I did not have a good experience, in the end. I ended up complaining to the corporate headquarters about some of their practices.

I stopped by last week at Armstrong service department as I needed to get my VW Passat checked. Needless to say one of the service guys (bald, stocky/​short guy) was not very friendly and acted as though I was bothering him vs. even trying to help us out-​it was evident he is in the wrong industry – customer service is not his strong suit.
While I initially scheduled an appointment, I decided to go back to Herzog where I purchased the vehicle. It is too bad that a bad service employee is the face of Armstrong.

My vehicle, a 2011 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI, died at my workplace this week. That location is around fifty miles away from Armstrong VW. I had the car towed to a VW dealership in that area, and was quoted $ 5000.00 as a cost for the fix. I called Chris O. at Armstrong to see if he could help me find a better option, since he had always been great to work with in the past. Chris negotiated a discounted rate with Speeds towing, and I had the car towed to Armstrong. Chris worked with VW and got the cost of the parts needed for the repair covered, so instead of $ 5000.00, the final bill will only be the labor charge of $ 1500.00. I highly recommend Armstrong VW and Chris O. for any VW service needs. I purchased this car there, and plan to return when I’m ready for my next VW. Thanks for the great customer service!

I spent some time yesterday with Denis at Armstrong VW. I took a Tacoma for a test drive and had a great experience. I ended up purchasing a Tacoma from another dealership, but would be remiss if I didn’t leave a good review for Armstrong VW. Denis was very courteous and respectful. I really appreciated the way I was treated and felt comfortable talking with him about purchasing a vehicle. I would highly recommend Denis and Armstrong VW for a pleasurable car-​buying experience without any pressure.

I purchased a used Subaru from these guys on 1÷1÷16. They were great to work with, very helpful, and gave me a great deal. I would definitely recommend them.

From start to finish, this was an excellent experience. The sales team did a great job helping show us the exact car we were looking for. They made the whole process quick and easy. Lou was fantastic and I could not have asked for a better salesperson. It felt like the whole dealership understood my needs with regard to payment and worked every angle they could to help us get everything we wanted while still managing to stay within our budget. I just bought a 2016 Tiguan here yesterday, and the entire experience couldn’t have been better! Joe Couch was my salesman, and he did an outstanding job of finding me the exact vehicle I was looking for. He took me on a really good test drive in a local Tiguan so that I could get a feel for driving them (a really great ride, by the way). When Armstrong didn’t have one with the colors and features I wanted, he arranged a dealer trade to get me the exact model the next day. That Tiguan was in Spokane, and he had it delivered the next day. The. Next. Day.
It arrived, he showed me all the features, and he stepped me through features and setting that I didn’t know about — he really knows his stuff. And he is relentlessly honest. He wanted to make sure I didn’t have any surprises, even when the answers weren’t what I was hoping for. He is a straight-​talker who really wants his customers to be happy.
He had the paperwork ready to go before I even got there. He handed me off to Nick to finish the financing, and we were done in short order. Nick explained everything really well, and he was patient when I didn’t get it the first time.
I’ve never had this kind of experience at any dealership, ever. I wasn’t just another commission — I was a valued customer. It was almost disorienting compared to every other car-​buying experience I’ve ever had. It was refreshing.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I bought a new Passat there yesterday. Been using the same salesmen since 2001. So far between my wife, mom and myself we have bought 6 cars from him over the years. And never had an issue. Always get me what I want and the best interest rate and beat trade value be can get me. Dan Burke (fleet internet MANAGER) and Jack Roberts (GM) really do deserve credit for taking care of customers and doing fair and reasonable business. I shop every time before I go there just to see what other manufacturers offer for rates on financing and trade values… Dan and Jack always come out more then fair. I’m not one to point people to a car lot cause I get pissed just thinking I have to go in and spend money. But this place and people really are a good chemistry and I been a vw fan since I was a kid. So for me it’s a great place. Maybe not for all. But just figured I would share my experiences with them with everyone else. I feel that in 15 yrs and 6 cars, you get a good feel of what and who your dealing with.

Received an email about Volkswagen’s current owner incentive program and called to get more information’s about it. I spoke with the fleet manager who told me to come in the same day (¹⁰⁄₁₈) to meet and go over some numbers. Arrived there just to been told that the fleet manager is not in today (?!). A salesman briefly talked with me and took my personal as well as the vehicle data and told me he/​they will get back to me. Three days later I still have not received a call or a follow up email. I guess I will take my business to another VW dealer in the area.

