The Learning Curve

We have had two children in two different classrooms of TLC since May of last year. Any situation that arises, they are willing and happy to help.
If you are someone with routine drama, who cannot pay tuition on time, who brings children to day care sick, etc. — please do not come to TLC.
TLC is a family environment full of genuine love and care for the children. If a staff member needs something, the owner OR the manager (two different people) will jump in to allow them to attend to their personal needs. That said, there is consistency amongst who is taking care of your children, and the rooms WE have utilized have always been UNDER ratio and even if AT ratio the manager spends a good chunk of her day in there.
I interviewed 20 (yes, I said 20) day cares prior to selecting TLC. I just knew I could find perfection for my son. I started interviewing at 4 months prego.
Blair knows as much about him as I do. I would trust her with his life — I know she will do anything for my kiddo.
Jaden’s teachers pay extra attention to him, understand his need for naps or he gets unruly in the afternoon, coached him on behavior issues — and he is now quite the little artist, sight word reader, and engineer.

I have been with The Learning Curve for three years and cannot say enough good things. My daughter is only three and she can count to fifty and is already writing! The staff is phenomenal with the children and the center really caters to learning. The owner Joyce makes sure that learning and safety is #1. There is camera in every room so I can log in to see my daughter anytime I want while I’m at work. All the classes are very well rounded with physical education, nutrition, health and learning. Before we moved to Gilbert our son went to tutor time. He didn’t learn anything as the larger conglomerate daycare are just babysitter with no thought for learning. If you want you child to learn and be more than prepared for kindergarten go here. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews when the people reviewing were only there for two months. This is the best center I’ve been too, and my daughter is really excited to go here and learn!

SERIOUS RED FLAGS NOW! We were faithfully at this center for 2.5 years and loved the webcam and the teachers, and even befriended the owners. But in the last year or more specifically 6 months, it has REALLY gone downhill. Owner/​Director situation went down to one person running the whole show. It was a good center when there were two Directors, but now with one, there’s not enough time to focus on everything needed. Teachers are more worried about when is the next time they’ll get yelled at in front of the kids. My 2.5 year old would come home and tell me how his teacher was yelled at and it scared him. Teacher turnover was getting ridiculous, people were not showing up just a few weeks into working. The teacher in my son’s room literally ran out of the room to handle personal business while I was there, the owner ran over to the room a few minutes later, but still, that’s a liability/​safety issue that could get the center shut down. I didn’t report it, but a few weeks later I saw the same teacher that got «fired on the spot for doing that» back in the center watching kids again. SERIOUS RED FLAG! That in itself could and probably should get the center shut down. Other random info both good and bad: classrooms are nice size; ratios are regularly exceeded; indoor gym was nice during the summer months; some teachers are great and some don’t care to talk to the parents (if we even got to know the teachers name before they quit); the parent agreement is loose and vague so if you do decide to take your kid there, do not do anything outside of the agreement or you can expect a fight; owner has preference to treat certain children/​parents with respect and some get the other side of the coin (I got preferential treatment for the 2.5 years we were there, but now I’m getting the cold shoulder — funny that now I’m not paying them they don’t care about a parent at all — also kind of odd that the owner/​director gives preferential treatment to the people she likes, I would hate to be on the other side of the coin); playground area was nice size; I saw on multiple occasions kids that would walk back into the center with no teacher paying attention until I alerted them that «suzie» had gone inside and asked if she should be doing that. Lots of info to share, not enough time to do it. Again, at one time, this was a great center and met our needs. As of late, it’s gone way too far downhill and I feel bad for the current parents there that don’t ask questions about how their kids day went, why there is a new teacher in their kids’ classroom, or require accountability from the owner. Lots of what I found out was just checking the webcam periodically and asking the teachers questions — brain surgery. It’s not acceptable for me to pick up my child at the end of the day and no one has even the slightest idea how his day went. It’s also not acceptable that to achieve ratios, the owner uses her daughter who is under 18 to «cover». The owner will know exactly who I am, but I don’t care. Other people have a right to know.

This is a horrible center. The owners only care about $$$. They are over ratio EVERY day. Many complaints with the state, look on the state website. The staff are not trained and very high turnover rate. Can you say DAYCARE DRAMA? This place if full of it. There are FAR better choices for the same or less $. Do not bring your child here if you actually want them to be cared for and happy and safe. We lasted a few weeks, kept hoping it would get better, but will never return.

Such A Shame…
When I went in to tour this place I was looking for a preschool for my 3 year old. I loved the cleanliness and the brightness of the place. When I walked into the class that would be my child’s, the teacher was smiling and the kids were happy.
So what’s the problem?
The owners act Snooty and are the most unprofessional business people I have ever encountered. They rip people off and see every child as a dollar sign in my opinion. The paper work I was given contradicts itself and leads me to believe I was being scammed on pricing! I was paying $ 140 week for 3 half days I decided to take a closer look at it, when he pulled me in the office to tell me he was going to rip me off more when I’m already paying too much!
After having my child here for 2 months, realizing it’s nothing special and according to his own paperwork being charged too much, this experience has left me angry and sad for my daughter who LOVED her teacher. PlEASE STAY AWAY!
Not worth time, money or little broken heart :(

I’d give this place a big fat zero if at all possible.
First off, I called in the morning to see if or when I could stop by to view their facility. Ted, who I later found to be the owner, answered with an annoyed ‘The Learning Curve’ and that was it.
When I stopped in, (yeah, I know… shoulda gone with my instinct) Ted greeted me (if you’d call it that) and we discussed what I’d be needing. Being an RN, I only work 3 days, so told him I’d need 3 full and 2 part-​time days because I’d like some sort of structure & socialization to be maintained for my son. He rolled his eyes and huffed because it threw off their tuition and pricing. Apparently they’re doing some ‘special’ where you get $ 25 off fulltime and $ 15 off parttime… that’s brain surgery to figure out the discount given my situation, huh Ted?
We walked around their facility and he showed me what class my son would be in and met the ‘teacher’…omg. Apparently I was unaware that not washing your hair and having visible tattoos is acceptable these days.
The whole time, he’s going on and on about how great they are because they have unmatched security and technology and video surveillance, how they have such a huge play area for the kids (ok, it was decent), and blah blah blah. At this point I’m shooting myself for not just walking out after my initial impression of the guy. He’s not once even tried to pretend he likes kids, faked a smile, or inquired about my son other than how old he was.
Don’t waste your time.

The owners were very unprofessional, and rude. I will never take my children back. There are a lot o way better choices for a preschool
