Cardinal Camera

We have tons — and I mean TONS — of slides dating back to the 1940s. My dad passed away a few years ago, so I decided it’s time to get them all converted to digital. I got in touch with Cardinal Camera, and the owner personally replied to my email and assured me they could do slide-​to-​digital conversion, and that I could take the slides in to their Glen Mills store and ask for Leslie.
The first time I went in, in March, I brought about five carousels in. She told me converting them was a time-​consuming job, but she’d do what she could. I got the vibe that this was not her favorite part of her job, but I was glad they were able to do it. Over the course of the few days we were in town, she was able to cruise through several carousels. The digital prints came out great, and I was excited to come back in August with all of the other slides for conversion.
Three weeks ago, I brought in 5 banker boxes full of slide carousels. First, the gentleman at the counter basically acted like I was bringing him the worst possible project in the world. I mean, the sighs, the groans, putting his head in his hands, etc. HI I’M A CUSTOMER BRINGING YOU BUSINESS. Super unprofessional. I told him I’d be away for two weeks and was told there was NO WAY they could get that many slides done in two weeks. I assured him that was fine (again, customer reassuring «professional» — not a good sign) and I would pick up whatever they could get done before I left to go back to Seattle, and my Mom would get whatever remained. He told me they’d call me after each banker’s box was done so I could come in and pick each up in turn.
Three weeks later, I’d heard nothing, so my husband went over to pick up whatever they’d finished, as we leave on Wednesday.
THEY HAVE NOT DONE ONE SLIDE. NOT ONE. Three weeks time, and they literally didn’t even manage to scan one carousel. Zero progress. And no apology, no nothing. «Oh, that’s gonna take a long time,» she told my husband. «At that speed,» my mother says, «Yeah, it will take forever.»
I’ll now be bundling my slides and sending them off to an online company that scans to digital with a guaranteed turn over.
Cardinal Camera, you are the reason more and more people are doing their business online instead of in locally owned and operated stores. Well done.