Found a car (not a VW) through a car buying service. Went in and waited a bit longer than I wanted but once we established that I was not going to be using their financing the process went more quickly. The trick is to go in with financing in place and be firm when they repeatedly ask you questions about financing. That is where they make most of their money and can pad the cost of the vehicle. Would have been more stars if they hadn’t tried to push their financing on me, although I will say the salesman I worked with seemed pretty sheepish and not very pushy, seems like most of the pushy behavior was coming from the managers.
They were pleasant and easy to work with (once we got past the financing issue) otherwise.

«Stupid 12v outlets ruin a good review»
Something so simple, but when your phone is an intricate part of your business you need to be able to depend on little things like being able to charge your phone through 12v outlets.
My 12v outlets stopped working and I took the car in for it 30k oil change and mentioned to Katie that they weren’t working and thought it might be the fuse.
Before I took it in I tested the charger in my husbands truck to make sure it wasn’t the charger. It worked fine over an hour errand run the night before.
2 stars because Katie was a pleasure and the oil was changed, tires rotated and brakes flushed.
I was so excited to get it back to working order as it has been a huge inconvenience not to have it. I drove approximately a half mile firm the road, plugged in the charger, only to find nothing had changed.
Katie called me back and left a message saying it must have been the charger that blew the fuse and it would not be covered under warranty.
I called her back and explained that the charger worked fine in a Dodge, but not the Volkswagen Beetle? I had used the same charger for over a year and it had always worked and I was confused. She said she would have to talk to the shop foreman and get back to me.
Chris called and explained that my Volkswagon Beetle must have had a spike in the charger and now when I plug in the charger it recognizes it and blows the fuse to protect the car. Ok so it’s a defect in vw? Because the dodge handles the charger fine? He told me he wasn’t going to try to convince me that he was right and I’m going to believe what I believe. True. That I could pay for diagnostics or buy a new fuse and a new charger and see if that takes care of it. He said this happens all the time and j asked if this happens all the time why wasn’t I warned about it? And he said he couldn’t predict the future and didn’t know if it would happen to me. If it happens all the time that warrants to be a good recommendation that this is possible and you use the same charger at your own risk. I feel over a couple dollar fuse Chris and the service team could have done a better job in customer satisfaction rather than being condescending to the customer. I asked if it wasn’t covered under warranty why wasn’t I charged originally? An act of good will, he responded. That’s what I get for spending thousands of dollars for an extended warranty. Poor customer service and an explanation that could have been helpful before spending 2 hours in their waiting room only to apparently blow the fuse again. Thank you for your unhelpfulness.
Ps need to buy a new car in December — won’t be coming to Armstrong. Bummer… just a few dollars for a fuse and a little understanding for the customers frustration could have went a long way.

Bought my new car last week from Andrew Bruce… what a wonderful car buying experience. Everyone we had contact with at this dealership was easy to work with and friendly, no pressure sales situation. I’m loving my new ride! I still can’t believe it was a stress free experience! I will be bringing my new VW to Armstrong for service as well

Dan Burke was great to work with. Usually car salesmen are pushy, sleezy and frankly hard to work with. I sometimes cringe with the idea of purchasing a car because of that. Dan was the exact opposite. He listened to what I was looking for and worked with me to ensure I got what I wanted. There was no price haggling and I believe we both walked away satisfied.

We drove from Seattle to Gladstone to buy a new Bug convertible. Steve Simmons provided a detailed purchase plan via computer, all terms were agreed to prior to our commute down. And as an experienced auto rep, he delivered exactly as promised. You can trust Steve. He is kind, patient and knowledgeable. This was a zero hassle transaction.

I came in for my diesel additive, and while I was there, they found a recall to correct as well. Not only was Chris O. amazing, by getting me in immediately, and fixing my car faster than quoted, but the hidden gem was Joel, the shuttle driver. He was a bright young VW enthusiast, and a kind soul too. We talked the entire way to and from the dealership about our Volkswagens, current and past. I had a blast, and when we got back to the dealer and he saw my car was still being washed, he jumped out to help finish cleaning it! Truly spectacular.

I chose this shop because of the Unilocal reviews and they lived by it. Chris O. walked me through the entire process from diagnostic to offering me the best ways to fix my Touareg v10 tdi. Because if the rarity of my car model, I was extremely interested by the background of the chief mechanic, so I asked for credentials. Chris was speaking eloquently about him, also with pride and respect, which made me think I found the right shop for the work which I need. Chris also worked diligently with my warranty company, transferring the work bid, telling them why and how we are fixing the tandem pump. This is the place to take a vw car and fixed in the right way. I like to call this shop «the strong arm to protect people’s car» (e.n. copyright by ovidiu L.).

