazing production and the performances by all were outstanding, demonstrating the leadership and creative vision of Kumu Keoki.

My other home! I love my hula ohana! Especially our Kumu! He is very talented and everyone is really nice! I joined about 3 years ago and had to leave for a bit but came back less than a year ago and the Halau was soooo big! There were so many new faces but they are all so friendly! Kumu and the rest of the halau welcomes everyone to join or just watch! Kumu teaches you that hula is not just about dancing hula, but it changes you. You become more discipline, more outgoing, more determined, and you learn all those things not just from Kumu but from everyone there! Everyone works together, but more importantly, we dance together!

After some research and reading Unilocal reviews, I joined Hula Halau Na Mamo ‘O Panaewa. The approach is traditional and the learning is more than dance. It is culture, language, reverence, respect, and discipline.
Our Kumu is extraordinarily talented and thankfully for me — patient! The haumana (students) are also welcoming and encouraging. I couldn’t be more pleased and more proud to be a part of this hula ohana.

I have been dancing for this halau for almost a year now and loving every minute of it.
Thank you to the dedication of the Kumu, we hula, we sang, we play ukulele, we chanted. There are classes for everyone, come and check us out.
