Gilbert Air

I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse experience with any company in my life. I was overcharged in July and thought I sorted things out. However, 5 months later, they harass me and say I never paid. They apparently «lost» all documentation about my invoice and are threatening me.
Please, do NOT consult this company. I would be willing to pay so you don’t come here. That’s how bad it was.

To reiterate Steve W’s comment below, I am not one to post negatively about any person or business, however I am writing this in hopes of saving someone else from experiencing the extreme frustration and waste of money that resulted by us using Gilbert Air.
One of our AC unites was not working last summer so we researched a few companies and decided on Gilbert Air for their location and ²⁴⁄₇ service guarantee. A young gentleman came out to service it and added Freon to the unit and fixed a leak. He then proceeded to sell us on the benefits of your maintenance package and let us know how smart it was to purchase this as it would protect our unit and provide bi-​annual maintenance for 5 years. Thinking that this company would be able to provide us with exceptional service and peace of mind for these units, we proceeded to purchase the package for both units for over $ 1,300.
Just two months later, the exact same issue arose with the upstairs unit. We called to schedule someone to come out to take a look, and when he did he immediately told us that we needed a new unit. We explained to him that someone on his team just came out and sold us this maintenance program and fixed a leak. The new gentleman told us the issue went way beyond a leak and that ‘he didn’t know what the other guy did so he couldn’t speak on that’ and that guy was no longer with the company.
First, any company should have records of what was serviced or completed in the past — and this guy claimed to not know anything about our account.
Outraged that someone would sell us this maintenance plan for a model so old and obviously on its way out, we told the gentleman we would not be purchasing anything that day and we would need to talk to the owner. He then told us he was going to charge us the trip fee since it was a weekend — even though we had the maintenance plan and these were supposedly covered! He eventually waived the trip charge.
Following this encounter, my husband attempted to reach out to your owner, Frank, several times without a response. He left several, several messages with the receptionist and explained our situation again and again and each time was told he would receive a call back. **We never once received a call back from the owner.** He finally did get in touch with another team member who relayed information that Frank had provided to him. The only solution for a credit for the maintenance plan that was provided was if we purchased a new unit through their company, but they would not refund us for the price we paid for the maintenance package on the other unit. We were also offered a no tax price in writing.
During the time we were attempting to reach the owner of the company, we were without air conditioning in the dead of the Summer and living downstairs only. We slept on a mattress in our living room for 3 weeks until we decided we couldn’t do it anymore and found a different reputable company to provide us with a new unit.
We email several times to resolve this issue with the company prior to posting this review — with absolutely NO RESPONSE. Needless to say, I felt an obligation to get this out here so no one else is placed in this unfortunate situation.

We had the guys from Gilbert Air come today to install a brand new system. It was a great experience! Our unit is over 20 years old and died last week. Not ideal for the winter with a new baby in the house. They gave us a wonderful price, have given excellent service, and are very kind.
Two technicians came to install the unit (both in the yard and the attic) and the owner stopped by to go over everything with us. It was great to have such knowledgable people putting the unit in and to have the actual owner come to go over the warranty and answer my questions. We are extremely pleased with the work and customer service. 5 star for sure!

Let me start off by saying I hate dinging people with a bad review, but when you get the type of service I did, I feel it’s important to share it.
Approximately two weeks ago, I called up my home warranty company and told them my AC unit upstairs wasn’t blowing very cold air and as a result, it was running constantly. They told me that Gilbert Air would be contacting me to schedule an appointment for service. About twenty minutes later they called and said they’d be there between 5−7pm the following day. Ummmm yah, they never showed! No matter, I went out of town for the weekend so it’s not like I was gonna suffer too much.
Then I got back home…
The AC still not repaired was still running constantly, only this time, then motor was squealing. Couple days later, not more AC upstairs. Another call to warranty company, and Friday, Gilbert Air finally showed up. Here’s the fun part, they weren’t there to do a repair, only a diagnosis of the problem. Okay, I asked, when will it get repaired? The tech told me he’s submit the report Monday. Now I thought this was because of my warranty company that there was a delay, but then I found out it was because Gilbert Air’s office wasn’t open on the weekend! Let me just add that this past weekend hit 117 degrees on two of the three days.
Monday came and went.
Tuesday the motor wouldn’t break free from the housing.
Wednesday it was determined by the tech that something else might be the problem.
But today, today was the kicker!!! Today the warranty company informed me that the service company said all repairs were complete! I called and raised hell with Gilbert Air and 1 ½ hours later, the owner of the company showed up at my house, with the tech I might add. The owner walked up to the AC unit, saw it still in pieces and said to the tech, «I thought you finished this?» The tech said, «I did finish it. It was working perfect when I left.» Then the owner said to me, «You’ll have to get another company. Someone’s lying here and I have to believe my tech.» My reply, «Are you frickin kidding me? I’m not an AC repairman, why would I tear it apart? Besides, I have a home warranty, why would I try to fix the frickin thing?» He then walked out with his tech.
Anyhow, the home warranty company sent out a new company. When they got there I explained the whole ordeal I’d been thru with Gilbert Air. A few minutes after he started surveying the problem, he called me over to him. The tech was laughing and told me that the original tech tried to install a 220v motor in a 110v system. Another few minutes revealed he installed the wrong capacitor or at very least had the wrong motor with the wrong capacitor. (again, I’m not an AC guy) Then we found out that he damaged the fan cage that holds the motor in place. From what I could tell, the old tech pretty much messed up everything he touched. Maybe, if the owner of the other company had taken a closer look at the problem, he would have determined that there was no way I could have caused that much of a train wreck.
Now with all that being said, even I can see that Gilbert Air has an overall good score with Unilocal.I would even say that sometimes people make mistakes. God knows that I have, but the fact that the owner made the decision that a client was lying without really investigating the situation further was just a bad business decision in my opinion. I look forward to a reply from him on this review.