My parents (I’m 22) have been buying/​leasing VW’s from Armstrong for several years now and we’ve always had a great service. I went there myself to get a tire patched and to get an oil change for my Beetle. The guy who helped me in the service shop named Chris O. was pretty smug and condescending. I wait in the sitting room for approximately 30 minutes before they tell me that 1. they aren’t going to patch my tire and 2. that I had a pretty bad oil leak. Well this was news to me since I had never, not once seen oil in my driveway. They say that they need to keep my car until they can identify where the leak was coming from so I had to have my dad come pick me up.
The next day they call saying that I had a crack in my oil reservoir (or some BS like that) and they won’t patch my tire because the tread is too low. They tell me that the repair will cost like $ 400 so we agree. I finally go get to pick my car up and I leave it in my driveway overnight and when I go outside the next day there is oil EVERYWHERE. Seems kinda fishy that I have no issues then I take it to Armstrong, then a few days later my car is leaking like a sieve.
Understandably, my dad was furious. He called them and let them know what was going on and we returned it Armstrong. Then they said that the oil housing (?) needs to be replaced in order to stop the leak. After much negotiation, Armstrong agreed to discount the cost of the repair — which I feel that they broke in the first place. We also agree to buy a whole new set of tires. So after an additional $ 1,400 I finally get my car back with the promise that everything had been repaired.
It was literally leaking the next day. We took it to a local shop in Tualatin called Paragon to get a second opinion. They called the next morning saying that the housing was covered in dirt and grime, meaning that it had never been replaced. We told the guy at Paragon the whole story so he took photos as proof that the original housing was left in the car.
It cost roughly an additional $ 900 to get the ACTUAL repairs done and I haven’t had a problem since. It’s been around 6 months since this all this transpired and I’m still so bitter about the whole experience, I felt compelled to write a review. We never contacted Armstrong again about our findings because we didn’t want to get the runaround and waste more time. We’ve never had a problem with them until this, but due to the severity of the issue, it’s safe to say we will NEVER work with Armstrong again. I feel robbed.

I stopped in to look at and possibly buy a 2015 Golf TDI from Armstrong
Car on their website wasn’t on the lot and salesman John cameron said he would locate the car and have it there first thing in the AM if its still available.
So to make the process easier i submitted an application online that night in hoping that i would have an answer the following morning…
No calls… Around 2pm i started calling John to see whats going on and he mentioned he was on a test drive and was going to have someone else call me for my trade info that they didn’t have but i included with the online app.
I decided to just head there @ 4pm to see what was going on. They hadn’t looked at my credit or done anything but another salesman Lou did find the car and had it there.
We went in and they evaluated my trade… I was in complete shock.
Lou came out with a KBB Trade in value for a reasonable amount ($ 35,900) for my 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited Rubicon that was nicely loaded… I KBB Trade in and got ($ 37,600) for it since it only had 3200 miles and was practically new
He then came back and said they offer $ 30,000…I was shocked and insulted I’ve never been offered $ 5−7K back of trade in value in my life… This isn’t my first car and know how the car game works but this was ridiculous…
I bought a 2012 TDI from them new without any issues in the past and was hoping for another decent deal…

I just leased a VW Jetta from Armstrong, I have to say it’s probably the best experience I’ve ever had at a car dealership, I went in, told them what I needed and I never once felt pressured, I had to leave and come back when I did they had all the numbers worked out. My salesman John was awesome and explained everything to me, and the finance guy Nick was great as well. I plan to return in the future and would definitely recommend this place.

Bad experience with a salesman named LOU. You just lost a potential customer, I will never come back to this location. Be more patient or get a new job, that’s what a salesman is supposed to do. You don’t take your hat off and shake your head because I don’t want to purchase a car from you. Not to mentiom, you are not supposed to explain how purchasing a car works. I know you get commission off of each car you sell. The thing is, I don’t care. Lou was irritated because I didn’t want to drive to the other lot with him; he didn’t want to lose his sale. I hope your management team sees this for I am highly irritated. I’ve never been treated this way at a VW dealership and I’m genuinely disappointed at the service you have provided at the Armstrong Volkswagen.
Message for Lou: learn your stuff. More importantly, learn how to be a salesman. You are obviously in the wrong industry to be in. Give this man a booklet for he does not know his cars. You, sir, should go to a used car dealership on 82^nd. That’s the service that was provided to me here.
