What a disappointment. I used to go here as a kid but it’s just not the same! Went in for a foot long and got two skinny hot dogs in a huge sub roll! I thought they had made a mistake so I went back in to ask and everyone in the place laughed! One guy said you’re wasting your time if you came here for a good hot-dog. Don’t even waste your time. The sooner they go the better. Next time I want a good hot-dog I ‘m heading to Pollack Johnny’s.

This is sad to say but a place i have gone to my whole life has been a disappointment for the third time in a row i only gave them a 2 star because i love the milk shakes but what ive seen going on is sad. They can not remember orders have to ask you several time what the toppings are i think the old school ladies would be just as disappointed. Its time to get a pen and paper for the orders i do not like onions but love a chill cheese double but after telling you my toppings 4 maybe 5 times still get onions and dont see til i get home to eat. Then i find a steak sandwich is one lonely steak-em on a roll sad just flat out sad a damn steak-em. So if you want a good milk shake go there you want food you ask for toppings the way you want them go else where.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. Stopped in for lunch Sunday, since it’s been awhile and we can always rely getting a great double with everything. Well I don’t know what they did but the chili was watery and had no taste. They need to change it back to the old recipe, and stop using so much water.

Good food, the kids did not like the hot dog buns though. I would go back and get a footlong with everything on it.

Heard a lot about this place and decided to check it out. Inside looks like a small 50s diner, no tables just a bar counter with stools, though there are tables outside. The footling double dog tastes pretty good! The bun is great and the more of the dog you eat the better it tastes!

Awful staff, treat people like absolute garbage. Foods just as bad as the staff. Never go there.

I grew up going to this place(since at least the mid-80s), so it’s sad to see the serious drop in quality over the last few years. The last couple times I got a milkshake, which used to be awesome, it had a bunch of gummy stuff at the bottom and generally didn’t taste right. Not sure what that was. So I stopped getting ice cream because I still liked the food. Well the last couple times I’ve been there, the buns were stale, the food was off, and they messed up my order. I understand that they pride themselves on not writing things down, but when you start screwing up 100 percent of the orders, you should start writing things down. Since it’s carry out and everything is wrapped up when handed to you, this isn’t noted till home. Not sure if it’s under new management or what(I haven’t seen anyone working there for very long the last couple years), but it’s now terrible. No longer recommended. In fact, not only not recommended, but I recommend you don’t go there.

Awesome cheese steak, though a little greasy, was very tasty. The strawberry shake was very pleasing as well. Definitely keeps you full for awhile.

Cherry vanilla shake is my favorite and footling with homemade chili is the best. But bring cash and prepare to wait

I’ve been wanting to check out Ann’s Dari-Crème for quite some time, so I was super excited when the hubs agreed to go out this way: P This place is a small little ‘stand’, right off of the Ritchie Highway. Inside, you’ll find a short and sweet menu offering footlong dogs, burgers, steak/cheese steak sandwiches, fries, shakes, and ice cream. I’d heard a lot about their Famous Footlong, so we ordered one of those, ‘all the way’(which included chili, onions, and mayo; I actually thought the hot dog would be fried or grilled, but it was just boiled; both the hubs and I weren’t really fans of this as the hot dog was a little too pink in color for our taste, not much flavor, and the hoagie roll it was set in was a little too dry; the chili was also not tasty and bland; I like how they cut the hot dog in half for you automatically!); a Cheese Steak(used a different type of roll that was softer and better tasting, this actually had whole pieces of ribeye rolled into it, rather than the usual ‘chopped’(which I actually prefer) — however, the grilled onions, the cheese, and the extra mayo made this cheese steak not too bad; I thought it needed a tad bit more seasoning, but the hubs thought it was pretty perfect and stated it was one of the better ones he’s had!); and, a side of fries(hot, crispy, and tasty). We also tried their shakes: I had the Banana, and the hubs had the Strawberry — both were the right amount of consistency — slightly thick and the right amount of creaminess. It didn’t have much of an overpowering fruit taste, but it was still delicious! Service is super efficient and no-nonsense. There are a limited number of stools at the counter(about 8 seats total), as most locals seem to take their orders to-go. Check this little gem of a place out; I’d love to try out their other flavored shakes as well as their cheeseburgers next time! +Shakes! :D +pretty okay Cheese Steaks +french fries! +efficient service!

Not sure what keeps bringing people back. We went once and won’t return. The cheeseburger was tasteless, two small patties that did not quite resemble meat. The bun seemed old. Fries were limp, pale and bland. Who cares if the hot dog is a foot long when it is skinny, brittle, and just not good. I guess if you drown it in chili or a dozen other toppings, you might be able to get it down, but not until you have consumed many alcoholic beverages. Even our two labs didn’t seem excited about the hot dog, which should tell you about quality. Someone needs to go to Chicago and check out all the corner hot dog stands. They know how to do it right and it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

I came here because I heard this spot has been around for decades! I decided to see what all the hype was at Ann’s, hoping for a memorable experience… THEGOOD… –chocolate milkshake was good –fries were ok –service was ok –easy to park THEBAD… –very bad choice for non-meat eaters –doesn’t take credit/debit cards –limited menu –cooking area looked very dirty Overall, I wanted to really love this place, but just couldn’t based on my initial experience. They have an ATM machine inside, but of course there is a surcharge. It’s 2015… you can keep the feel of the 50’s, but take the payment of today. I’m willing to return if I’m in the area for a shake perhaps, but I wouldn’t drive out of my way here.

