The good: clean, good breakfast, good coffee(kuerig in every room), nice house and grounds, wifi, cable in the room The bad: very thin walls(you could hear people down stairs talking or walking on hard wood floors while upstairs), AND they have weddings out back on most weekends(I.e. You get to here wedding party music all evening long… don’t expect a nice quite evening if one is scheduled)…this would’ve been fine if they warned us, but they didn’t, and now I’m listening to MC Hammer radiate thru the walls at 10:15 pm

My mom had her wedding reception at Virginia Cliffe Inn this past weekend and we had so much fun. Probably one of the best times I have had in my life because everything was beautiful and I got to spend time with my entire family all at once, which doesn’t happen very often. There were a few vendors that were booked through the Inn that were not very good and there were also some billing issues at the end of everyone’s stay but I will let my mom review those and stick to my own personal experience here. Let me preface this by saying that I am not generally a fan of bed and breakfast type inns. I prefer the anonymity of a hotel, I don’t really care for having to let anyone know if I am coming down for breakfast or the other things that come along with staying in what is essentially a family home that happens to have strangers staying there as well. That is my own personal preference, not a reflection of this inn. That being said, the inn itself and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The home is warm and inviting and the rooms are very comfortable. They very kindly put two trundle beds in the room for my kids before we arrived so we did not have to deal with that when we got in late on Thursday. There were also complimentary snacks, sodas, and coffee outside of our room, which was SO nice! I was a little confused about how housekeeping was supposed to work. I thought our room would be cleaned and towels replenished while we were out of the room on at least one of the days but that didn’t happen. I am sure I could have asked and they would have cleaned and/or given us fresh towels but I didn’t get around to it and we were only there for three nights anyway. The owner and the staff that I happened to run into while we were there were very friendly. The grounds were what really made the weekend perfect though. There is a huge grassy area along with a both a small and large gazebo and a barn in the back. There was a tent with lights set up for the reception(this might be up all the time, I’m not sure) and there is a pond with swans and ducks, my kids had a great time feeding them. There was plenty of room for eating, dancing, mingling, and resting during the reception and it just looked really lovely. There was also plenty of parking for guests. All in all, it was a great weekend and the Virginia Cliffe Inn was a wonderful venue.

We spent the first weekend in May at the Inn, and it was just perfect. The grounds and home are beautiful. Janice was happy to give us a tour of it all and answer all of our million questions. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast with Janice and Margaret and learned more about the home, the area, and local history. We recommend this inn to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing getaway! Everyone is warm, friendly, and makes you feel like part of the family. Don’t forget to walk to the pond to see the swans!

My sister and her husband came from Houston to visit and I surpriced them with a weekend at the Virginia Cliff Inn. They love it and were impress on how well keep the house is, the service they got and the outstanding breakfast they were served they said the got the best biscuits they ever try. If you want to have the real Virginia experience try this place. Close by all and still feel like far away in the mountains.

My wife and I stayed at the Virginia Cliffe Inn over the weekend in Glen Allen, Va. This was pure Southern hospitality at its finest. The inside of the Inn was decorated magnificently, each room more amazing than the next. It was almost as though we were inside a historic museum on the outskirts of Richmond. Our room was fantastic, as they have at least four to choose from at the Inn. We picked the Karen Lynette Room and were more than satisfied. The staff was very professional and courteous. The breakfast the next morning fixed by Mrs. Clifton was superb. It was a stay at the Inn we would never experience at any hotel chain. We were just lucky we selected this Bed and Breakfast as we had never stayed at one before, this was our first. We will be back next time in Richmond as we were so pleased with the congeniality of the family who owns the VaCliffeInn, the room, the breakfast and every other aspect of the Inn. There are plenty of places to eat in the area for a late night dinner. We so much enjoyed our conversations with Mrs. Clifton before and during breakfast. Wow is my final review of the Inn

If you think the grand staircase at the Jefferson Hotel looks like something from«Gone With the Wind», wait until you see this place. It could double for one of the film’s plantation homes. The Southern Georgian mansion on this six-acre estate has a romantic gazebo, making it a favorite for destination weddings. There are only four guest rooms and a full breakfast is included in your stay. Even though it’s only about 12 miles west of downtown, it feels like you’re in another state so it’s a great in-town getaway.