Old Republic Home Warranty sent Gilbert Air to my home on ⁸⁄₂₀ when I had a problem with bedroom a/​c not cooling. Mike called and arrived early, located the problem and resolved the issue immediately. Mike was extremely professional and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Gilbert Air. Be sure to request Mike!

My air conditioner started making weird noises and my parents recommended I call Gilbert Air. The repair person came out promptly and he was nice but he told me I needed a new fan and quoted me over $ 900. He also told me after putting in a new fan that my unit probably wouldn’t last another few months. He also tried to sell me a new unit (for what seemed like a pretty fair price honestly). But I had a feeling that I wasn’t getting a good price on the repair so I decided to call around for quotes. I called around 10 companies; some refused to give me quotes but the rest gave me quotes several hundred dollars less than Gilbert air for the repair. The company I ended up going with did the repair for HALF of what Gilbert air quoted me. The other company was horrified when I told him what I was quoted, in his words he told me it was robbery. Also the other company told me my unit would probably last another few years.

Called on A weekend afternoon after searching for a servicing company on Unilocal.Talked to a gentleman, who I believe is the owner. He was courteous and promptly schedule a technician to come out. Technician was also excellent. I am new in AZ and I have been disappointed with contractors I had used for flooring, handyman etc. People say get used to AZ quality. I’m from CA btw. Anyway, this company is great and I signed an annual service contract at the end.

The dreaded homeowner event happened. It’s July, it’s after hours (7:30 PM), and my A/​C stopped blowing cold air.
My wife had pre-​screened for A/​C repair companies on Unilocal a few months ago in preparation for just such an event. (She’s a planner, to say the least). She handed me a short list of two companies to call. I called one, and got their after hours recording so I left a message. I then called Gilbert Air, and a live human answered! She was very helpful (sorry I don’t recall her name) and offered a same day appointment that was way past my bed time, or she said she could have someone here at 7:00 AM the next morning. I couldn’t believe that a tech could come to my house at 11:00PM! We chose the 7:00 appt, loaded up the dog and an overnight bag and headed to a hotel. (Yes, my wife handed me a short list of hotels to choose from too)
Shortly after 7:00 AM Rob called, letting me know that he was a few minutes away. He was friendly, professional, and assessed the situation quickly. We chatted for a bit and he put me as ease explaining that the failure on my unit was VERY common. He gave me a quote which seemed on par with what I had found after doing a little research in the hotel room the night before. Of course I had him perform the work. He completed the repair in about an hour, and the bill was dead on what he quoted me. Great quality work, prompt, and courteous service!!!
Oh yeah… by the way… the other company called me back about 3 minutes after Rob left. I found that to be hilarious! I said, «no thanks, I just had it fixed by a more responsive company.»
Gilbert Air rocks!

Awesome people, great service. Nick came out late at night to repair what needed to be repaired — we then decided it was time to upgrade the system entirely. They gave us a heck of a deal and were prompt with installation.

Excellent service. Our air went out around 8 PM & after trying to fix it ourselves we ended up calling Gilbert Air around 9 PM, they came out & had it fixed within the hour. Fast, friendly & efficient! Would definitely recommend them.

I recently moved to a new place and my realtor got me some type of home insurance that takes care of all your household issues for a low service fee each time a someone has to come out to fix something.
When the weather turned cold, I turned on my heater… and nothing happened. I called my insurance and they assigned Gilbert Air to assist me.
Frank and his partner did a great job. They were able to accommodate my schedule and come out at 6am. They quickly determined it was some type of electrical problem and fixed it. They also put new screws in the cover for my heat and A/​C system to make it easier for me to change my filter in the future.