Another fantastic meal at Ann’s. In business now for 65 years. I’m a relative newcomer — have only been coming here for 45 years. The best thing is that it never changes. Watching the order taking can keep you fascinated for a long time. No computer, no paper and pencil, just good old memory of every detail of your order. The food, as always, is the best. I’m a cheeseburger sub person with«hots». Everything else all the way — chili, mustard, onions, pickles and relish. Add the freshest roll and you’ve got a sandwich worth traveling from Texas for. Sadly, I only get to stop at Ann’s 3 or 4 times a year. But, I never miss a visit any time I get close to Baltimore or Washington. Don’t miss it!

Ann’s is solid. I’ve been going here since I was born and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. It’s tiny, has a no-nonsense menu, and is cash only. Burgers and hot dogs are always great. Shakes are amazing! I love watching the ladies that work there, I’m mesmerized by how quickly and efficiently they make everything. I’ve never been here and there not be a line out the door. Know exactly what you want by the time you get to the register because these ladies are busy!

After all of the stellar reviews of this place, I definitely expected better than what I received. I ordered a double dog with«the works»(which apparently consists of mustard, onions and chili — not that there’s anything wrong with that, but where’s the pickle relish?) — this was supposed to include cheese, but I’ll be damned if I saw(or tasted) any on there. It was just«okay» — it was remarkable for the size of the thing, which admittedly was generous. But the taste? Well, I’ll just say this — I actually think a packaged Hebrew National tastes better, to be honest. The bun was just a bun, nothing really special about it. The fries were just okay, also nothing special. I had expected maybe hand-cut fries or something, but… they were just plain old fries that I could have gotten at, say, Sonic or the like. Nothing to write home about. If they’d had malt vinegar on offer, I think it would have been a LOT better experience — these were definitely fries that could have soaked up that goodness with ease and a lot more besides. I also ordered a cherry shake, and was underwhelmed. It tasted like a McDonald’s vanilla shake with an «afterthought» of cherry syrup swirled in(and believe me, it was definitely an afterthought). I get that this place is iconic — any business that’s been around for 65+ years, it’s got to have something special about it. Maybe I just didn’t order the right thing, I don’t know. The only soothing balm is that I really didn’t spend hardly any money here. The prices are dirt cheap, I’ll give them that much. The entire meal was just a little over ten dollars, which in today’s economy is a steal. No place to sit in there, so plan on going outside with your meal or to sit in your car. Not the ideal setting for a hot-ass July day. Definitely cash only. Know what you want and be quick about it — they weren’t overly gruff with me, but if they don’t urge you to hurry, the line behind you will. I may come back and try something else on the menu, but I sure wasn’t impressed by what I did have. Disappointed.

Mixed emotions… that’s what I have with this place. The whole place oozes nostalgia, taking you back to a 50’s era ice cream shop. There are only a few stools by the bar, but if the place is crowded don’t count on sitting at any of them unless you like getting elbows in your back and shoved out of the way as people crowd to the counter to order. And they only take cash, so come prepared… they do have an ATM inside, if you can get to it. As for the food & treats… the shakes are amazing, highly recommended. I personally love the banana, but haven’t had a bad one. The food… so-so. The hot dogs are deep fried, which some people love, personally it doesn’t do anything for me. After years of only getting ice cream, I really wanted to try their chili dogs that I’d heard so much about, but honestly was a bit disappointed. The chili was bland, and really just made the bun(hoagie bun, not a typical hot dog bun) soggy. Fries are good, but I think when I go back I’ll just stick to the shakes. Oh…and don’t worry if the person behind the counter doesn’t write down your order. They don’t write down anything, but somehow remember everything, even on a complex order, and always get the price right. But know what you want by the time you get to the counter, they’re not known for their patience.

3.5 stars — I’ve been coming to Ann’s since I was a little kid– I used to smile in awe when walking into the quaint little restaurant that boasts a select few bar stools and a crowd of people standing around waiting for their orders. I was excited to see that nothing has changed! This place is Cash only– So make sure you remember to take some $$. When you walk in, take a look at the menu right away– a cheese burger sub with everything or a foot long double dog with everything add cheese are safe bets. A dipped cone is also fantastic if you’re there just for dessert. After a minute or so, someone looks at you from behind the bar and shouts ‘Have you ordered yet!?’ you look around to see if they’re talking to you or someone next to you… No one else is saying anything so you shout out your first item… as you wait for them to write that down, you notice they’re still staring at you… they don’t write anything down, no matter how long or complicated your order is. These people are serious pros. Once you’ve shouted out your whole order, they’ll shout out to everyone what you’ve got– they’ll ring you up and shout your total as you hand over some cash across the counter and get your change. Then you step aside and watch everyone else come in and go through the motion. You can tell who has been there before by the concerned look on their faces not knowing how to go about the ordering process. It’s kinda fun to watch :) I don’t recommend coming here in hopes of eating inside– rather plan to take it to go or enjoy it on one of the multiple tables /benches that are scattered about surrounding the parking lot. The subs/hotdogs themselves aren’t the most amazing things in the world, but they’re pretty good and their style is very unique and difficult to get anywhere else so I suggest you swing in to give them a taste. Their dipped ice cream is definitely above average though!
